They are encountered later on in the [[Hightail Falls Galaxy]], the [[Haunty Halls Galaxy]], the [[Sweet Mystery Galaxy]], and the [[Starshine Beach Galaxy]]. Smeeches flee from [[Mario]] and [[Luigi]] if they encounter them. However, if either player character is riding Yoshi, they float towards him, eventually kissing Yoshi and attaching to his mouth. This prevents Yoshi from using his tongue or eating [[fruit (Yoshi food)|fruit]]s, and Smeeches also latch on to his mouth if he tries to eat one. A Smeech remains attached to Yoshi's mouth for as long as it can, even when the player uses a [[Launch Star]]. Smeeches[1] are flying enemies in Super Mario Galaxy 2, only appearing in missions featuring Yoshi. They are pink spherical creatures with a pair of beady eyes and plump lips, and they are based on the Poink enemy from Super Mario Sunshine. Their name is a portmanteau of the words "smooch" and "leech."

They are encountered later on in the Hightail Falls Galaxy, the Haunty Halls Galaxy, the Sweet Mystery Galaxy, and the Starshine Beach Galaxy.
