Template:SMOlocation-infobox The Cloud Kingdom is a kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey, and the greater location of Nimbus Arena. A mysterious realm in the sky made up entirely of clouds, the arena within this kingdom is the location of the first Bowser fight in the game, as well as the smallest location within the game.
Description
Nimbus Arena is mainly comprised of one main cloud platform, surrounded by a few smaller platformers, connected by Cloud Hats. Most of the smaller platforms, outside of the one the Odyssey lands on, do not appear until the Moon Rock found within the arena is broken.
The in-game brochure suggests that the Cloud Kingdom was once home to a society that had some connection with the moon, pointing out the moon phase markings and strange cloud arches found upon and around Nimbus Arena.
Power Moons
There are a total of 9 Power Moons in Nimbus Arena, the second lowest number after Culmina Crater, which only has one.
(◲=Moon Rock)
- 01: Picture Match: Basically a Goomba: Obtained by playing a Picture Match minigame, accessed by a Green Pipe in the center of the arena.
- 02: Peach in the Cloud Kingdom: Obtained post-game by talking to Peach and Tiara in the NE corner of the arena..
- 03: Digging in the...Cloud?: ◲ Obtained by performing a Ground Pound on a specific area of the main arena in the SE corner, which can be determined through the increasing intensity of the controller's rumble feature.
- 04: High, High Above the Clouds: ◲ Obtained by platforming on Cloud Hats above the main arena. The platform is directly West, which will raise up with a ground pound.
- 05: Crossing the Cloud Sea: ◲ Obtained by collecting a key found north of the main arena past the moon rock cube, across several timed Cloud Hat blocks.
- 06: Taking Notes: Up and Down: ◲ Obtained by collecting all of the music notes while on a rising and falling platform, to the East of the main arena.
- 07: Picture Match: A Stellar Goomba!: ◲ Obtained by completing a harder version of the Picture Match: Basically a Goomba Power Moon in the same area.
- 08: King of the Cube!: ◲ Obtained by completing a series of 8-bit challenges, accessed by a Moon Rock Pipe in the SE corner of the arena.
- 09: The Sixth Face: ◲ Obtained by finding a secret area found within the 8-bit area the King of the Cube! Power Moon is found in. There is a pipe in the top right of a face accessed by jumping to reveal two hidden blocks on the ledge below. After they are revealed, it is easy to reach the pipe accessing the sixth face, and grab the moon.

Life Above the Clouds
Perhaps everyone has had the experience of looking up in the clouds and imagining what it would be like to live among them. As it turns out, as fantastical as it may sound, there was once such a kingdom whose citizens looked down on the world from a fluffy, puffy paradise.
Strangely Floaty Material
While the particles that make up a cloud are extremely small and light, researchers have recently discovered a kind of cloud-like material that one can walk on. First discovered in Fossil Falls, this substance can change into and hold new shapes and even support weight.
The discovery prompted certain researchers to open an investigation into whether there might have once been a "cloud kingdom" in the sky.
Vestiges of Greatness
Once researchers started looking for places in the sky, they quickly found a large platform of the levitating substance, dubbed Nimbus Arena.
Mysteriously, the land had markings that accurately showed the waxing and waning phases of the moon. Now, besides the obvious "how," researchers had to question "why?"
Giant Cloud Arches
Researchers are thus baffled by the large cloud archway here. Some theorize that it's a kind of reticle that aligns with the moon. Some evidence suggests that the arch pulled this kingdom's Moon Rock to a specific location from the moon.
The only certainty is the the Cloud Kingdom will continue to interest researchers for many years.
Shower of Flowers
The investigation is concluded now and yielded few undisputed facts. But the bits of cloud that fall like flower petals here make it the most dreamlike place you'll ever visit.
Symbols of Peace
Perhaps signifying how peaceful this place is, many doves can be found living here. Supposedly, spotting a flock of doves will grant you increased happiness.
Three Keys to the Kingdom
- Navigate the vast sea of clouds that seem to go on forever.
- Feel the unyielding cloud-floor that won't budge no matter how you stomp.
- Explore the remnants of the civilization that once existed here.
