The hand thing
??? and "Hand" are explicitly the same character. Note the source they use to give "Hand" its name.
"Many characters from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask appear in Labrynna, and the hand in the toilet is one of them."
Note that this is in lowercase and explicitly identified as the same character. So by Zeldawiki's standards, they must be different, particularly as they cite Hyrule Encyclopedia (which has the exact same situation SMBE had for us, they just refuse to acknowledge that). As for "Phoeni," that's a PRIMA name for a character that in the game itself was called ???. They were split three days ago by an admin. Anyways, I'm just going to consider this the ultimate proof that Zeldawiki is broken beyond repair. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:21, March 25, 2019 (EDT)
I messed up again :/
Hi Alex, sorry to bother you. I've been trying to upload some pictures from the DK Wiki on to the site and I keep on messing up. I want to thank you for fixing my Tomato pic. As you can probably tell I have no idea what I'm doing. I thought I had it figured out, but then I made the same mistake with these two files:
https://www.mariowiki.com/File:Ghost_Book.png
https://www.mariowiki.com/File:Klam.png
So I was wondering if you could fix them for me and let me know what I'm doing wrong so I don't have to keep on asking you for help.
Thank you, EDShoot (talk) March 26, 2019
Wiki rules
The rules of this wiki say that if a normal user adds his or her point (whether it be for advice or not) on another user's talk page on which an admin gave a warning or block, it just makes the admins' jobs harder. Why would that be the case if the commenting user wants to give the warned or blocked user advice or a past experience? Dwhitney (talk) 13:49, March 27, 2019 (EDT)
Re:Yoshi Colors
The proposal was initially just about Green Yoshi for now, but I was encouraged to switch gears to more/all colors ahead of time. That might have been how you overlooked it, although it definitely wasn't my intention, and it did get 12-1-2 in favor of merging after all. I did just take into account the platform games when I made the proposal (though I'd consider Super Mario Sunshine one special Yoshi with unique color-changing abilities and Super Mario Galaxy 2 just the main green Yoshi under the temporary affects of power-up fruit), but Baby Luigi did bring up the stat differences in the spinoffs. The individual colors and their occasional differences will be mentioned in the species article when the merge is complete. I was also thinking about adding a table of appearances for the Yoshi colors in the species article, so that information is now in one easily accessible spot. Deletion
Okay, I uploaded a better image, and this time I want to mark the old image for deletion correctly. To get rid of the links the old image marks, should I change its filename to the new filename on all its pages? And on the old image's file page, should the new image's filename be after "{{delete|[[:File:Image.png|replaced"? Dwhitney (talk) 22:17, March 28, 2019 (EDT)
Colored Yoshi articles
I'm going to miss those colored Yoshi articles, but considering that the other colored Yoshis aren't as famous as the one Yoshi we all know and love, I think it's better to have their information on the Yoshi (species) article. Maybe the thumbnail that was on each colored Yoshi article could be added to the "Gallery" section on the Yoshi (species) article or to its article's gallery page? Dwhitney (talk) 13:12, March 29, 2019 (EDT)
- Probably. LinkTheLefty (talk) is the one working on it. 13:27, March 29, 2019 (EDT)
Beta Kretin
Image-quality won't change that TSR doesn't have a rip for it and that appears to be a jpg-to-png conversion. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:57, March 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Point of the image-quality template is to notify that the image needs improved. TSR may not have the sprite now, but they could later. The image does have a use despite its quality, and it is clear what this image is supposed to be, so it doesn't need to be deleted. 15:15, March 30, 2019 (EDT)
- It's misleading and against policy.....also TSR has none in queue and haven't added anything to that section for months. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:18, March 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Looks more like a poor YouTube capture than a jpg to png conversion to me. How is it misleading? 15:24, March 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Because it's not a true sprite rip. sprite rips are at least mostly pixel-accurate. This isn't even size-accurate, much less a good crop. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:43, March 30, 2019 (EDT)
- It's misleading and against policy.....also TSR has none in queue and haven't added anything to that section for months. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:18, March 30, 2019 (EDT)
Lost some history
This has been bothering me, what exactly did you mean here? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:18, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- The link Mari0fan100 posted went to a fake warning, but the talk page owner, B.wilson, started removing their talk page content for several revisions and no one put any of it back. That's what I meant, I meant the user talk page's history is "lost", as in it'd be difficult (not to mention, pointless) to restore it all back.
- Sorry, I meant to clarify but I forgot to go back to that >_< 00:23, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- OK, that makes sense. That sort of confusion is why when I'm responding to a point several indentations ago, I match my indentations up as though the ones between them aren't there. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:29, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Friends?
If I were to be your friend (as I think we're on friendly terms now), what would that mean? Dwhitney (talk) 01:01, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- Yeah, we're pretty friendly :) It means you can put my friend userbox to your userpage, and I could add yours to my page. No perks or anything, just a fun thing that shows we get along well :P 01:05, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
To put your friend userbox on my userpage, must I add info about me on my userpage? Dwhitney (talk) 22:34, April 9, 2019 (EDT)
- You can just add the userbox if you want to. Whatever you put on your userpage is up to you. 22:37, April 9, 2019 (EDT)
It's done. Dwhitney (talk) 22:55, April 9, 2019 (EDT)
Are you going to add my friend userbox to your userpage? (Oh, wait ... do I even have a friend userbox?) Dwhitney (talk) 13:59, April 14, 2019 (EDT)
How do I make a userbox? Dwhitney (talk) 16:50, April 14, 2019 (EDT)
- You can copy the coding of any available userboxes (mine, for example) and adjust the coding as you see fit, using preview to check and keep adjusting until you end up with something you like. You can find more userboxes and how to use them at MarioWiki:Userboxes. 16:54, April 14, 2019 (EDT)
