The Excitement Battery is an item in the Story Mode of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The battery charges by cheers from the crowd at Olympic events.

The Excitement Battery is a replacement battery made by Eggman Nega to be used once the battery of the Tokyo '64 runs low. Tails notices the Tokyo '64 is running out of battery when a red light starts flickering, so Eggman Nega tells Tails about his Excitement Battery. After hearing about it, the group members go off to collect the Excitement Battery from Larry. He refuses to give them the battery because he does not believe that Eggman Nega had sent them to collect it. Larry then calls many Shy Guys to fight Tails. After Tails defeats all the Shy Guys, Larry runs off to the Equestrian Park, dropping entry passes in the process. The group members head to the Equestrian Park, where they find Larry. He still does not give over the battery, but he says he will if they can beat him in Equestrian. Peach decides to compete against him; once she wins, Larry hands over the Excitement Battery.

After acquiring the battery, the group competes in many Olympic events to charge the battery. Once the battery is full, inside the game, the five trapped characters have collected enough gold medals to return to the real world, but the game's battery runs out, causing the game environment to fade away and turn black and each of the five characters to fade away into a single pixel. Tails and Luigi quickly switch out the battery, resulting in the five pixels regaining their forms and the game world becoming colorful again. The five characters soon exit the console and return to the real world.
