Kabooms are enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They commonly appear in levels of the later worlds, especially the Lost World and K. Rool's Keep, though Kabooms first appear in the Gloomy Gulch level, Ghostly Grove. Their behavior is shared with Klobbers: they both hide in their barrel, then pop out when Diddy and Dixie get close, and run after them in an attempt to hurt them. Kabooms' TNT Barrels are distinguishable from normal ones, because the "N" of TNT is flipped. This is fixed after Diddy or Dixie jumps on it. The only major difference that Kabooms have from Klobbers is that a Kaboom's barrel explodes when it crashes into the lead Kong, with the resulting TNT blast defeating both of them. A Kaboom can more safely be defeated from either having a projectile thrown at it, such as a barrel or a kannonball, or from being jumped on and thrown like a regular TNT Barrel. When jumped on, a Kaboom re-emerges shortly after, unless the Kongs quickly grab it. Kabooms also get defeated if they run onto the spikes in Klobber Karnage, but they do not explode. Kabooms are one of the few entities absent from the end credits, but the remake rectifies this by listing one with a Klobber.

They were given a larger appearance, and Kabooms no longer wear earrings. Kabooms attack similarly as before, though during their pursuit, TNT Bombers sometimes say "C'mon" in a high-pitched voice. TNT Bombers are more easily identifiable from their outer TNT Barrel. Like many other enemies, a TNT Bomber can be defeated from an orange, a musical instrument move, from a Kong's weapon, or a Super Slam, but with the side effect of also damaging the player character. TNT Bombers self-destruct after chasing after the active Kong for five seconds, and say "Uh oh" right before exploding. The only remains of a TNT Bomber after exploding is a pile of ash with two blinking eyes on top.

History
TNT Bombers are first shown during Diddy's segment of the DK Rap, where Diddy simultaneously defeats three of them by throwing an orange at them. During the game itself, TNT Bombers first appear in the later segment of Diddy's Mine Cart Ride, where they jump out of edges at random as an attempt to crash into him. If a TNT Bomber successfully hits into Diddy, he loses a few DK Coins. Angry Aztec and Gloomy Galleon are the only two levels where TNT Bombers appear.

Kabooms first appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest as common enemies. Kabooms are relatives to Klobbers. Like Klobbers, Kabooms wear barrels around their body, but Kabooms wear TNT Barrels. This makes them extremely dangerous, as a simple touch will cause them and a Kong to explode. Kabooms can be defeated by throwing a barrel or a kannonball at them. Kabooms can also be thrown and used like a normal TNT Barrel. The Kongs must jump on its head in order to use them as a TNT Barrel. Kabooms are predominantly found in the Lost World and K. Rool's Keep.

Kabooms make a return appearance in Donkey Kong 64. In this game, they are rarer than before, found only in Angry Aztec and Gloomy Galleon. Their attack method is the same as before though - they charge at one of the game's five playable Kongs, attempting to damage them with an explosion. Kabooms can be defeated by throwing an Orange at them, by using a musical instrument, or by shooting it with any of the Kongs' weapons. A shock wave attack also takes them out, but it'll hurt the Kongs in the process.

Profiles and statistics
Kabooms also appear in Diddy Kong's minecart challenge in the area Jungle Japes. In this area, they will jump of edges and explode, trying to take Diddy out with them.  On a side note, when a Kaboom chases a Kong in this game, they'll automatically self-destruct after about 5 seconds.

Kabooms are enemies introduced in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They are Kremlings and a variant of Klobber that disguise themselves as ordinary TNT Barrels and pop out when a character gets close. Kabooms were originally planned to have successors named Krackas in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, but went unused, and the rope-climbing Klasps are the only successor, though Krackas do appear in the Game Boy Advance version.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest[edit]

Kabooms, also named TNT Bombers[1] or "TNT Barrels",[2] are enemies in Donkey Kong 64.
