Revision deletion
Hi, could you please delete the only revision made by 107.170.37.176, of whom you just blocked? It contains a racist slur. Thanks! (T|C) 16:07, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
- Heh, yeah, I was going to, but then I got called to do something for a few minutes :P Don't worry, though, I'll usually hide stuff like that. 16:11, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
- Additionally, just like your edits, it might be a good idea to minimize the number of log and revision deletions you make at once, because it is possible to select multiple revisions/events to delete (might want to ask users that also have that privilege). Just something I noticed. ;) (T|C) 16:26, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
Featured Article rules
No, that's not what that rule means. It's talking about votes that has per'd the vote asking for removal. Those would be automatically removed if the original vote is gone. Ray Trace(T|C) 16:51, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
- MarioWiki:Featured_articles#How_to_nominate doesn't say that anywhere, though yes, they would be removed as the vote would be missing then. "Any vote that has per'd without providing any additional reason will also be removed" is placed within the information on removing support and/or oppose votes. Seems to be more along the lines of "you need to provide a removal reason of your own." 16:56, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
- That's not what that rule means at all. It's talking about Votes that per'd the original opposition. Think about it, we shouldn't have to go through the same process again to remove votes that simply repeat what the original opposet said, that's why that rule is put up there in the first place. I've worked with this system for a long time, per votes when dealing with removal of opposes is always allowed. Ray Trace(T|C) 17:00, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
- Per votes on removal have certainly gone through a number of times, but based on where this rule is placed, it seems like this statement has been misread for a while. Either that or the rule is placed in the wrong location. 17:06, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
- It's just really badly worded, that's all. I don't want to change official rules around, so you might want to bring it up on the staff board. Ray Trace(T|C) 17:08, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
- Already doing that. If it comes out that I'm in the wrong, I'll fix everything myself. 17:10, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
- Just gonna quickly throw my weight in here, and refer you to my post here. Hopefully it will iron out all confusion :) Yoshi876 (talk)

SMG2 Update
Hi, nice job so far. It's great that you managed to split the missions into their own articles. As for me, the next one I need to expand is Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet, and I believe you're working on Bowser Jr.'s Fearsome Fleet next, so I guess we're even. All seems good so far!
The only thing we haven't resolved is how we'll complete World S. Since Rolling Coaster Galaxy is already expanded, how about if we take every other galaxy encountered. I'll take the smaller portion, and you take the bigger portion. How does that work for you? (T|C) 22:14, 4 June 2017 (EDT)
- Sorry, I meant "portion" by the number of galaxies. Oh, and now that I think about it, since Rolling Coaster is complete, that leaves six galaxies, so we can easily split up the work there. (T|C) 22:23, 4 June 2017 (EDT)

OK. So can I remove my warning thing now? I hope you checked the section, because I've written something there. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:28, 23 June 2017
Also, I noticed on your scrollbox that you offered condolences to Walkazo (talk)'s family. If you don't mind, what happened to her? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 15:53, 24 June 2017 (CDT)
I'm sorry about that. I offer my sincere condolences to her family and those who knew her. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:07, 24 June 2017 (CDT)

How is New Super Luigi U not considered part of the main Super Mario series? It's basically a port of New Super Mario Bros U and is considered to be part of the sub-series. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:11, 26 June 2017 (CDT)
Sorry about that. I just want to make sure everything's in top quality. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:23, 26 June 2017 (CDT)

Speaking of which, is there anything I can help with? Anything that needs repairing or fixing or whatnot? I just want to contribute lots of good content and things in general to the wiki. 17:33, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
OK, I will. Thanks, man! You've been a big help here for me on the wiki. 18:08, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
I was just joking around. I didn't mean any harm. I just tried to use how little leeway the wiki's policy gave on humor, is all. But I'm sorry if that hurt anyone--really. 21:39, 16 July 2017 (EDT)
Logo
Oh, it's just a reference to this video by Egoraptor (except he's kind of pointing at the search bar when I'm guessing he meant the YouTube logo, haha). It's basically saying, "You might know me from Super Mario Wiki." Mario JC 01:36, 21 June 2017 (EDT)
Sorry
Sorry, again, about earlier. I usually try my best to avoid edit wars, so I am not really sure why I continued to revert that edit. I guess I just didn't feel that it was a large enough problem to bring up on their talk page at the time, but I guess I was wrong that time. It will make sure it won't happen again though. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 22:27, 23 June 2017 (EDT)

I see you have very good artwork on your YouTube page. Do you think you can make this be the right size for my YouTube artwork without changing any details, just the size? Yoshi the SSM (talk) 12:00, 27 June 2017 (EDT)

