- “If ya got time to talk, then ya got time to keep the Chomps rolling!”
- —Gearmo, Super Mario Galaxy 2
Chompworks Galaxy is a galaxy appearing the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is the only galaxy to revolve around the use of the Spring Mushroom. Gearmos inhabit the area. Chomps, as the galaxy's name implies, are the most common enemy here, usually blocking the path to a Launch Star. There are also revolving platforms that resemble bolts that Mario must traverse to gain the Power Star. There are several Star Bit constellations that are shaped like Chomps.
Planets

The Starting Planet is separated into two sections. On the bottom portion, there are a few Gearmos, a couple Octoombas, and a hole with the figure of a Chomp above it. If a Chomp is lead into this hole, it will reveal a Launch Star. At the top portion, Chomps roll in a straight line, crashing into a wall. The Comet Medal is found above the Chomps. During the Spring into the Chompworks mission, a Spring Mushroom can be found on the bottom and the Launch Star is located at the top.

This planet, as the name implies, is surrounded by lava. During the Where the Chomps are Made of Gold mission, the planet has one large Chomp generator. To the right are some cubical platforms that have miniature Chomps moving in a circular path. There is a Warp Pipe and a Launch Star there as well. During the Spring into the Chompworks mission, the cubical platforms are eliminated and the player can travel on top of the large Chomp generator. Atop this generator is another path with a smaller generator and a Launch Star.

Just like in the Flip-Swap Galaxy, this planet features some Flip-Swap Platforms, but only in small sections. There are also platforms that tilt to the side that the player is standing on, much like a seesaw. The player has to use the flip and tilt platforms to make the Chomp enter the Chomp Hole and reveal a Launch Star. Octoombas can be found on this planet as well.

This planet is also covered in lava and is in the shape of a circle. A piece of metal forms the zig-zag shape of a Chomp's mouth. This planet is infested with Metallic Goombas. Golden Chomps spawn from the lava puddle in the back of the planet and it must be brought to a hole in the ground on the other side of the planet. During the Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks mission, many Cosmic Clones infest the area.

These two planets are inaccessible. They can be seen when leaving the Flipping Platforms Planet in Where the Chomps Are Made of Gold, or while Mario flies toward the Castle Planet in Spring into the Chompworks. They consist of nothing more than two spinning circular gear-like platforms (one green and one yellow) that contain four Chomps each, which are connected by a large screw running directly through the center of the planet.

The Spring Tower Planet is shaped like a castle and is visited only during the Spring into the Chompworks mission. This planet has some platforms that help Spring Mario reach the top and grab the Power Star. Some of them are shaped like nuts that rotate in a circular fashion while there are some platforms that move sideways or up and down. The enemies encountered here are Paragoombas. The farthest right and left sides feature conical towers shaped like drills. This planet strongly resembles the Tower Planet from the Fluffy Bluff Galaxy.

Missions
Where the Chomps are Made of Gold
- “I'm here to make sure no one enters this area!”
- —Gearmo, Chompworks Galaxy
The mission starts off with the player arriving on the Starting Planet. From there, he or she has to lower the platform at the top of the area where the Chomps are rolling. This will allow the Chomps to roll down the provided chute and into the hole in the ground, revealing a Launch Star. The Launch Star will send the player to the Lava Planet. On this planet, the player should simply avoid the large Chomp and the small Chomps. The Launch Star is located on one of the cube-shaped platforms. After arriving on the Flipping Platforms Planet, the player should get to the other side and hit the lever, allowing the Chomps to roll through the generator. Using precise timing, the player will need to flip the platforms and tilt the seesaws so the Chomp can roll on into the hole and reveal another Launch Star. Finally, at the Lava Chomp Planet, the player should approach the area where the Golden Chomps are spawning. While avoiding the enemies and using timed movements, the player will need to help the Chomp get to the other side of the planet. When the Chomp enters the hole, it will release a Power Star for the player.

Spring into the Chompworks
When the player visits this galaxy for the second time, he or she finds a Spring Mushroom on the Starting Planet. To complete this mission, the player must use the first Launch Star located on the first planet's obstacle, using Spring Mario or Luigi to bounce up the steep ramp. On the Lava Planet, the player will notice that the small platforms have disappeared. To get past the Chomps, the plumber can jump over them using the Spring Mario/Luigi form. He can also do a backflip then spin over them. When past the large Chomps, a smaller version of these enemies will roll toward him, though the player doesn't need the Spring Mushroom this time. The Launch Star is located at the end of the planet, right on top of the generator. After using the Launch Star, the player is sent to the Spring Tower Planet. The player must use the Spring Mushroom to get to the top of the planet, while avoiding Paragoombas, and grab the Power Star.

Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks
The Clone Comet must be in orbit in order to select this mission. The player starts on the Lava Chomp Planet for this mission. The objective is the same as the Where the Chomps are Made of Gold mission, except there are Cosmic Clones following the player the entire time, and the Metallic Goombas are not present. The player has to guide the Golden Chomp carefully to the hole without crossing these enemies. If this is done, he or she is awarded with a Power Star.

Green Star 1
The player redoes the Where the Chomps are Made of Gold mission. The first Green Star is located on the Starting Planet. It is placed outside of the area, near the platform of rolling Chomps. The player has to avoid the Chomps and make it to the start of the Chomp generator. He or she should perform a long jump to reach the green star thereafter.

Green Star 2
The player redoes the Where the Chomps are Made of Gold mission once again. This time, the second Green Star is located on the roof of the Flipping Platforms Planet. The star is visible when using the Launch Star to travel from the second planet to the third planet, though once on the third planet the star will be out of view. To reach the Star, the player can either side-somersault towards the wall, wall-jump off the wall and then spin backwards to the star, triple-jump towards the wall and then Spin Jump into the Star, or backwards-somersault to the star.

Green Star 3
The player redoes the Spring into the Chompworks mission. The player should get to the Spring Tower Planet and reach the top with the help of the Spring Mushroom. Near the top, the player should get some aerial gain and head towards the right of the planet, hopefully landing on the cone-shaped dome. The player should then perform a spring jump as Spring Mario or Luigi to get this star.
