Pulse Beams[citation needed] are robotic enemies that appear in Super Mario Odyssey. They act similarly to Ring Burners and some Sentry Beams in that they will shoot a large ring of electricity in an attempt to hurt Mario. However, unlike the two aforementioned species, Mario must throw Cappy at them in order to activate them or they can be activated by enemies, such as Bullet Bills, instead of being activated when Mario is close to them. Their electric rings can also destroy some blocks in Mario's path. Additionally, the rings can cause other Pulse Beams to be activated when collided with them, which in some cases can cause an infinite loop. They cannot be destroyed by any means.