I haven't uploaded any videos on my channel, yet. I don't have any videos on my computer. I will put a link to my YouTube channel on my Userpage once I have videos. Any tips on YouTube? good job
good job on the smb3 articles!
Mushroom World naming
We already have decisive proposals that motioned on the NES revision names for the worlds in Super Mario Bros. 3, especially considering the latest in-game name is technically Pipe Land in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U; an exception is unavoidable regardless of which name set is used, but the Land set is overall more consistent. Read into the comments of the latter if you need to understand more. Please move the upheld titles of Desert Land, Water Land, Giant Land, Sky Land, Ice Land, Pipe Land, and Dark Land all back to the way they were. Thanks. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:42, 4 July 2017 (EDT)
- My proposal was cancelled because of the arguments made by LinkTheLefty and Walkazo, and I would recommend that you read them fully if you have not done so already. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:19, 4 July 2017 (EDT)
- I should also point out that the first proposal LTL linked to definitely passed, and it decided that the locations should be moved to their Land names. Even if you disagree with it, you can't just ignore it, at least not without making a proposal to counter it. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:42, 4 July 2017 (EDT)
- I understand the proposal passed, and I understand the points it made. The problem here is the policy, where the most recent name should be used. I also realize that the policy says "the more commonly used modern name should be used as the title, rather than the historic name", but isn't the most recent naming more "modern" than the original? 15:50, 4 July 2017 (EDT)
- Exceptions can be made if a proposal passes. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:52, 4 July 2017 (EDT)
- It has been discussed a few times here and there, but the Mushroom World names have a somewhat complicated history as far as name changes go, so it should fall under the "certain exceptions" alluded to in policy, which some other proposals have made wherever simple adherence to the rules fail sense. To answer the question on the Wii version of Super Mario All-Stars, it's the SNES ROM slapped on a disc, so it's the unique set with Dark Land / Bowser's Castle as Castle of Koopa. Even still, the Land names are the most common and popular worldwide, having been used practically everywhere else (instruction booklets, other media, and even as late as some Advance material). Yes, if we were being super-strict about it, Pipe Land would have to be the article to be reverted back since it's the one mentioned by name in the Pipe trophy of both the North American and European/Australian versions of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, but in practice, that approach would only stick out like a sore thumb. In proposal, we went for a winner-take-all method for consistency's sake, and since Pipe Land is the most recent in-game, non-rerelease example, that would be the Land set by extension. LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:00, 4 July 2017 (EDT)
- So it's a consistency issue then... Ugh, every time I feel like I'm following policy, there is always going to be an exception or something I missed... Very well, then. I honestly like the consistent "Land" names myself as well, but I was trying to follow policy. ...I'll undo everything. 16:05, 4 July 2017 (EDT)

Big Boo's Haunt Edits
WHAT?! How is King Boo known as Big Boo in the DS version?! He HAS to be King Boo, right? I mean, COME ON NOW! And plus, can't Yoshi put on a cap when he enters the course? Please explain. Some of this just confuses me. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 12:33, 6 July 2017 (CDT)
And for Yoshi's case, can't he use a cap on the screen where the player selects the star? Also, a Luigi cap is in the course, so couldn't he use that too?

Yoshi proposal
Due to recent developments, I've come to the conclusion that the course of action that Mister Wu suggested and that you agreed with is the best thing to do. I want to propose a reworking of the Yoshi's Island series page to include all Yoshi platformers, be they in the Yoshi's Island series or not. How should I go about this? Should I cancel my previous proposal and make a new one?
(talk · edits) 14:36, 8 July 2017 (EDT)
- Alright, can you wait till tomorrow, though? I'm not sure I have time to make the proposal today.
- EDIT: Nevermind, you already did it.

Sorry
Sorry again about earlier. I wasn't trying to be a vandal. I just get frustrated when my edits keep getting undone, because I just want to contribute good edits and basically make the place better. So when my edits get undone, I just think I keep screwing up. 17:45, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
Shroob Edit
Did you really say that the Shroobs were funny to look at? Well, I have to agree. But still, aren't they generally a dark and evil force in PiT? That was what I was trying to convey. 20:25, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
Your next project suggestions
Many of the levels in the original Super Mario Bros. has not been done (World 1-1 to World 2-1 have been done). Also, EVERY SINGLE LEVEL in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels has not been done, even though there are links to them on their respect worlds. These are only suggestions, but they need to be done according to the policy. Yoshi the SSM (talk) 13:20, 15 July 2017 (EDT)
- I was thinking about doing those, but I don't have an easily accessible version of them myself to use. I have Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, but that can be difficult to work with. I could hook up our NES or SNES, but they're having some issues cause they're old :P I don't know, I'll see what I can come up with regarding those, but I also have a few other unrelated projects in mind I can work on. 13:25, 15 July 2017 (EDT)

You're welcome. I just wanted to give a hand, is all. 16:03, 15 July 2017 (EDT)

