The statued variety of Piranha Plants,[1] despite their name, are statues of Venus Fire Traps in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. They are encountered in Mario's castle only. They routinely charge up horizontal fireball projectiles when approached by Mario. These fireballs can damage him only once they leave the statues' mouths. There are big and small-sized statues, which respectively shoot out big and small fireballs. Both statues can be used as platforms, despite the decorative spikes on the bigger version.
