A Yoshi Star is an item that appears in Yoshi's New Island. When a Yoshi collects it, he turns into Super Yoshi and is able to walk on walls for a short time and speed up, similar to the Super Star from the previous games. The red Yoshi Stars usually appear after the player completes a segment full of yellow Yoshi Stars, and they give Yoshi the power to blast through enemies and walls. The effects wear off after a short while, though Yoshi can maintain them by collecting more Yoshi Stars.
