Kabooms (also known as TNT Barrels[1]) are the red Kremlings and the TNT Barrel-wearing variant of Klobbers. They first appeared in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Kabooms disguise themselves as ordinary TNT Barrels and pop out when a character gets close. They do not return in Donkey Kong Land 2.

Krackas were originally planned to be the successors to Kabooms in Donkey Kong Country 3 but were later removed. However, in the Game Boy Advance remake, they did appear in one level, Stormy Seas. Klasps, the rope-climbing variation of Krackas, ended up being their only successor.

Donkey Kong 64

Kabooms return in Donkey Kong 64, where they only appear in the worlds, Angry Aztec and Gloomy Galleon. Kabooms were made larger, and their earrings were removed.

Kabooms have the same attack pattern as in Donkey Kong Country 2. They occasionally say "C'mon" in a high-pitched voice while charging. Given their larger size, Kabooms are easily identifiable in their TNT Barrels, which do not reappear as projectiles either. The Kongs can defeat Kabooms by throwing an Orange at them, by using a musical instrument, or by firing at them from their weapon. They can also use a shockwave attack, but at a cost of being injured from the explosion. Lastly, Kabooms self-destruct after five seconds of running after the active Kong, saying "Uh oh" momentarily before detonating. Upon being defeated, Kabooms turn into a pile of ash, with two blinking eyes on top.

Kabooms are obstacles in the later segment of Diddy's Mine Cart Ride. They randomly jump out from edges and attempt to crash into him. Diddy loses DK Coins if one successfully collides into him. Three Kabooms also appear in Diddy's segment of the DK Rap, where Diddy explodes them from throwing an Orange.
