Donkey Kong is one of 18-Volt's microgames in WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase. It returns in WarioWare Gold as one of 9-Volt's microgames. It is set in the game of the same name, in 25m.

Gameplay[edit]

Donkey Kong throws two barrels which the player must tap in order to destroy. If one touches Mario, the game is lost. If the barrels are destroyed, Mario will be able to climb to the top and reach Pauline, thus winning the game.

In WarioWare Gold this microgame is modified heavily. Mario is static, standing on one of the four girders at random. There are already a number of barrels coming down at him, the number varies based on the level. They bounce off the walls as they descend, but may choose to roll down a ladder instead. Destroying the barrels is justified in the narrative by the player swinging the hammer at them, earning 300 points apiece, but the gameplay remains the same.

WarioWare Gold[edit]

  • 1st level difficulty: There are two barrels already present at the start.
  • 2nd level difficulty: There are four barrels already present at the start.
  • 3rd level difficulty: There are five barrels already present at the start. The oil drum at the start of 25m is on fire, and will spawn Fireballs that approach Mario. Since they move so slowly, Fireballs are not a threat unless Mario is on the lowest girder. Fireballs can be destroyed by the hammer for 800 points.