I made my userbox, but something about my user page doesn't look right. Dwhitney (talk) 20:55, April 26, 2019 (EDT)
- Follow the directions at MarioWiki:Userboxes. 20:57, April 26, 2019 (EDT)
I think I did it. Dwhitney (talk) 21:52, April 26, 2019 (EDT)
Filenames
Why do you admins prefer that image filenames have lowercase extensions? Dwhitney (talk) 01:17, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- Consistency, mainly. Makes things easier to remember. Unlike mainspace capitalization autoredirects, typing "jpg" will not work for an image that has "JPG" in the filename. 01:23, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Mario riddle 2
Here's another Mario riddle I made up. Bowser challenges Mario to play Game & Watch Gallery 4--collecting all 220 stars--in one day. Mario accepts the challenge, with Bowser believing it won't be done. Mario goes home and starts playing the game from the beginning. After a few failed attempts, he earns five stars in every minigame mode, except for Game B in the Classic and Modern versions of Donkey Kong 3 and Boxing, since he doesn't have anyone with whom to play the two-player modes. As a result, he collects 200 stars. He even plays the Museum games just for fun. The next day, Mario returns to Bowser to show him the result. Bowser is shocked to see that Mario collected all 220 stars, meaning Mario won the challenge. However, Mario didn't have an extra copy of Game & Watch Gallery 4, and he didn't ask anyone to play the two-player modes with him that day. How did Mario win Bowser's challenge? Dwhitney (talk) 14:35, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
No, you can't. Dwhitney (talk) 17:13, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- Then I don't know. Don't have the game, so I don't know how we would do this. 17:18, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Answer: Mario showed Bowser a save file of when he previously completed the game. Dwhitney (talk) 17:26, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- Doesn't the game only have one save file? Or would that mean Mario has an extra copy, which he could've used to get the remaining stars? Looking at a video doesn't show me any kind of file selection. 17:31, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
In the description section of World of Longplays' YouTube videos of Game & Watch Gallery 4, the player says that he couldn't receive the last 20 stars since he didn't have another player, but he found a save with the cast credits. That's how I got the idea for this riddle, but maybe I misunderstood it? Dwhitney (talk) 17:50, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Poem
This is a poem I wrote. I call it "Twenty-one Errors in an Essay." Please tell me what you think. Can you identify the 21st error?
What is so wrong about my essay, My non-understanding teacher?
For me to begin, you wrote in pen; You didn't intent each paragraph within. You didn't write neat and wrote the number two, And as for homonyms, you wrote the wrong blue. There are no periods, colons, or commas; And as for spelling, you misspelled drama. Your name isn't here and nor is the date; You finished this paper and turned it in late. You've too many and{'}s and too many then{'}s; You used the same adverbs over again. You used contractions, and I told you so, To use them in essays, the answer is no. Proper nouns need to be capitalized; Plagiarizing's bad, in case you haven't realized. You didn't quote dialogue, as you can see; And in this sentence, you're supposed to use we.
Sorry about my essay, Miss ... I had a day to finish this. Dwhitney (talk) 18:10, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Sorry the poem isn't formatted the way it's supposed to be. Dwhitney (talk) 18:12, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- Don't worry about the formatting, pay it no mind.
I read it all, the error was easy to find.
I didn't even have to finish to find the mistake.
Though I may have had to do a double-take.
The error is obvious, even more so if read live.
You simply misspelled "indent" on line five. 18:26, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Gosh darn autocorrect! That wasn't the error I had in mind. The last error is hinted in the last two lines of the poem. What is it? Dwhitney (talk) 18:40, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- Well, darn, I put effort into that XD I figured it had something to do with the end of the poem, but I wasn't sure. I've turned in single-day long assignments late before, so that doesn't seem like a mistake to me. Well, a different kind of mistake, if that's what it is. 18:45, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Start with the line "Sorry about my essay, Miss ..." and read the line after that. This error might be the biggest one to make in an essay (it's likely something a lot of people do when they don't want to do something they need to do at the moment). What is it? Dwhitney (talk) 18:52, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
No, not that. Here's a clue: This error that the student made in writing his essay led to him making all the other errors. It can be summarized in only one common word. Dwhitney (talk) 19:01, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
- Procrastination is the other word coming to mind, but if that's it, I have no time frame here. Turned it in late, yes, but how long did they have to work on the essay? 19:08, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
You got it! The time frame doesn't matter. The student had time to write a better essay, but because he procrastinated, he ended up rushing through it after realizing it was overdue; as a result, his teacher gave it a failing grade. I've had some experiences of that (though probably not with that many errors). When we procrasinate, what we need to get done either doesn't get done at all or doesn't get done as planned. Procrastination seems like a little thing, but it can make a big difference, usually negatively. Dwhitney (talk) 19:22, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Your poem was nice, anyway. Dwhitney (talk) 20:01, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Here's another poem I wrote. I was inspired to write it after seeing the Mario Party 9 minigame Don't Look. This poem is called "Don't Look!" What do you think of it?
The arrows are pointing up, left, and right.
Now's your chance to look around.
Hey! You weren't supposed to look up.
You were supposed to look down! Dwhitney (talk) 19:49, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
You mean Look Away.- Pretty good, but please try not to make excessive new sections on my talk page. Just the one header is enough, and I keep getting notifications... 20:03, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Sorry about that. Dwhitney (talk) 20:08, March 31, 2019 (EDT)

