The Tunnel (also known as the Underground Tunnel)[1] is a location in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake. It is located beneath Cavi Cape and located south-east of the Toad Town Caves. Bowser is catapulted here by a group of Bob-ombs shortly after Fawful kidnaps Princess Peach. Only two types of enemies appear here.

The area appears to be an underground railroad under construction. After navigating the tunnels, Bowser meets up with the Monty Bros. One of the four explains that they are trying to make a tunnel that will connect them to Toad Town. They use a huge machine to get the job done. A disgruntled Bowser reluctantly helps them achieve their goal. Mario and Luigi have to go to the Leg Outpost to give him power, though. Bowser has to achieve this before the battery dies in ninety seconds, in order to avoid having to pay 50 coins for a replacement battery. Bowser's power overcomes the challenge and the machine is totaled. Bowser heads in the next room to the Toad Town Caves, where the Dark Star is sealed.

The Mario Bros. are unable to access the Tunnel, as it requires breaking rocks and pushing buttons, which only Bowser can do.

The background music in the Tunnel is a slow and sombre composition, which is also used for the Toad Town Caves, Tower of Yikk, and Bowser Path.

A Chakroad can be found here, hidden beneath a wooden crate near a Warp Pipe that leads to the entrance of the area.
