Junker Cans are enemies that resemble garbage cans found during the events of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. They assist Junker while battling Mario and Luigi in Princess Peach's Castle.
They will attack by getting close to the bros., trying to ram into them, but this attack can be countered by using the Hammers. However, they will stop short if they see the hammer, and then close its lid, preventing them from taking damage. They can be countered if the player attacks quick enough when the Junker can is close. Junker may occasionally pick up Luigi and throw him in a Junker Can. He will either escape on his own after enough turns have passed or if Mario defeats the enemy. Every now and then, the Junkers on the screen will reveal what they contain by tossing it into the air. If Mario is defeated with Luigi still trapped, the can will drain Luigi's health down to 0 and KO him as well, resulting in a Game Over. Junker can also grab a Junker Can and shake it, dropping Cheep Cheeps, Bob-ombs, and Scutlets to attack. After everything is out of the Junker Can, Junker will throw the Junker Can away, removing it from battle.
If Mario and Luigi do defeat a Junker Can, a Fish Bone, Chain Chomp, or Nooz will head for the brother that defeated it. Should Junker be defeated, all Junker Cans will be defeated as well.
Later on in the game, during the battle with Junker X in the Gauntlet, new Junker Cans called Junker Can Xs aid him in battle.
