“We came here in search of a Power Star for our queen!”
Bee, Super Mario Galaxy 2

The Honeybloom Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2 that can be unlocked after feeding the Hungry Luma 700 Star Bits. This galaxy introduces the Bee Mushroom, which can turn Mario into Bee Mario, allowing him to fly for a short period of time. The whole level takes place on one large cube-shaped planet with a side-scrolling view. The stage is filled with several obstacles, including spiky Stretch Plants which Bee Mario has to dodge. There are also small plants that will grant Mario one Star Bit when touched. Mario enters this galaxy sliding along a long vine with the small plants, collecting more Star Bits on the way. Because the level is filled with tight spots and high areas, Mario will have to try to stay as Bee Mario for most of the level.

This galaxy, with the Honeyhop Galaxy, plays a jazzy remixed tune of the Honeyhive Galaxy / Gold Leaf Galaxy theme.

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all names are unofficial.

Upon entering the galaxy, Mario will find some Bees searching for their Queen's Power Star. Once Mario has progressed a bit more, he'll find a Bee Mushroom. To complete this mission, the plumber has to make his way to the end of the Honeybloom Planet using his Bee Form and bouncing off of grapes. When he gets there, he'll find the Power Star above a cloud guarded by a Choppah. After getting the Power Star, a Bee will send Mario a letter saying "Well done! None of us bees could get that Power Star!". The letter will also contain a 1-Up Mushroom.

The mission gets its name from combining the stereotypical beginning to biographies, "Humble Beginnings", with Bumblebee.

The Secret Wall Jump

To complete this mission, Mario has to use the first swing he finds. When swinging on it, he must perform a Star Spin to reach the two walls, then use the Wall Kick on them until he reaches the top. Then, the only thing left is to get the Power Star. After returning to Starship Mario, Mario will find a Bee will be on board.

Trivia

  • The Italian name of the mission "Bumble Beginnings", "Vola, vola, vola l'Ape Mario" is a reference to the Italian opening of the anime "Maya the Bee".
  • When the first mission is completed, the player will receive a letter from a bee saying thank you for finding a star, and they had trouble doing it.
  • The Honeybloom and Fleet Glide Galaxies are the only Hungry Luma galaxies in Super Mario Galaxy 2 that have no Prankster Comet, except the Green Comet. However, while the Honeybloom has the distinction of being the only Hungry Luma galaxy with a secret star, the Fleet Glide's would-be secret star is replaced with a Jibberjay invitation.
