|tattle=This is a Hyper Cleft. Hyper Clefts have more defense power than normal.  They sometimes charge their power before attacking.  That charged attack will take away 8 HP, so watch out when they start to glow.  It'll miss you if you can become transparent.  Their defense power will fall to 1 if you use an explosion to flip 'em over.  And in case you hadn't noticed, they have spikes up top! It'll hurt if you jump on 'em.

Template:Pmenemybox A Hyper Cleft is a bright green Cleft first encountered in Paper Mario at Gusty Gulch. The only real physical difference between a Hyper Cleft and a normal Cleft is that Hyper Clefts are green and have purple shoes and eyes. Hyper Clefts are also capable of charging their attacks to do a ton of damage. They are also spiked, and jumping on them will not work.

Hyper Clefts reappear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, this time in the areas surrounding Twilight Town, called Twilight Trail.
