Template:Item-infobox Wires, also known as ropes, are objects in the Mario series that are used for swinging. Certain wires conduct Wire Traps, which can electrocute Mario.
History
Donkey Kong (Game Boy)
Wires appear in Donkey Kong for the Game Boy, where they are attached to telephone-like poles. Mario can grab on and move across wires and can also do the Wire Spin to either do a small jump or a large jump to get to areas he could not reach. The wires face either diagonal or horizontal which can help make him go up higher or go over huge gaps.
Super Mario Sunshine
In Super Mario Sunshine, wires appear as somewhat common objects in various locations. As seen previously, wires can be hung off and used to perform a Super Whirl Jump to reach higher places, or Mario can walk on them as if it were a tightrope. Jumping on top of them for a higher bounce is also possible.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Wires reappear under their current name in Mario vs. Donkey Kong, behaving exactly the same as in Donkey Kong for the Game Boy.