Remember when you said you wanted to see a source for the Wario Land II info? You're in luck! The YouTube video "Wario Land II - Game Manual (GB) (Instruction Booklet)" uploaded by Game Instruction Manual Retro is the source I found. However, it appears not to say anything about the white birds. Maybe they weren't named back then?
By the way, nice image on your user page. Dwhitney (talk) 01:02, April 1, 2019 (EDT)
- Sounds vaguely familiar. Where did I say that? ^^; If they aren't given a name anywhere in the manual or game, perhaps a guide somewhere? Regardless, how it is now works, maybe we can slap {{part conjecture}} on it...

Mario Kart 64
I recently had a chance to play Mario Kart 64 with my siblings, and boy, did it bring back memories! I forgot that in VS, the sound effects of the first player, including the kart, item boxes, and water and lava fall-ins, are omitted (at least, in two-player mode)--bummer.
The "Enemies" section table on the Mario Kart 64 article has "Bat" red-linked, but I'm not sure an article about it should be created, likely because there's not much info about it. Also, the "Non-playable" table section requests that additional images be uploaded, but an image is in each row in the first column. What are your thoughts about these? Dwhitney (talk) 23:17, April 1, 2019 (EDT)
- For older TVs with only one audio port, it actually depends which audio color plug you put in. I think it's red for top and white for bottom. If both can be inserted, should work fine. We did four-player Mario Kart 64 the other day, and sound played just fine.
- The Bat enemy is really just a generic bat, it doesn't do much until that run into you. It's role was replaced by Swoops in later games, so maybe it should link to there? The image template has been moved down a section. 00:23, April 2, 2019 (EDT)
According to the in-game quotes on the Banshee Boardwalk article, the bats are simply called "bats," so maybe "Bat" on the Mario Kart 64 article shouldn't link to Swoop. Dwhitney (talk) 22:59, April 6, 2019 (EDT)
- True, but "bat" is used generically, and isn't significant enough to warrant its own article. Removing the link altogether is also an option. 23:04, April 6, 2019 (EDT)
I might just do that. Dwhitney (talk) 23:06, April 6, 2019 (EDT)
Should the balloons in Mario Kart 64 have their own article? Originally, "balloon" on the article was linked to a disambiguation page on which the Mario Kart 64 balloons aren't linked, so I linked "balloon" on the Mario Kart 64 page to the Balloon Battle section on the Battle Mode page. About the OGA file on Mario Party Pandemonium.
Mikoro filled up a "reupload" claim on the file because the beginning was cut off, but is this REALLY necessary? I've seen a lot of OGA files that had the beginning cut off, which made me think that is how it was supposed to be like. --Tent2 (talk) 17:11, April 3, 2019 (EDT)