Hi, did you somehow miss creating an article on World 7-8 of Super Mario Bros. 3? Just checking. (T|C) 13:26, 16 July 2017 (EDT)
SM64 and SM64DS Course Edits
Oh, come on! Why can't we have all of the levels connected? I mean, all of the courses are still part of the same game, and by your reasoning, we should be separating World 1-Castle of New Super Mario Bros. from World 2-1, World 2-Castle from World 3-1, and so on and so forth. Why can't we do the same for Super Mario 64? That is, put all of the levels in one continuous string from Bob-omb Battlefield's first level to Rainbow Ride's last level? We do that all the time for the 2D Mario games. It just feels wrong to separate all of the courses like that. Is there something I'm missing? 17:06, 17 July 2017 (EDT)
- Thing with the Super Mario Bros.-type games is they're linear. The last level of one world will lead right into the next world. Not the same with the 3D titles. 17:12, 17 July 2017 (EDT)
Vandal ATTACK!
UH OH! We got a vandal repeatedly trying to attack the wiki!!! Do you need my help? 18:36, 17 July 2017 (EDT)
Also, why is this guy obsessed with James Maupin? I know you don't know, but I had to ask that anyway. 18:52, 17 July 2017 (EDT)
- Vandals are weird :P Also, was a little blunt with my earlier answer: You can help with reverting edits if you can, so long as you don't engage in an edit war or conversation with the vandal, but the blocking can only be done by members of the staff. If there's no staff member online (which has been rare, lately), there's always the admin noticeboard staff members watching it will get a notification from. 18:56, 17 July 2017 (EDT)
A Beanish Objection
WHAT? The Mario & Luigi (series) page says it RIGHT HERE! "The first four games feature at least one Beanish character." 20:08, 17 July 2017 (EDT)
- Ah, that's because of Fawful, who is a Beanish character. The Beanish article is referring to the species as a whole, yes, but the statement made it seem like it was saying the other generic characters also appear, which they don't. 20:13, 17 July 2017 (EDT)
My Dang Talk Page
Okay, what the heck just happened on my talk page while I was gone? Oh, great. Another vandal, huh? Anyway, thanks for taking care of that for me while I was asleep. But for Pete's sake, what time-zone is this website in?! IT SAYS 19:something when you look at the Recent Changes edits when it's 2:00 in St Louis! 15:32, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
- Rule #2
- According to the signature time stamps and the preferences, the wiki follows Eastern Time. It's currently 12:36 for me, but time stamp says 15:36 EDT. If you update your preferences, you can have the Recent Changes show the times for the timezone you're in. Not sure what to do about the signature time stamps, though. 15:36, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
Lakithunder Conspiracy: Attack or Not?
Wait a minute. You can literally see that Lakithunder is blasting Peach's Castle with a lightning bolt! How is he not confirmed? 18:16, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
- I was about to reverse your edit when Alex did at the same time. You can see a generic large thundercloud, but it was never said if that was caused by Lakithunder. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:19, 18 July 2017 (CT)
Does it HAVE to be said to be confirmed? Because that cloud looks VERY suspiciously like Lakithunder. The game might have just shown you it was Lakithunder who did it. 18:27, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
- Yes, it has to be officially confirmed. Otherwise, it's speculation, which is something the wiki frowns upon. LB (talk • edits • forum) 18:29, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
- Might does not make right. Might makes speculation. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:30, 18 July 2017 (CT)
grumbles quietly All right, then. It's speculation. 18:32, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
Also, even if Lakithunder wasn't confirmed to be behind the attack, he still looks very suspiciously like the thundercloud that struck Princess Peach's Castle. Should I mention the similarities on the New Super Mario Bros. article? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:36, 28 July 2017 (EDT)
Raccoon Mario vs Tanooki Mario
I know both have appeared in the 2D games. But that's the point: Tanooki Mario has only appeared in ONE 2D game-- its debut in Super Mario Bros. 3. Since then, he's commonplace in the 3D games, and Raccoon Mario is commonplace in the 2D games and not the 3D ones. And IT JUST SAID THAT RACCOON MARIO IS OFTEN CONFUSED FOR TANOOKI MARIO! "A related form is Tanooki Mario (which it is often mistaken for)..." Did you miss that?
Okay. Sorry about yelling earlier, also. I just kind of lost it when you said that the two couldn't be mixed up, when they're so similar. 19:50, 18 July 2017 (EDT)

Requesting permission to split Super Mario enemies
I've got a page ready to be submitted to split the list of common/notable enemies from the Super Mario series page, but I wondered if that would break any rules to do so without permission. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:07, 18 July 2017 (CT)
- MarioWiki:Article size states that it may need to be split if its page size is more than 50KB, which it is. It's even more than 100KB. However, the divide would look inconsistent with the other charts, unless you plan on making a conglomeration of the charts on one page? I don't think it would break any rules, though. I'll take it up with the others, though, see what they have to say. 20:15, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
- So should I just wait then? If I did split it, I'd link it from the Super Mario page, although I think it should keep the pictured format. (that took a lot of work, especially getting the octoombas to look the same size) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:17, 18 July 2017 (CT)
- Or should I just go ahead and do it? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:38, 18 July 2017 (CT)
- Okay, I see you've already split it (and then reverted it), despite me saying to hold off. tbh, splitting would've been avoided if you took my earlier suggestion to do a "Related enemies" bar and not made the list that large. Not every enemy and obstacle needs to be added, otherwise we'd just say "Take a look at the List of enemies." 21:02, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
- You didn't say to hold off first. I asked, then you said to hold off after I had already done it. The problem with "list of enemies" is that it includes enemies from other subfranchises, like Paper Mario and Yoshi, which are different. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:08, 18 July 2017 (CT)
- I thought "I'll take it up with the others" implied that there would be a discussion on the subject and that no further action should be taken, but I guess not.
- I realize there is a large amount of enemies and obstacles in the main Super Mario series, and while I think you've done a good job with the chart, I also think there needs to be some re-thinking here. Even Yoshi's Island (series) and Donkey Kong Country (series) don't list everything. 21:12, 18 July 2017 (EDT)
- Donkey Kong and Wario Land have little to no consistency at all with enemies, so listing them all would be pointless, and nearly all the Yoshi enemies are Shy Guys, so that would just become dull. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:14, 18 July 2017 (CT)

