In-game, each Squid Shot is operated by a creature taking shelter inside the machine. Only its eyes can be seen as it looks through a hatch on the front of the Squid Shot. The direction its eyes are facing determines the direction it fires Squidlys/Electrasquids; if it is looking straight, it fires in both directions. However, the concept artwork depicts a Squid Shot being manned by a crab-looking creature.
In-game, Squid Shots fire Squidlys or Electrasquids either left, right, or both directions depending on the direction the squid’s eyes inside are facing. if they are looking to the left, it shoots to the left. if they are looking to the right, it shoots to the right. If they are looking straight, it fires in both directions.
