After this, she was approached by the drama teacher, who successfully persuaded her to sign up for her class, which she very much enjoyed.[citation needed]
Mustard's first job was working for her grandparents, answering the office telephone and filing papers. As a senior, Mustard was in an advanced drama class before graduating in 1999. Following this, she joined the theater department at Cornish College of the Arts in the fall, and received her degree in acting in the spring of 2003. According to Mustard, she enjoyed playing Gertrude Stein in a piece called "Notorious Women." Mustard researched the role, which she has stated was a challenge. She also mentioned that she has a special place in her heart for the character Darla Danson.[citation needed]