Coverage
Just out of curiosity, what do you think shouldn't be covered by MarioWiki? I've seen you having gripes here and there in your edit summaries and talk pages. I really have issues covering games in the Donkey Kong Country (series) and Super Smash Bros. (series) the way we do, just for two examples. I think coverage of those games detracts from maintaining pages within the scope of our wiki. I'm not saying games that feature Donkey Kong shouldn't be covered, because games like Donkey Kong (game) and Mario vs. Donkey Kong should be covered by Super Mario Wiki, but the rest of coverage should be showcased on DKWiki. Same goes for covering Mario-related aspects of the Super Smash Bros. (series), but covering things like Ness and Ganondorf, leave that to SmashWiki. Coverage would be better on dedicated wikis instead of ours. With those articles where they should be, we can focus on Mario articles that truly matter. If we were to better define what should be covered, how should it be defined? Seems like the definition is very loose. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:37, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
- Yeah, Tara Strong, and yes, I do agree with how we should represent that voice actor. Definitely OK with a few references to Wikipedia, but if the page are dominated by them, redo the article. Had this problem with Yoichi Kotabe a while back.
- Anyways, the games series in question, I feel have their own identity that doesn't fit the Mario universe. Just because the character is related doesn't mean their games should be covered. That is why I gave the two game examples I did. As for the Wolf O'Donnell example, I think we are underestimating, underutilizing, and not underemphasizing Special:Interwiki and {{NIWA}}. Not going to do it but if we turn that article and ones like it into a redirect to point to List of characters in the Super Smash Bros. series (or the article exists and I can't find it) and then use the Interwiki to link to SmashWiki, I could accept that middleground. SmashWiki covers both as a fighter and as an origin story. The origin story page links to all fighter pages. Does the origin story cover extensively the games he appeared in? No. Just a brief overview, and then links to LylatWiki for the detailed coverage. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:17, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
You realize what this is, don't you, Alex95? This could possibly be one of the most major changes to the wiki ever, and just a HUGE project in general if this was undertaken. Count me in. 18:20, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
- Just thought of a different way to think about it. Do you see Super Mario 64 on DKWiki? No. Then why are we covering Donkey Kong 64? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:26, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
- Because DKWiki has been very poorly kept up-to date, and DK is an offshoot of Mario. So it all fits. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:28, 19 July 2017 (CT)
- Those articles seem OK to me because the coverage is limited to crossover appearances with the Mario universe. It's not like we are covering games in the Dragon Quest series. Mario doesn't appear in Donkey Kong 64, and if he does, it would likely fit in List of Mario references in Nintendo video games. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:42, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
- By that logic, we're better off splitting a Wario Wiki from Super Mario Wiki as well. No Wario game features Mario, aside from a few cameos and references. Having a physical resemblance to Mario doesn't make him any more eligible to have full coverage on this wiki than Donkey Kong is. DK and all related things are as much part of the Mario universe as Wario. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE
- ALso, yes, Mario does appear in DK64, in the arcade machine. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:54, 19, July 2017
- Heh, I completely forgot about that. 18:55, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
- Cameo at best is what I think about that as validation to cover the game as a whole. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:32, 19 July 2017 (EDT)

Thank you for ending that. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:05, 19, July 2017
- This conversation was designed between you and me, but others felt the need to jump in, making the conversation confusing to follow and reply to. I replied on my talk page because so much replying had to be done. One of my replies will explain what I was hoping to establish with this conversation, not exactly get what I want. It's going to take a lot of back and forth and cooperation between all sorts of members to shift focus of Super Mario Wiki. With my my recent uploads, I will still support covering the Wiki with what it wants, but I will still have lingering thoughts and feel uncomfortable covering it, but am willing to push it aside and keep the conversation going without acting on it. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:27, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
OK, I think there has been quite a misunderstanding that occurred, not helped out by other participants. I was NEVER looking to enact a change ASAP. Heck, I wasn't even expecting a change at any point in time. It would be nice, but not going to happen. The most I was expecting was critical thinking and debate, maybe even me trying to catch up what happened before November 2015, just between you and me, just because I saw one of your edits over at Tara Strong. I am confused and exhausted by what should have been an simple exchange. I know this is public, but there are some conversations I don't butt in, and other users did that. Occasionally I do, like with Time Turner (talk) seeing if he can get Baby Luigi (talk) to replace File:Brute.jpg, because I thought I could contribute something constructive to it. However, I don't think that's what users were doing in this conversation though. I don't think there is any reason to warn me at this point. Because this thing is so controversial, I'll stop talking about it. Can you make an official statement on my talk page that all participants should stop contributing to the conversation thread? I want it to end before things get out of hand. I have learned to never start an exchange like this again on a per user basis. I'll keep it strictly over on MarioWiki talk:Coverage. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 02:05, 20 July 2017 (EDT)
Super Hammer
I think it was talking about the spinning hammer badge that I forgot the name to. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:26, 19, July 2017
- ...Oh, wait, it's referring to the ability to knock enemies into each other in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The attack gets worsened, but I'm not sure if the attack only does one point of damage... Will boot up game and check. 19:30, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
- If memory serves me correct, regular hammer causes then to take 1 damage, Super causes the second to take 2 and the rest to take 1, and Ultra causes the second to take three, third to take two, and fourth to take one. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:34, 19, July 2017
I was referring to the fact that the Super Hammer causes a set damage to enemies behind the one on the front. For exemple if you haven't gotten the Ultra Hammer yet and still have only the Super Hammer than the Super Hammer attack will deal 4 damage to the enemy on the front; if you're fighting a row of enemies with 4 defense each than the Super Hammer attack will not deal any damage to the enemy on front but it will always deal 1 damage to the enemies behind it even if they have those 4 points of defense. Also, if you use Power Lift to increase you attack power, you will cause more damage to the enemy on the front but will still only cause 1 damage to the enemies behind it. So the damage dealt to the enemies behind the one being attacked is not affected by defenses or effects that enhance your attack, having always a set number of 1 attack point 2.82.91.44 19:48, 19 July 2017 (EDT)
Mario Boards Presentation
I just got the results for M3, the Mario Award that I'm presenting, and I have to make a presentation and send it. How to do it? Are there different ways? I'm a rookie, so I'm kind of new to this. 16:00, 21 July 2017 (EDT)
I woulda signed up to show some enemy sprites I've made/edited...but they aren't quite finished yet (but there is a lot). Next time, maybe. Is this an annual thing? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:55, 21 July 2017 (CT)
Sorry
Argh, I'm really sorry about that. I acted first without realizing who the guy was. It's all my fault there and not his. In fact, it was only when I looked at his userpage seconds later that I realized he was an experienced editor from the French Mario wiki, and that I had screwed up completely. I'm 14 years old, after all, and I just tend to act first and think later. I'm really sorry about that--and I mean every word of it.
I know. But I'm just plain sorry anyways. Argh, I feel really bad about that. It's my fault and not anyone else's. sigh I'm sorry, anyways. I hope you'll forgive me for my crappy judgment there.Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:11, 21 July 2017 (EDT)
Hi !
Hello Alex95, pleased to meet you ! Just going to say thanks for showing Skuchi that my contribution on Moe-Eye was, I think, legit enough with the official french Twitter account of the game. So I'm gonna of course help out with many french names and such, so see ya !

