The title of this article is official, but it comes from a Japanese source. If an acceptable English name is found, then the article should be moved to the new title.

Mame-san are green, bean-like enemies that appear in Yoshi's New Island. They are only found in World 1-8: Big Beanie's Castle. They approach Yoshi and Baby Mario by hopping towards him in a similar manner to Burts from the previous Yoshi's Island games. They are the only new enemies in the game that are not a variant of an existing enemy. In the castle's final room, Kamek "plants" a Mame-san with his hammer, which grows into a beanstalk leading to the sky, where it grows into Big Beanie, the boss of the level. During the boss battle, Big Beanie spits out Mame-san at Yoshi, which he can eat to make eggs to throw at Big Beanie.
Profiles[edit]
- Shogakukan guide: その名のとおり、マメのような形をした敵。地面を大きくはずみながらヨッシーのほうに近づいてくる。地面に着地したところを食ベて、タマゴにしてしまおう。[1](As its name suggests, this enemy is shaped like a bean. It approaches Yoshi, bouncing on the ground. Eat him when he lands on the ground and turn him into an egg.)
