Spike Blops reside in the Trash Pit and the Pump Works. They can only be damaged by hammers and some [[Bros. Attack|Special/Bros. Mario and Luigi cannot jump on them in battle to attack or even in the overworld as a First Strike to trigger a fight, as they will simply land on the spines, take one point of damage and most likely forfeit their turn; the two Special Attacks Spin Pipe and Magic Window, being jump-based, also cause the same thing to happen.

In battle, Spike Blops attack by shuffling across the screen towards a bro and must be countered with a hammer swing, dealing damage. They also will jump up to and crawl along the ceiling to fall spikes first on Mario or Luigi to attack; their shadow indicates where they are aiming. This attack is countered with a hammer swing as well.

Spike Blops are sometimes fought with Goombules in the Trash Pit, and Dried/Bubble Bloopers and Protobatters in the Pump Works.

Variant of Spiny

Spike Blops are Spiny-like creatures inhabiting the Trash Pit and the Pump Works of Bowser's body and enemies featured in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake They are creatures with slimy teal bodies that are protected by Spiny Shells. Their English name could be based on Spike Top's.

In battle, Spike Blops attack by shuffling across towards Mario or Luigi, but may instead jump up to and crawl along the ceiling to fall onto a bro, their shadow indicating whom they will land on. For the first attack, in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, a Spike Blop creates a brief trail of slime as it moves towards Mario or Luigi.[1] In both cases, a Spike Blop can be countered with a hammer. Jump attacks do not work, since a Spike Blop's spikes damage the bro who tries, including from a First Strike. Spike Blops sometimes accompany Goombules in the Trash Pit, and Dried/Bubble Bloopers and Protobatters in the Pump Works.
