The Octopus also appears in the Mario VS Wario comic, which is a (loose) adaptation of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. The Octopus attempts to attack Mario while he is crossing a lake but is stopped when Mario asks what an octopus, a saltwater creature is doing in a freshwater lake. The Octopus ponders this and then exclaims that that must be why it hasn't been feeling good. Mario offers to pour some salt in the water for the octopus, but accidently pours sugar in instead. The Octopus is last seen lieing face down in the water... unmoving.

In order to defeat the octopus, Mario has to hit its head three times, which can be difficult, as the entire battle with the octopus takes place underwater. Once defeated, Mario will gain one of the six Golden Coins needed to take back his castle from Wario.

It is dangerous because of its size and that it shoots Octo-minis out of its nose. The minis are probably the same as normal octos in Yoshi's Safari. If the Octo-blooper is hit on the head three times it is defeated. This is a greater task than it seems – because the octo-blooper is always sub-merged.

Octopus strongly resembles King Magma Blooper from Super Mario Galaxy. Could King Magma Blooper be the return of Octopus? This generates the fact that Tatanga or other Super Mario Land or Super Mario Land 2 enemies/bosses could reappear in Super Mario Galaxy, not to mention that Tatanga is a space creature.

History[edit]

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins[edit]

The octopus is the boss of Turtle Zone in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, and is located in the belly of a whale. It will attack Mario by swimming around releasing its offspring. The little ones slowly home in on Mario and pass him by, while the parent swims left and right across the arena. In order to defeat the octopus, Mario has to hit its head three times, which can be difficult, as the entire battle with the octopus takes place underwater. Alternatively, Fire Mario can defeat the octopus with six fireballs. The smaller octopodes cannot be harmed, and are the most dangerous threat in the battle. Once defeated, Mario will gain one of the six Golden Coins needed to take back his castle from Wario.

The octopus (referred to by Mario as a monster octopus) also appears in the Mario vs. Wario comic, which is a loose adaptation of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. It attempts to attack Mario while he is crossing a lake, but is stopped when Mario asks what an octopus, a saltwater creature, is doing in a freshwater lake. The octopus ponders this and then exclaims that must be why it has not been feeling well. Mario offers to pour some salt in the water for the octopus, but accidentally pours sugar instead. It is last seen lying face down in the water, unmoving.
