Sneak n' Snore is a 4-player mini-game found in Mario Party 2. The game involves players, wearing barrels, trying to sneak past a sleeping Chain Chomp in order to escape from a dungeon. If one of the players presses his or her button at one end, he or she has to go back to the other side of the room to the door that is opened. When the Chain Chomp awakes, which it does frequently, it eliminates any exposed player from the game by dumping him or her into a warp pipe. The player who presses the button and reaches the opened door first wins.

Mario Party Superstars:

Sneak 'n' Snore (also formatted as Sneak 'N' Snore)[1] is a 4-Player minigame found in Mario Party 2 and Mario Party Superstars.

Gameplay[edit]

Based on Red Light, Green Light, the minigame involves players wearing barrels and trying to sneak past a sleeping Chain Chomp in order to escape from a doghouse. They can escape only by traveling to one end of the room, pressing their button, and then escaping through the now-open door on the other side. There is also a big delay between releasing the Control Stick and the character hiding, as the character first gradually slows down their movement before coming to a complete stop, meaning the farther the Control Stick is tilted, the longer it takes for a character to hide when it is released. When the Chain Chomp awakes, which it does frequently, it eliminates any exposed player from the minigame by dumping them into a Warp Pipe. If the player is hidden in a barrel, the Chain Chomp does not grab them. The player who presses the button and reaches the opened door first wins. If the Chain Chomp grabs all the players or time runs out, the minigame ends in a draw.

In Mario Party 2, the barrels have the colors and symbols relevant to the characters, such as Mario's hat for Mario and an egg for Yoshi, while in Mario Party Superstars, the barrels have a star symbol and are colored in the standard red, blue, green, and yellow (for Players 1 to 4, respectively).

In Mario Party 2, the minigame ends immediately when one player reaches the opened door. In Mario Party Superstars, the minigame does not end until the placements have been determined: Players who are caught by the Chain Chomp automatically receive last place, while players who successfully escape receive rankings based on when they escape, and they immediately run out the door after they escape.

Ending[edit]

In Mario Party 2, the camera zooms in on the winner, who does their winning animation. In Mario Party Superstars, the winner (if any) is credited, but they are not seen onscreen. Also, if all four players manage to avoid getting caught by the Chain Chomp, whoever gets left behind scowls in sadness as the winner is credited.
