The yellow Skittlers try to attack Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong by swinging down from their webs to attack the Kongs. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong can simply jump on the Skittler to defeat it. The purple ones, however, do not physically attack the Kongs, but they do swing around as an obstacle for the Kongs. If the spider is jumped on, it falls from its web and walks to the Kongs. The Kongs must then jump on the purple Skittler in order to defeat it.
Orange Skittlers try to attack Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong by drooping down from a thread. Once it reaches the ground, it will land and proceed to crawl towards the Kongs. Purple Skittlers, however, do not drop on the open ground unless forced with a stomp attack. After it falls from its thread, it will start to walk across the area, eventually ending up in a pit. A few purple Skittlers hanging directly above a pit will immediately perish from a stomp attack, instead of falling down.

The Kongs will lose a heart point after mere contact with a Skittler. They cannot approach a Skittler with a roll attack if the enemy is hanging from a thread, though other attacks will work. However, once on its feet, the enemy can be defeated with any attack, including a roll.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, one Skittler makes a cameo. It can be seen in the background of the level Forest Folly, frozen in a block of ice.
