Syrup Castle, also referred to as the Pirates' Castle,[1] is the stronghold of the pirate Captain Syrup and her minions. In Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, Wario had to trek through Kitchen Island to get here and re-steal the giant golden Toadstool statue.
History[edit]
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3[edit]
In Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, the castle sits atop a massive statue of Princess Toadstool. The third level is the castle. As Wario progresses, the castle blows apart showing the inner statue. The castle is built on the statue and around it, but once the castle was destroyed the statue was exposed for the taking. Before Wario can take the statue, though, Mario arrives and snatches it away, though Wario is still able to achieve his goal of buying his own castle thanks to a Genie. Two treasures are hidden in this world.
Courses[edit]
Image | Name | Description
|
---|---|---|
Course No.37 | A predominantly forest-themed course taking place just outside the previous world, Parsley Woods, and ending at the foyer of the castle itself. | |
Course No.38 | Set entirely within the castle, Wario explores various dark, tight rooms with many enemies and obstacles in this course. | |
Course No.39 | Mostly takes place outside following the demolition of the castle's outer walls in the previous course. The last treasure is hidden in this course. | |
Course No.40 | The final course of the world and the game. Captain Syrup and the Genie are fought at the end. |
Wario Land II[edit]
Syrup Castle reappeared in the sequel, Wario Land II and just like before it was the last chapter to be cleared. Wario has chased the Black Sugar Gang and their leader Syrup through several places of the land, until he finally learns that they reached their base safely. Wario then sets out to raid the castle, beat the pirates up and steal his treasure back. At the end, he battles Captain Syrup in one of her various crafts.
The castle is once again seen in a brief cutscene after Wario obtained all of the game's treasure, completed the Picture Panel and witnessed every ending sequence, when Wario sets out to steal Syrup's treasure.
