The 3-Up Heart[1] is a heart-shaped item that first appears in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. As the name implies, it grants the player three extra lives. Originally, it was depicted as a 1-Up Heart with a "3" written on it, and it was found only in minigames. It reappears in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, where it is depicted as a blinking heart and shows up in hard-to-reach places and secret rooms. It remains immobile and does not disappear until it is collected.
Other items that award three extra lives have appeared in other games of the Super Mario franchise, usually in the form of the 3-Up Moon.
