World 5-3 is the third level of World 5 in Super Mario Bros. Special. It is an athletic stage set atop many islands.
Layout[edit]
The level opens with a trio of islands above a pit filled with Red Cheep-cheep, which then leads into a trio of ascending islands before lowering back down to an arrangement of four islands, two upper and two lower, with a Pipe between them. After this set of islands, the Red Cheep-cheeps dissipate. To the right is a Scale Lift and a Red Koopa Paratroopa, which bridges the gap between a pair of wide islands, which both have empty Pipes on their rims. The left wide island has a ? Block containing a powerup. After the second wide island are two thin islands with Red Cheep-cheep beneath them, leading to a Turtle Cannon that Mario must jump across to reach a pair of islands stacked on top of one another. To the right is a Warp Pipe with a Piranha Plant inside it, as well as the flagpole. Should Mario choose to enter the Warp Pipe, he will enter an underground bonus area with Brick Block floors, Icicles, and plenty of Coins before emerging from the first pipe of the stage.
