Gordos are a species of enemy in the Kirby series that resemble sea urchins. In Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Gordo appeared as a normal enemy inhabiting flying and swimming areas. Much like in the Kirby series, Gordos were nearly indestructible, only being killed by a Star or Koopa Shell, but contradicted their role in Kirby by moving up and down when approached, accompanied by the widening of their usually-bored eyes. (In the Kirby series, Gordo's eyes are perpetually open, and a few icy rocks from Frozen Kirby can KO them, along with 10 hammerings from Hammer Kirby.) They appear once again in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, acting as one of the enemies King Dedede can toss when using Waddle Dee Toss. Sometimes, instead of a Waddle Dee, King Dedede will rarely pick up a Gordo and toss it instead. Apparently, it will continue to roam around the stage after it is been thrown. It also appears during King Dedede's Final Smash attack, Waddle Dee Army, reprising its role from Waddle Dee Toss. However, it appears to be much stronger than the Gordos from Waddle Dee Toss.

Unibo[1] are enemies in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. They are nearly indestructible spiky round enemies that inhabit flying and swimming areas. Unibo are encountered in the Hippo stage and the second level of the Turtle Zone. They can be defeated from either a Star or a Koopa Troopa shell. Unibo are stationary until Mario comes near, at which point they shake on the spot to make themselves harder to avoid. They reappear in Mario & Wario, where they are redesigned to look more like spiked balls and have no visible eyes. Unibo appear in two varieties: Those with blue bodies move vertically, and those with yellow bodies move horizontally. They no longer sleep and are constantly moving around.

The original appearance of Unibo is very similar to both Gordo from the Kirby series and Sea Urchins from the series The Legend of Zelda.