The enemy pages for Smash Run
In the infobox it says that the enemy comes from Mario! Wariopig (talk) 15:26, 22 July 2017 (EDT)Wariopig
Just go too one of the enemy pages on Super Smash Bros For 3DS/Wii U. Wariopig (talk) 15:32, 22 July 2017 (EDT)Wariopig
- I believe he's referring to how Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is listed as being a part of the Mario franchise alongside its series of origin. Flage, for example, lists both Kid Icarus: Uprising and Sm4sh. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:32, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
- Thank you! That's what I was talking about! Thanks Time Turner. Wariopig (talk) 15:36, 22 July 2017 (EDT)Wariopig
- Okay? I'm not seeing what the issue here is, though, if there is one. Flage is a Kid Icarus enemy who appears as a Smash Run enemy as well, so he gets both categories. Same with Waddle Dee, Cryogonal, and several others. 15:37, 22 July 2017 (EDT)

yawn...
Hey, I'm here! What did I miss? I saw some vandals trying to attack the wiki, but they were gunned down, probably while I was sleeping. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:37, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
Also, talking about Wariopig, that's the first time I've seen a former vandal turn into a major editor and contributor. He really redeemed himself for the stupid mistakes he made. You would be proud, wouldn't you? I think you would. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:43, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
What does that mean? Also, I have to get to work, so if there's any pages that need help, I would like it if you told me what they were. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:54, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
- Nothing comes to mind at the moment. Just fix whatever you find needs fixing, really. 16:59, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
SMK edit
Wait, she's just Princess in Super Mario Kart? Not even Princess Toadstool or something? Oh, I didn't know that. My bad. You see, I grew up with the Nintendo DS and a little Nintendo GameCube and very little Nintendo 64, if at all, so I was kind of new to the SNES when I first started learning more about Mario.
P.S. I was born the day the Oakland Athletics won their 20th straight game on Scott Hatteberg's walk-off home run. Yep. September 4, 2002 was that fateful day. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:24, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
- Yep, there wasn't enough room to display her full name, so she was called simply "Princess". But hey, that's what the wiki is here for, to help you learn more about stuff ;) 17:26, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
GOT HIM!
WOW! You got him FAST there, my man! That was really good! He couldn't even blink. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:10, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
I'm confused about the "spamming pages repeatedly," I looked at his contribs and he spammed one page once. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:18, 22 July 2017
- There's a drop down box of reasons we can select from, one of which is "spamming pages repeatedly". We can provide a separate reason of our own, but it's just quicker to select from the box. 22:20, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
Got him again! You're really good at this. How many vandals have you blocked? Admin staff was dead right to promote you to patroller. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:41, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
- Here you go. 17:43, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
What does that mean? Anyway, you're an artillery barrier for vandals. I have to get to work, so just do your thing. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 18:02, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
Super Mario enemy project
So L151 finally removed the list of Super Mario enemies page? That's a pity. The Super Mario series is the core of the Mario franchise; in fact, some people think that the Super Mario series is ACTUALLY the Mario franchise ITSELF! So why doesn't it deserve its own page? I felt like every enemy contributed something unique and new to the series. I get the reasoning and all, but it's still a pity he removed that article. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:29, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
- First of all, L151 (talk)'s a girl :P Deleting the page was an admin decision; it didn't deserve its own article, and its creation happened without a go-ahead. That being said, the list is too large to have every enemy in it, and it would seriously cut into loading times, even with its own article (I had trouble loading the list myself). 17:34, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
He's a GIRL? ... ... ... Oh, my bad. I'm sorry about that. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:35, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
Hey Alex, before that's trimmed on the main page, can I copypaste it into my own personal area on the Wiki, like how I see others having projects on theirs? Or would that go against policy? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:08, 23 July 2017 (CT)
- Yes, you can move onto a page of your own, so long as you intend on working on it further. If you're just planning on on keeping it for a record, it may be deleted (though there have been a few occasions where record pages haven't been). 18:10, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
- So, how do I do that? I can't find a tutorial on making personal pages...Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:16, 23 July 2017 (CT)
- User:Doc von Schmeltwick/Projects - Something like that, name it what you want as long as it has "User:Doc von Schmeltwick/" at the start. 18:21, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
- I moved the complete list into a personal project document and have been working on it. As for the one on the Super Mario (series) page, I've drastically shortened it, thought I've changed some of the info and images. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:18, 26 July 2017 (CT)

