Bottles is a supporting character in the Club Nintendo comic "Super Mario in Aloha Hawaii." He brings Mario along on a trip to Hawaii. While there, the two get into many shenanigans, including entering into a golf tournament. However, they accidentally wreck the course and Bottles is last seen being chased by Mario into the horizon.
In Banjo-Kazooie, Bottles is Banjo's friend and neighbor. He is first shown at the beginning of the game coming out of a molehill and talking with Tooty, who asks him if he has seen Banjo today. Seeing Gruntilda flying on her broomstick nearby, he asks her if that is Banjo in the air. No sooner has he finished saying this than Grunty swoops down and kidnaps Tooty, taking her back to her lair. He makes many attempts to rouse the sleeping Banjo during the kidnapping, but to no avail. When Banjo and Kazooie finally emerge from the house, Bottles, after informing Banjo that Gruntilda kidnapped his sister, proceeds to teach them six elementary moves, with which he hopes the duo will be able to traverse the first part of the witch's lair relatively unscathed. He then appears in every level throughout the game (with the exception of the last two levels) where he will teach Banjo and Kazooie up to three additional moves, which will eventually help them defeat the witch. The duo must locate every one of his molehills throughout each level, which is where he will teach them the new move. At the end of the game, he is seen at a barbecue outside Banjo's house, and again after Banjo and Kazooie have defeated Gruntilda, where he is sitting on the beach with them.

Banjo-Tooie
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
At the beginning of Banjo-Tooie, Bottles is seen playing a game of cards with Banjo, Kazooie, and Mumbo Jumbo inside Banjo's house. At one point, Kazooie tricks him by saying that Grunty is coming so that she could steal some of his money. When Grunty's sisters arrive at Spiral Mountain to free her from her grave, Mumbo goes outside to investigate. After Grunty's resurrection, Mumbo bursts through the door, telling everyone that Grunty is back, and that she is about to blast the entire house with a powerfull spell. Bottles, believing that he is being tricked again, remains inside the house when the spell obliderates it. In the morning, his charred body walks out of the house and collapses, at which point his angel leaves his body and floats above it, signifying his death. Banjo and Kazooie can revisit any of Bottles' old molehills in Spiral Mountain, where his angel will remind them how to perform any of their old moves if they have forgotton. The player can view Bottles' decaying body lying on the ground, outside Banjo's house. When talked to, Bottles' angel will tell them to hurry up and bring his body back to life.
Bottles is a background character and a primary spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Bottles appears in the background of the Spiral Mountain stage as part of the Banjo & Kazooie downloadable content pack. Bottles' spirit uses his new model in the game as artwork.

When Banjo and Kazooie make it to the final level of the game, Cauldron Keep, they are able to use Grunty's "Big O' Blaster" to blow the life force right back into the lifeless body of Bottles, who quickly stands up, and, realizing he is late for dinner, leaves for home at once. When he gets there, his wife Mrs. Bottles is slightly angry that he is so late, stating that she doesn't care how burnt his dinner is, he is still going to eat it. When Klungo and King Jingaling arrive at his house for a party, he orders a few boxes of Lardy's Pizza. When Banjo, Kazooie, Humba, Mumbo, and Jamjars finally arrive at his house ready to party, they find that everything has been eaten already. When they all start to argue, Bottles tells them to go outside. He is not seen again for the rest of the game.

Bottles also reappears in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, the latest game in the Banjo series. Apparently, his family has now left him due to the trauma caused by his death and resurrection. As such, he moved away to Showdown Town and became the city's tourist information officer. He also appears in each of the five levels, where he plays a different role each time.

<references/>
A special gameplay mode entitled "Bottles' Revenge" was originally supposed to be incorporated into Banjo-Tooie. The mode made use of the Gameshark for the N64. When the player entered a certain code via the Gameshark, the angel Bottles hovering over his dead body would turn into a red "Devil Bottles" instead. Supposedly, the Devil Bottles would then follow Banjo and Kazooie around for the remainder of the game, which a second player could control at any time by plugging in a second controller. In doing so, the second player would be able to take control of any number of lesser enemies at will, a feature which could be used to jokingly deter the first player from making any progress whatsoever. This would not work on bosses however, and the Devil Bottles would leave whenever the duo entered into a boss battle, saying that he was not needed here. Sadly though, Bottles' Revenge was subsequently removed from the game altogether, due to the fact that it was still undergoing heavy modification at the time of the game's release, and would not be finished in time. The face icon of Devil Bottles does however make an appearance on one of the answers during Grunty's Tower of Tragedy Quiz at the end of the game.

*It is shown that Bottles harbors some resentment toward Kazooie, which seems to have begun long before the events of Banjo-Kazooie. This resentment is also felt by Bottles' brother, Jamjars, who likewise refuses to put up with Kazooie's poor attitude.
