While not a usable item in Mario Party, the single player is dressed in a Bowser Suit in the 1-vs.-3 minigames Bash 'n' Cash and Tug o' War. The Bowser Suit becomes a usable item in Mario Party 2. It is somewhat rare, as it can only be won in Item Minigames and is not available in Item Shops. When used, the player will don a Bowser Suit in a flash of light and, for that turn only, may steal 20 Coins from any player they pass, due to other players mistaking them for Bowser. If the player passes Baby Bowser during their turn, he will give them all the Coins he has collected from players throughout the current game, again mistaking them for Bowser. Other characters on the board sometimes have reactions to the Bowser Suit, but it does not affect their gameplay functions. The solo player also wears the Bowser Suit in the 1-vs.-3 minigame Quicksand Cache.

In Mario Party 3, the Bowser Suit reappears as a usable item with the same effects as in the previous game. Additionally, players can occasionally receive a Bowser Suit from Bowser himself after landing on a Bowser Space during the Bowser Suit Giveaway event.

In Mario Party 4, the Bowser Suit is once again a usable item. It is now very rare, as it can only be obtained during the Bowser Suit event on a Bowser Space, which has been made much more uncommon. The item's appearance has changed, now resembling a Bowser-like Mushroom instead of a mask-like object resembling Bowser's face as in previous games. The item now transforms into the suit which falls onto the player, and its effects are slightly different: the player now body-slams any opponents they pass to steal 30 Coins each from them, and additionally no longer visits most board events. This brings the item's effects more in line with the Mega Mushroom also introduced in Mario Party 4. It also has two board-specific effects: on Koopa's Seaside Soiree, the player can choose a direction manually at Ukiki's Banana Peel Junction, as the game states that "Bowser doesn't slip on banana peels". Additionally, if the player passes Bowser on Bowser's Gnarly Party, he will note that the player looks just like him and gives them 50 Coins. CPU players never use Bowser Suits after obtaining them.

Bowser Suit from Mario Party: The Top 100
Asset from Mario Party: The Top 100
First appearance Mario Party (1998)
Latest appearance Mario Party Superstars (2021)
Effect Allows players to steal coins (in Mario Party 2, 3, and 4) or stars (in Mario Party 8 and The Top 100) from each opponent they pass.

The Bowser Suit is a full-body suit appearing throughout the Mario Party series. It is a suit resembling Bowser's body, and only the wearer's head is visible. There is also a similar item in Mario Party 5 and 6, titled the Bullet Bill Orb.

History[edit]

Mario Party[edit]

A Bowser Suit is worn by the solo player in the minigames Bash 'n' Cash, avoiding hammer strikes from the team players, and Tug o' War, to help them tug the rope, in Mario Party.

Mario Party 2[edit]

The Bowser Suit is worn by the player during the 1-vs.-3 minigame Quicksand Cache in Mario Party 2. It is also a rare item, obtainable only during Item Minigames. The user can steal 20 Coins from players they pass, or even go by Baby Bowser to get every Coin he took from other players.

Mario Party 3[edit]

The Bowser Suit is not featured in any minigames in Mario Party 3, unlike before. It returns as an item, but it can also be bought from Baby Bowser at Item Shops for 10 Coins or be received from Bowser during a potential Bowser Suit Giveaway event on a Bowser Space.

Mario Party 4[edit]

The Bowser Suit is an item in Mario Party 4. It now looks like a Mushroom in Bowser's likeness, though it becomes a suit that applies on to the player. There is a 0.2% chance of receiving it from a Bowser Suit event on a Bowser Space.[citation needed] The user now steals 30 Coins from any opponent they pass, this time from a body slam. At Koopa's Seaside Soiree, the user wearing a Bowser Suit can choose their direction at Ukiki's Banana Peel Junction because according to the game, "Bowser doesn't slip on banana peels". At Bowser's Gnarly Party, the player wearing a Bowser Suit can get 50 Coins from Bowser, who notes their resemblance to him.

Mario Party 8[edit]

The Bowser Suit is a component of the Bowser Candy, exclusively in Bowser's Warped Orbit, in Mario Party 8. The suit now also includes Bowser's head. The user rolls Dice Blocks and can steal two Stars from any players they pass instead.

Mario Party: The Top 100[edit]

The solo player retains their Bowser Suit during the Tug o' War minigame in Mario Party: The Top 100, now sticking their head out of the suit's mouth. It is also an item in Minigame Match mode and works the same way as in Mario Party 8.

Mario Party Superstars[edit]

The Bowser Suit is worn by the solo player again in the returning minigames Tug o' War and Quicksand Cache in Mario Party Superstars.
