Relatives

Eye Beamers are obstacles in Super Mario Galaxy. These indestructible mechanical eye-like objects first appear on an optional path in the Dusty Dune Galaxy mission Blasting through the Sand, but they are much more prominent in the Dreadnought Galaxy mission Infiltrating the Dreadnought, where they appear at the beginning and the end. They directly emit laser beams from their eyes, damaging Mario or Luigi if he touches them. The side opposite to an Eye Beamer's eye is flat, allowing the player to jump on it and use it as a platform. Some Eye Beamers are stationary, while others move, which can allow the player to cross gaps. The first planet of the latter mission also features identical lasers coming out of its surface towards the planet's other half due to the planet's hourglass-like shape. On some planets, they initially appear facing away from the planet, but they turn towards it after a certain criterion is fulfilled.
