Mecha Sonic,[1] also known as Robo Sonic,[2] is a robot replica of Sonic, just like Metal Sonic. He makes a brief appearance in the Super Mario franchise within the game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 as a boss in the Tokyo Sky Flight minigame found in the Story Mode and the Game Room.

History

Mecha Sonic first made his appearance in the game Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as the boss the player must defeat before fighting the Death Egg Robot. He also later appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure, again, appearing as boss.

Mecha would later appear in the the Sonic the Hedgehog DLC pack in Minecraft, although his appearance isn't fully connected to the Super Mario franchise, both Mecha Sonic and many Super Mario characters do appear in Minecraft.

Mecha Sonic's boss fight in the Tokyo Sky Flight minigame is very similar to his fight in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which has him spinning around in a ball form, then shooting out spikes.