Removing Comments?
What are you talking about? I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything of the sort. If I did, it was entirely by accident. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:01, 23 July 2017 (CT)
- I know. You over wrote Baby Luigi (talk)'s comment. You may have been looking at her first comment on your page and responded from there, thus overwriting her new message. 18:07, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
Regarding "Europe and Oceania"
Hi, I noticed a lot of recent edits (especially on Mario Kart pages) noted the name changes in "Europe and Oceania". I was wondering, are we still using "PAL regions" on this Wiki? Usually, we would write "PAL regions" to denote Europe and Oceania, so I was just asking if we're still using that term or not. Thanks. MarioComix (talk) 23:19, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
Dark Land
Seeing how you are redoing Dark Land (and maybe the rest in Mushroom World), do you see any benefit for File:Hand Trap SMAS.gif to be animated? If not, I can redo the screenshot to be a static PNG. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:20, 24 July 2017 (EDT)
- I don't see any reason for it to be animated other than for visual appeal. If you want to retake it, go ahead. Maybe take a pic of each of the three Hand Trap levels? 19:24, 24 July 2017 (EDT)
Mario Baseball's Weird Chemistry
Why are so many of the chemistry connections in Mario Baseball so weird? For example, Tiny Kong shares bad chemistry with Birdo, Birdo shares bad chemistry with Blooper, Hammer Bro shares bad chemistry with Daisy and Noki of all characters, Dixie Kong shares bad chemistry with Dry Bones, and so on and so forth. Can you explain that to me? That is just wrong, dumb, and just plain weird.
- Hammer Bros. =/= Daisy and Dixie =/= Dry Bones is somewhat explainable: Good and bad don't mix. But I don't know, why can't in Lethe and Mordecai support each other in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance? It really comes down to whatever the devs were thinking at that point. 23:38, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
Dream Team needs more love!
What do you think of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team? The Mario & Luigi fanbase is mostly positive and excited toward the game, athough they generally agree that Bowser's Inside Story is the best of the series. What do you think of the game? I LOVE it. Although Bowser's Inside Story is the best, Dream Team would rank an extremely close second. Just wanted to ask a question, so don't get mad at me. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:59, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

"Mario is for KIDS!" = you need to learn video games.
As a kid, or even now these days, do you ever get teased by people who say things like "Mario is for kids, you baby, go play Halo or COD!"? Because some times, that happens to me, and it's why I feel embarrassed when people ask me about things like that. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:55, 27 July 2017 (EDT)
- I used to. Not so much anymore. People I hang out with don't really like violent games, or video games as a whole :P If you know what you like, and you continue doing what you like, there's no reason to feel embarrassed. I don't like violent games much myself, though I do mess around in Halo for fun sometimes. Was going Mongoose racing against my brother yesterday, actually :D 20:00, 27 July 2017 (EDT)

RE: Screenshots
Capture cards aren't exactly the greatest quality, because analog-to-digital conversion. What is meant by native resolution is the rendering before each frame gets sent to the component responsible for analog conversion to RCA. So what you captured was digital-to-analog-to-digital, sacrificing a lot of quality in the process. This is why I recommend emulators, which just worries about the initial digital rendering only. I'll have to tag your upload with {{image-quality}}. As for resolutions, I always had it available here very early on in editing that page. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:25, 29 July 2017 (EDT)
- Nothing wrong with supplying such an image if that is all that you can do. Just be sure to tag with {{image-quality}}. I could try a replacement, but have to play the game collecting many stars, which will take a while. I have saves that have 120 stars, but nothing where partial completion has been done.
- There's a lot of misconceptions with emulators, thanks to Nintendo primarily spreading misinformation to scare people into complying with their rules. Emulators are legal, because reverse engineering is covered under fair use law. ROMs vary in legality depending on how you obtain them. If you have the physical media and dump the ROM data yourself, it is considered a backup, which is protected under copyright law. A website distributing the ROMs, yes, illegal. Most people will take the illegal route because Virtual Console is considered a poor and meager alternative that has had its fair share of criticisms. Here's a video about a GDC talk on emulation: [1].
- Emulator accuracy is a concern getting a good screenshot, so I recommend Emulation General to look into various emulators for game consoles. My WIP guide I just linked you to gives you my recommendations for emulators to use (only the SNES section advises not using a particular emulator, which is ZSNES). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:40, 29 July 2017 (EDT)
- Think of emulation and ROMs this way: Playing on real hardware is becoming rather a challenge for me these days, not because I need a TV capable of coaxial or RCA, but because the older the consoles get, the more finicky they become to get working correctly. NES is a notorious example, but I experience contact failure on my SNES and N64 as well. My GCN and Wii could have disk read failures eventually because the mechanical and optical mechanisms will fail at some point. It already has on my Wii and I had to perform a fix years ago. The Wii also uses internal flash memory, which doesn't last as long as traditional hard disk drive storage. Optical disks are more susceptible to degradation. Also, light guns, like the NES Zapper and Super Scope, don't work on flat screen TVs but rather old CRT TVs, which emulation finds an alternate way to make those games work on modern TVs (or computers in a majority of cases). Emulation just says goodbye to all that headache. Virtual Console and things like the NES and SNES Classic aren't as good as the "illegal" way. The "illegal" way tries to preserve gaming's past as much as possible. Super Mario 64 on Virtual Console, I noticed some visual ugliness that doesn't seem to exist in "illegal" emulation. [2] Nintendo's official emulation has a meager assortment. Also, playing games from other countries is much harder on VC than the "illegal" route. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:54, 29 July 2017 (EDT)
- For the capture card, you will reach a limit to what you can do to make the screenshot look as good as possible, and that won't come close to doing it in like Project64 with the angrylion graphics plugin. I had a capture card years ago. You can see my userpage for a Paper Mario video captured on real hardware. Visual noise caused by the RCA standard will happen to every game you attempt a screenshot. For what it's worth, at least you are trying to get a visual for the articles missing images. As for resolution specific to Super Mario 64, I noticed that an unaltered screenshot in an emulator outputs 320x237, with slight letterboxing, reducing the resolution to 320x224, to comply with policy. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:27, 29 July 2017 (EDT)

