A Ledge Hammer is an obstacle found in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Ledge Hammers resemble giant black-and-orange hammers, and their name is a portmanteau of "ledge" and "sledgehammer." They appear only in the Clockwork Ruins Galaxy during the mission The Ledge Hammer Trap; six of them appear during the mission and block the player's path to the Star. Ledge Hammers can crush Mario or Luigi under their weight, defeating him instantly. Ledge Hammers also move very quickly, but they can be slowed via the blue switch nearby.
