Mario Circuit 4 is the fifth and last course of the Star Cup in Super Mario Kart. It was subsequently reused in Mario Kart: Super Circuit as the third track of the Extra Star Cup. It is a tarmac circuit set in a grassland. This is the first of two Mario Circuits from the series set in the Star Cup; the second is the DS version.

Mario Circuit 4 is one of three courses in Super Mario Kart that has yet to appear in a later Mario Kart game other than Mario Kart: Super Circuit, the others being Bowser Castle 1 and Bowser Castle 2. It is the only Mario Circuit course in Super Mario Kart with this distinction, and as such, it is also the only Mario Circuit course in Super Mario Kart that does not appear in Mario Kart Tour or Mario Kart World.

The longest of the Mario Circuits, it is still a straightforward course of normal road, with pipes and oil slicks as the only hazards. The overall layout is very similar to that of Mario Circuit 3, but more difficult and with left and right reversed. Additionally, Feathers are disabled for this track to prevent racers from jumping over the walls and thus saving a lot of time. The course begins with a U-turn to the left followed by a right turn and the only set of ? Panels. There is then a sharp right turn followed by a sharp left turn, and then two 90° turns to the left. A straightaway then leads racers into a sharp U-turn to the right followed by a brief straight and a sharp U-turn to the left. After a slight right turn and a left turn, racers reach the finish line.

Shortcuts

A notable shortcut can be found after the second left U-turn. Similar to the shortcut found in Mario Circuit 3, the player can use a Mushroom or Star to drive through the off-road to the right of the track, passing through a gap in the wall and cutting off the last right turn.
