- Not to be confused with Tiki Tong Terror.
Tiki Tong Tower is the giant, seemingly living tower in the center of the Volcano in Donkey Kong Country Returns and is home to the leader of the Tiki Tak Tribe, Tiki Tong. After the volcano erupts in the game's opening, the tower rises from it and roars. Tiki Tong Tower can be seen from anywhere on the World Selection Screen, rising above the haze that normally shrouds the Volcano. Its lower jaw is always in motion. It appears to be an observation point; on the World Selection Screen it turns to face the camera though it cannot look up or down.
The Tower is prominently featured in the final level of the game, the Volcano level Tiki Tong Terror. In it, the Kongs have to use a Rocket Barrel to fly up the tower. Obstacles include drums extending from the the left and right sides of the screen, drums whose tops are covered with red clouds and spikes on the ends which extend to collide in the center of the screen, grinding saws on the ends of wider versions of the aforementioned drums that scroll across the screen but leave an opening between them, Tikis riding spiky balloons, and square blocks sticking out from the tower. This is to reach the inside of the tower, whose mouth opens up and stays open in a cutscene preceding the Rocket Barrel launch.
At the top, the Kongs land inside the Tiki Tong Tower's mouth, which closes behind them. The walls turn into a moving pattern that changes color, and the Kongs must fight Tiki Tong. When Tiki Tong is defeated, he explodes and launches the Kongs up through the Tower and past the moon. At this point the story splits depending on which Kongs are present, but the gist is that Donkey Kong punches the moon down and onto the tower, with or without Diddy Kong's help. Diddy Kong on his own accidentally crashes into the moon. The moon falls down and knocks out Tiki Tong Tower, at which point it is pushed back into the volcano. After completing the game, the tower no longer appears on the World Selection Screen.
