Mame-san are green, bean-like enemies that appear in Yoshi's New Island. They are only found in World 1-8: Big Beanie's Castle. They approach Yoshi and Baby Mario by hopping towards him in a similar manner to Burts from the previous Yoshi's Island games. In the castle's final room, Kamek "plants" a Mame-san with his hammer, which grows into a beanstalk leading to the sky, where it grows into Big Beanie, the boss of the level. During the boss battle, Big Beanie spits out Mame-san at Yoshi, which he can eat to make eggs to throw at Big Beanie.