Oh, remember how I said something about dumping ROM data and that is legal despite Nintendo saying otherwise? To dump GCN and Wii games, it's super easy compared to dumping a cartridge because it uses the Wii itself and not a third party device. If you can homebrew, use CleanRip. You may need a USB HDD for the bigger disks (see SD Cards for compatible SD cards). CleanRip should be compatible with SD, SDHC, and USB HDD in NTFS. Here's the disk sizes:
- GCN - 1.35 GB (1,459,978,240 bytes)
- Wii - 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes)
- Wii Dual-Layer (SSBB) - 7.92 GB (8,511,160,320 bytes)
Then you can use these rips in Dolphin by emulating the guaranteed legal way. Just make sure your computer can handle GCN/Wii emulation. I have PC specs of my ASUS F75VD on my profile. If your specs are similar, you should be fine. This was brought on by your SMG upload. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:47, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- That's very odd. What exactly happens when you try starting up an emulator? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:58, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- I've never experienced issues like that because I got the emulator to work out of the box so I don't know what to say. All I can recommend is Emulation Subreddit to troubleshoot general problems getting an emulator to work. The first thing to try is give the emulator administrative privileges, but that is all I can recommend at this time. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:20, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- My hope is to get you with the ability to emulate without issue so we can skip ever needing to use {{image-quality}} with your current image upload abilities. Category:Quality requested is quite congested as it is. Based on my experience with other editors, emulator users seem to be in short supply. A gossip-loving Toad (talk), Time Turner (talk), Hiccup (talk), Baby Luigi (talk), and Bazooka Mario (talk) are the only users I know right off the top of my head that can emulate successfully, but some have left Super Mario Wiki. Troubleshooting could be a great inclusion for my WIP guide. Maybe your case is quite common and I just don't know it. Even if I or others exhausted every possibility with you and you are still struggling, at least I say I tried to help you out. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:22, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- A different capture card isn't going to make the RCA noise any better. The only non-emulator way to get better than the capture card is if you hardmod, and I don't recommend that method if you don't feel comfortable with soldering, because you could potentially ruin the console's circuit boards. I wish you the best in your quest to get emulation working for you. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:29, 31 July 2017 (EDT)

