Snowboard Slalom is one of the microgames in the Sports folder in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!. It returns as one of Dr. Crygor's microgames in WarioWare Gold, in which it uses gyro controls instead of buttons.
Gameplay[edit]
There is a top-down view of a ski slope, with a large snowball in the middle and a goal at the bottom. The player must steer the snowboarder, coming down from the top, around the snowball and into the goal. The snowboarder automatically moves downward, but can be steered at sharp angles to the left and right. However, doing so means not descending as quickly, so steering too much can prevent the player from reaching the goal. Hitting the walls or a snowball placed randomly in the middle knocks over the cause players to fail the microgame.
WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$![edit]
- 1st level difficulty: The goal encompasses the entire bottom edge of the screen.
- 2nd level difficulty: The goal is a bit narrower (1⁄3 of the screen) and it is not always in the center.
- 3rd level difficulty: The goal is very narrow (1⁄6 of the screen) and rarely in the center.
In WarioWare Gold instead of the goal becoming more narrow when the level increases, the entire slope becomes narrower. The snowball has been replaced by a level specific obstacle, though all of them are round and of roughly the same shape. This mircogame is played with Twist inputs, with the direction of the tilt corresponding exactly to how the board turns. The limits on how the snowboarder cannot stop moving downward still apply, restricting the maximum useful angles. There is a new animation where the snowboarder falls over after colliding with walls or the obstacle.
WarioWare Gold[edit]
- 1st level difficulty: The ski slope is wide. The obstacle is a rock with snow on the top. There is always space on both sides of the rock, though one passage can be narrower than the other one.
- 2nd level difficulty: The ski slope is narrower. The obstacle is a snowman. Hitting it makes its right glove fall off. The snowman may be flush with one side of the ski slope.
- 3rd level difficulty: The ski slope is even narrower. The obstacle is a bear eating a fish. Hitting it makes it drop the fish. The bear may be flush with one side of the ski slope.
Mission[edit]
- Snow Way: In Level 1, the player has to clear the game after safely going through the narrow passage between the rock and one of the walls.
