These enemies are mostly found at the [[Cliff]] area of [[Donkey Kong Island]], but they also appear in the level, [[Tumblin' Temple]]. Skellirexes mostly move around from left to right, usually posing a minimal threat to [[Donkey Kong]] and [[Diddy Kong]]. When attacked using any kind of attack method, they will lose their bodies and detach their heads, which become a slightly larger version of [[Skullyrex]]es. These begin creeping on the ground aimlessly, rapidly chomping air. Attacking the lone Skellirex head will destroy it.

There are also some Skellirexes that ride on [[Cart|mine carts]], which are found at [[Prehistoric Path]]. These Skellirexes can be taken out simply by jumping on them.

The Skellirex is an undead skeletal dinosaur-like enemy that appears in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch ports. They have a small body and a large crested skull vaguely reminiscent of Parasaurolophus. They first appear in the level Tumblin' Temple, but they mostly appear in the Cliff world. In Prehistoric Path, there are Skellirexes riding in Mine Carts.

Like most enemies, Skellirexes have a repeated pattern of walking left then right. If Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong come in contact with a Skellirex, it bites them and they lose a heart.
