Goomba Bowling is a Free-for-All minigame featured in Mario Party 9 and Mario Party: The Top 100. A full version is available in Extra Mode, and it awards players five Party Points when finished.

Introduction[edit]

The camera, starting at a fortress, backs up toward the players, showing all 20 Goombas lined up in a single file and forming a slightly diagonal line while moving from side to side. Before the game starts, a "spinning" arrow determines who goes first.

Gameplay[edit]

Using a Red Shell, players try to knock out as many Goombas as they can in one throw. Each player has 15 seconds to plan out and take their shot. The Goombas continue to move from side to side as the player throws, requiring the players to time their shots carefully. Hitting every Goomba earns a player a perfect score of 20 points. Getting this earns the player a special "Strike!" message. The player with the most points at the end of the minigame wins.

The Extra Mode version of the minigame in Mario Party 9 consists of five frames for each player. Each player gets two tries to take out all 20 Goombas for each frame, and the player with the most points after the fifth frame is the winner. Players can earn bonus points if all the Goombas are taken out; a strike awards 20 points, while a spare awards 10 points. Players can achieve a perfect score of 200 if they manage to get a strike on every frame.
