Kabooms are enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They first appear in Ghostly Grove and commonly appear in levels of the later worlds, especially the Lost World and K. Rool's Keep. Like Klobbers, a Kaboom hides in its barrel and pops out whenever Diddy and Dixie get close before running their way, attempting to harm them. Kabooms can be told apart from TNT Barrels because the "N" of "TNT" is flipped, until the Kaboom is jumped on. If a Kaboom crashes into the player character, it explodes, defeating it and damaging the Kong. Alternatively, a Kaboom can be defeated without taking damage by using either a barrel or a kannonball at it, or by stomping the Kaboom (before it re-emerges after a few seconds) and throwing it. Kabooms are defeated in the same manner as Klobbers if they touch spikes in Klobber Karnage, which does not cause them to explode. Kabooms are one of the few entities absent from the end credits, but the remake rectifies this by listing one with a Klobber.
Kabooms are common enemies the later worlds of Donkey Kong Country 2. They first appear in the Gloomy Gulch level, Ghostly Grove, and are mainly found in the Lost World and K. Rool's Keep. Their behavior is shared with Klobbers: they both hide in their Barrel, then pop out when Diddy and Dixie get close, and run after them, attempting to collide into them. Kabooms' TNT Barrels are distinguishable from normal ones, because the "N" of TNT is flipped. This is fixed when Diddy or Dixie jumps on it.

The only major change between Klobbers and Kabooms is that the latter's barrel explodes when it crashes into the lead Kong. Both of them are defeated from the TNT blast. Diddy and Dixie have a few other ways to defeat Kabooms without injury. One method is by throwing a Barrel or a Kannonball at a Kaboom. Another way is when Diddy or Dixie jumps on it and then throws it like a normal TNT Barrel. As with Klobbers, the barrel Kaboom hides in can be grabbed before the enemy emerges from it, but only if players do so fast enough. Kabooms also get defeated if they run onto the spikes in Klobber Karnage, but they do not explode.

Kabooms are last seen in the end credits, and are under the "Kremling Kuthroats" class.

Besides a larger redesign lacking earrings, TNT Bombers are otherwise similar as before, disguising themselves as TNT Barrels (which lack fuses, unlike real ones) and damaging a Kong on contact.

Kabooms have the same attack pattern as in Donkey Kong Country 2. They occasionally say "C'mon" in a high-pitched voice while charging. Given their larger size, Kabooms are easily identifiable in their TNT Barrels, which do not reappear as projectiles either. The Kongs can defeat Kabooms by throwing an Orange at them, by using a musical instrument, or by firing at them with their weapons. They can also use a shockwave attack, but at a cost of being injured from the explosion. Lastly, Kabooms automatically self-destruct after five seconds of running after the active Kong, saying "Uh oh" momentarily before exploding. Upon being defeated, Kabooms turn into a pile of ash, with two blinking eyes on top.
TNT Bomber have differences from before. They are defeated from either an orange, a musical instrument move, a projectile from a Kong's weapon, or a Super Slam, which also damages the player character. TNT Bombers also receive voice acting and say "C'mon" in a high-pitched voice while pursuing a Kong and "Uh oh" before self-destructing. After exploding, a TNT Bomber remains only from a pile of ash with two blinking eyes on top.

Kabooms are obstacles in the later segment of Diddy's Mine Cart Ride. They randomly jump out from edges and attempt to crash into him. Diddy loses DK Coins if one successfully collides into him. Three Kabooms also appear in Diddy's segment of the DK Rap, where Diddy defeats them by throwing an Orange.

Kabooms are enemies introduced in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They are Kremlings and a variant of Klobber that disguise themselves as ordinary TNT Barrels and pop out when a character gets close.

Kabooms were originally planned to have successors named Krackas in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, but went unused, and the rope-climbing Klasps are the only successor, though Krackas do appear in the remake.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest[edit]

Kabooms, also named TNT Bombers[1] or "TNT Barrels",[2] return in Donkey Kong 64. Besides a larger redesign lacking earrings, TNT Bombers are otherwise similar as before, disguising themselves as TNT Barrels (which lack fuses, unlike real ones) and damaging a Kong on contact.

TNT Bombers are first shown during Diddy's segment of the DK Rap, where Diddy simultaneously defeats three of them by throwing an orange at them. During the game itself, TNT Bombers first appear in the later segment of Diddy's Mine Cart Ride, where they jump out of edges at random as an attempt to crash into him. If a TNT Bomber successfully hits into Diddy, he loses a few DK Coins. Angry Aztec and Gloomy Galleon are the only two levels where TNT Bombers appear.
