Game Guy's Roulette is a Game Guy minigame found in Mario Party 3.

Gameplay

The player attempts to choose which area on the roulette wheel the Red Shell will spin into, with smaller areas being worth more coins. After the player chooses an area, Game Guy spins the shell around the roulette. If the shell spins into the area the player chose, their coins are multiplied by the number listed next to their choice. However, if the shell spins into a different area than the area the player chose, the player loses all of their coins.

Spaces on the roulette

  • The green Koopa Troopa area contains six slots on the roulette wheel and doubles the player's coins.
  • The dark blue Bob-omb area contains five slots on the roulette wheel and multiplies the player's coins by four.
  • The brown Goomba area contains four slots on the roulette wheel and multiplies the player's coins by eight.
  • The light blue Boo area contains three slots on the roulette wheel and multiplies the player's coins by 16.
  • The pink Toad area contains two slots on the roulette wheel and multiplies the player's coins by 32.
  • The red area directly in front of Game Guy contains just one slot on the roulette wheel and multiplies the player's coins by 64.

Expected value

Let B be the number of coins bet and observe that there are 21 slots on the roulette wheel. The following table shows the EV for each area the player can choose.

Bet on Expected value
Koopa Game Guy's Roulette icon.png 2B * 6/21 = 12B/21 ≈ 0.5714B
Bob-omb Game Guy's Roulette icon.png 4B * 5/21 = 20B/21 ≈ 0.9524B
Goomba Game Guy's Roulette icon.png 8B * 4/21 = 32B/21 ≈ 1.5238B
Boo Game Guy's Roulette icon.png 16B * 3/21 = 48B/21 ≈ 2.2857B
Toad Game Guy's Roulette icon.png 32B * 2/21 = 64B/21 ≈ 3.0476B
File:Game Guy Game Guy's Roulette icon.png 64B * 1/21 = 64B/21 ≈ 3.0476B

Although betting on Koopa Troopa is most likely to earn the player coins in a single minigame, constantly betting on Koopa Troopa makes the player most likely to lose coins in the long run. On the other hand, constantly betting on Toad or Game Guy makes the player more likely to triple their coins in the long run.

In-game text

  • Game Guy"Place your bet, then make your guess. If the shell stops in the area you chose, your coins will increase according to the odds. If the shell lands in another area, your coins will be mine."
