A Boo Barrel,[1] also named Ghost Barrel[2][3] (alternatively formatted as Ghost barrel),[4] is a ghostly type of barrel that appears in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III. Boo Barrels function identically to Blast Barrels aside from the fact that they vanish and reappear every few seconds, similarly to the ropes of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Each Boo Barrel faces in a set direction, which determines where Dixie and Kiddy get blasted to. The direction they face upon appearing is usually randomized, and thus, the Kongs often have to time their entry just right to progress. Boo Barrels are also sometimes hazardous obstacles, as they can blast the Kongs into enemies. Such Boo Barrels must be passed while invisible.

In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, the Boo Barrels appear only in the Kaos Kore level Creepy Caverns. They appear a little more often in Donkey Kong Land III, in three levels: Stalagmite Frights, Haunted Hollows, and Ghoulish Grotto.
