Snapses first appear in the Beach area, the third level of the Ruins area, Mast Blast, and later in the Cliff area. Snapses move from side to side and can only hurt Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong if they come in contact with one. They also have the tendency to chase the Kongs, meaning that they'll change direction the instant the Kongs jump over one. Snapses can easily be defeated with a jump or by throwing a barrel at them. Pinchleys are stronger variants of Snapses.
A single Snaps makes a minor appearance on the title screen of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, wandering around the place comprised by the image. No member from its species shows up later in the game.