Important
this is Piggypassking I'm sorry but please go to my talk page! I have a Important message
Costumes
I wouldn't personally count that, since it's just Mario wearing a costume of E. Gadd. Plus, then we suddenly have a bunch of "playable characters" that don't have articles. I'm concerned about the precedence it might set. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 23:22, 29 July 2017 (EDT)
- If that's the case, then I'm fine with leaving that category off of the article. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 23:26, 29 July 2017 (EDT)
Yoob's Inside Story
Do you think it would be a good idea to create a page called "Yoob's Inside Story" and redirect it to Yoob? I'm on board with it. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:53, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
Oh, OK. I just thought it would be a fun idea, since Yoob's Inside Story is talked about by everyone who knows Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:05, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
No objection from me. In fact, it was just meant for fun, but yeah, I know. So the wiki is 100 percent objective knowledge/facts, is that correct? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:08, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
Also, speaking of objective facts, what about Wario being the American stereotype? That's also speculation, right? In the rare case it's not, then we could put it in the Wario article. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:13, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
Oh, right. It's pretty much just some stupid GameTheory crap. Never mind what I just said before. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:16, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
Meowth
No, Meowth does not have a nose or gem, it has a face that looks virtually identical to the Spritelings, as well as similar stature. You're thinking of Persian. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:01, 30 July 2017 (CT)
- No, it doesn't have a gem, it has a coin, which the hood would cover anyways. Look at the cream color, the head shape and proportion to body, and weird whiskers that look like extensions of the cheeks. It should probably be noted as a point of interest. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:06, 30 July 2017 (CT)
Doh, I missed!
AWWW! What about "D'oh, I missed?"! Come on! That quote was perfect! Ugh...I guess we do have to use English, but don't you think "D'oh, I missed" would be perfect for that section? I'm pretty sure you have fond memories of it. Dang it. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:41, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
- I don't have many "fond" memories of the phrase, actually, as I didn't grow up with the original Mario Parties. "D'oh, I missed!" is actually a cognate (I believe is what that's called), it's not the actual phrase, it's just what it sounds like. 22:47, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
OK, you have a point. But the fact is, isn't "So ein mist" the iconic phrase to use? Doesn't iconicity take priority over English? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:49, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
- Not really. Usually to change a quote, a discussion takes place on the talk page. If the community agrees the change is for the better, then the quote is changed. 22:51, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
Ugh. It just feels wrong sometimes to not see "D'oh, I missed" as the quote in the Mario Party section. You feel me? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:53, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
Oh, well. That's a pity, I guess. I'm supposing it's not worth making a proposal on this? And plus, how old are you? You look like you're in your 20s, which would mean you grew up with the Nintendo 64. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:57, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
- Nah, not something a proposal is made for. Just a general discussion.
- I'm 22. I did grow up with the Nintendo 64, but I never got a chance to play any of the Mario Parties back then. Even now, I don't own any before MP5 (though that's mainly due to the availability of the games). 23:00, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
Oh, that's nice. I'm 14, and I grew up with the Nintendo DS and the Wii. I consider games like New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Paper Mario, and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team to be classics. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:02, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
Also, I wish people would appreciate and love Super Paper Mario a lot more. That game already has a huge fanbase, but I think it's really underrated. It's better than Thousand-Year Door in so many ways. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:42, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
- I like both games, but in their own way. The Thousand-Year Door is pretty much perfection on the formula of the original Paper Mario, and Super Paper Mario is a unique and fun experience for the series. I just wish it didn't snowball from there, imo. 00:21, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
Superstar Saga 3DS remake
You excited about Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions? I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT! I'm SO EXCITED! We're FINALLY getting a CLASSIC MARIO RPG! Lcrossmk8 (talk) 15:18, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- I don't know what you mean by "finally", but yes, I am excited. And The Quest for Bowser looks very interesting, too. 15:33, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
Bowser and Baby Bowser
Do you think Kamek would make a good parent? Also, do you think the ending with Bowser and Bowser Jr is just so awesome in Super Mario Sunshine? Lcrossmk8 (talk)
- I don't think Kamek would make a good parent at all. Though it might be fun to play with the wand sometimes :P 16:54, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
And what about Bowser and Bowser Jr in Super Mario Sunshine? I thought that was actually surprising heartwarming. Although the Super Mario series has the same plot of "Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and the Mario Bros have to rescue her", it's actually kind of good at telling stories and giving some emotional moments. The series constantly pays attention to detail, with Bowser's different plots and plans to kidnap Peach and conquer the Mushroom Kingdom once and for all always unique, creative, and most of all, hilarious. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:01, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- Oh, accidentally skipped your second question. Sorry, working on a few things right now :P
- The ending to Sunshine was pretty good. It's a good wrap up to Bowser Jr.'s introduction to the Mario series, and starts his rivalry with Mario, similar to how Bowser's started. 17:04, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
Princess Shroob DEBUNKED
I had a discussion with Doc on his talkpage, and he thinks that Princess Peach yelled for help, and in the nick of time, Princess Shroob pulled a switch and disguised herself as Peach. Do you think that Princess Shroob was behind the locked door the whole time, and thus, she must have spoken English? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:53, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- It's possible the switch occurred off screen, because that's when you hear Peach scream. It's also possible Princess Shroob is mimicking the sounds Peach makes, which is something people do when they are learning a different language. Completely speculation though. 17:57, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- I don't think Shroob's larynx would allow for that. Her voice is so completely different, all guttural and almost electronic. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:59, 31 July 2017

Old names
Regarding this edit to the SMB article, do you know if there's anything within policy that actually dictates that the old name should be used in favor of the new one? I'm making a proposal that touches on the subject, so it would help if there was something to go on. I know that it's the standard to use the old name, I'm just wondering if it's an official standard. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:21, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- It then goes on to say that, "Exceptions include naming errors, translation errors, and use of aliases/nicknames." It doesn't seem to say anything about old vs. new names. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:13, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- In the meantime, perhaps I'll roll ahead with my proposal. Here is what I wrote before I thought to thoroughly research it, and when I said that it "touches on" the subject, I more specifically meant that it's about deciding whether we should or shouldn't use old names in articles. If you have the chance, take a look. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:41, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- Thank you very much! I'll be sure to mention it in the proposal. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 00:08, 1 August 2017 (EDT)

Ray and Mantas
Then why is he allowed in the "notable members" section of the infobox? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:50, 1 August 2017 (CT)
- Phantamanta's there as well, but it doesn't have a segment. ...Eh, article could probably use an expansion, tbh, but the way the anon worded their edit was weird. 22:52, 1 August 2017 (EDT)
RE: Italics
Kodansha is the company that published the manga, hence the identifier for the article (Super Mario (Kodansha manga)), so unless it's part of the publication title like Nintendo Power, it shouldn't be italicised. Mario JC 01:09, 2 August 2017 (EDT)

Wikipedia
You've said on your talk page that you're working on your own game series and that it also has its own "wikipedia". I just thought that I should clarify something: what you have is actually a wiki. "Wikipedia" refers specifically to the collection of wikis, one for each language, that cover a vast variety of topics. Unless the site's a part of that group, it's not a "Wikipedia". Considering that the name "Wikipedia" is owned by the Wikimedia Foundation, I wanted to mention this to you before you start talking about your "wikipedia" on more official pages. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 13:05, 7 August 2017 (EDT)
