Template:GBoss-infobox Digga-Leg is a robotic boss from the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is fought in the Spin-Dig Galaxy in the mission "Digga-Leg's Planet".

Appearance

It resembles a smaller Megaleg with its weak spot being on its glass underside, containing a Power Star. However, it only has two legs and its eyes emanate a red glow. It lets off steam periodically. When the player first encounters it, it slowly activates, then massively lets off steam before starting to battle.

Strategy

The only way to defeat Digga-Leg is for Mario to drill through the planet from the opposite position of its glass underside to puncture it, but it must be done from the right area of the planet at the right time. If the player misfires, Mario will either run into one of Digga-Leg's legs or his protected part of his head (with an accompanying clang sound). Digga-Leg attacks mainly by stomping around the planetoid. It will also summon Diggas. The player can defeat the yellow drill-creatures by stomping on their heads or by drilling under them.

When angered, Digga-Leg will jump high into the air and come plummeting down, damaging Mario if he was in the way. After being hit three times with the drill on the underside, the boss succumbs, explodes, and grants Mario the level's Power Star.

The player faces Digga-Leg twice, with the second fight being under the Daredevil Comet conditions.

Trivia

  • Digga-Leg shares the same boss theme as Whomp King.
  • It is possible Digga-Leg is Megaleg rebuilt, as the two robots look similar.
  • Digga-Leg's battle style is similar to Raphael the Raven's from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
  • Unlike most big enemies and the Whomp King, if Mario is hit by its legs, he simply gets knocked away and takes damage, instead of being crushed. This is so because the boss is quite early in the game.
  • As well as Megaleg, Digga-Leg resembles a Snifit.
  • Digga-Leg was originally going to be called Digg-Leg, but this was changed in the final version of the game.
  • Interestingly, the italian name to Digga-Leg is Duopodobot and the italian name to Megaleg is Tripodobot.
