Ryota Kawade is a game designer employee by Intelligent Systems. He directed all installments of the Paper Mario series up to Paper Mario: Sticker Star.

History

Kawade studied machinery for factory jobs, but he decided he wanted to do a creative job, and decided to enter the game industry. He initially wanted to be a game planner, but as Intelligent Systems was only hiring designers and programmers at the time, he decided to sign as a designer instead[1]. Kawade currently works as the producer of Fire Emblem Cipher, a trading card game in the Fire Emblem series.
