Grabbin' Gold is a 1-vs.-3 minigame that is found in Mario Party 8. The minigame consists of getting gold coins.

Introduction[edit]

The minigame starts in an arcade that consists of mostly claw machines with prizes such as Goomba or Koopa Troopa plushies. A Koopa Troopa (in Party Mode) or Mii (in the Free Play Arcade) attempts to get a penguin plushie at one of them. The camera then moves right to the two other machines. The four players arrive at the scene and are excited to play. The solo player takes the machine on the left, and the trio takes the one on the right.

Gameplay[edit]

The solo player has a large basket, and the team players each have a small basket. In addition, the solo player's machine drops coins and Spiny Eggs at a steady rate, while the team's is more erratic. The players must move their baskets to grab coins and avoid Spiny Eggs. If a player catches a Spiny Egg, they will be unable to catch coins for a short time. There is no winning or losing in this game (unless no coins were caught).

Ending[edit]

All the players do winning poses (or losing poses if no coins were collected), and the coins they collected are added to their inventory.

Controls[edit]

  • Wii Remote: Push joystick left and right
  • Buttons: None

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"Bonus minigame! Move your basket to catch as many falling coins as you can! It's three against one!"
  • Hint"If you get hit by a Spiny Egg, you won't be able to collect coins for a few moments."