Protected pages
I noticed that the Game & Watch and Secret Aquarium articles were protected indefinitely because people kept adding to them things that weren't intended to be said in them ("Game Watch" for "Game & Watch" and "Drown House" for "The Secret Aquarium"). Just for the heck of it, I looked up "super mario 64 ds drown house" on both Google and YouTube to see what I could find. The first results on neither website were "the Secret Aquarium," so I wonder where people got that phrase. Any ideas? Dwhitney (talk) 15:44, April 4, 2019 (EDT)

The main problem with the last PDKJR proposal was that pretty much all of the votes were joke votes. Even ones from the admins. So, if a proposal was made, would it be treated seriously with any joke votes being removed by the admins? Doomhiker (talk) 21:07, April 5, 2019 (EDT)

Invalid vote
GrainedCargo192's vote here is invalid, as his vote is stating that splitting Gummits would create stubs, despite stub pages only referring to pages that lack information, not necessarily small pages. It is not the first time were he mislabeled stubs, and he has been told before that stubs are not always small articles and vice versa. While TDA has told him that it happened a day ago and his vote has not been changed, so it may be time for it to be removed. Doomhiker (talk) 12:40, April 6, 2019 (EDT)
- The vote isn't invalid, but it's not correct, either. He has yet to edit the wiki after his votes on the fourth, and he still has time to remove it if he wants to. If he doesn't and the proposal passes anyway, it wouldn't matter. 12:44, April 6, 2019 (EDT)
- The thing that matters thought is that fact that it would most likely stall the change for two weeks: FanOfYoshi would be able to cancel the proposal and put it in to effect due to having a consensus and being consistent with the rest of the wiki if it was not for his vote which is based off a misconception that he had for a while. Doomhiker (talk) 12:50, April 6, 2019 (EDT)
- He's been told about how stubs work now, he wasn't then. He can chose to ignore it, in which case, he would just keep getting reminded, but he now has something to tell him that short articles don't mean stubs. Because of TDA's message, no further action needs to be taken at the moment.
- I'm honestly on the fence about this proposal, seems more like a Green/Red Koopa Troopa thing to me. I think canceling should be held off. 12:57, April 6, 2019 (EDT)

Unblocking request
I noticed on one of your archived talk pages, a previously blocked user asked you to unblock him/her, saying that he/she knew the rules now and promised to obey them. You replied that you were going to discuss it with the other admins. However, because that user created another account while blocked, your answer was "no." If that user hadn't done that, would you have unblocked him/her? Dwhitney (talk) 13:18, April 7, 2019 (EDT)

I think that's a rash assumption, given what they did was get rid of a plural that shouldn't have been there (note it says there's only one). It could have been any random person who noticed that mistake. Is the IP in a similar range, at least? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:59, April 8, 2019 (EDT)

The proposal also said that if the content of the "notes" section wasn't specifically mentioned in the article otherwise, it should not be removed, but moved to somewhere within the article. Otherwise, we're losing information. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:29, April 9, 2019 (EDT)

From MarioWiki:Courtesy:
Swearing at other people is flaming and is unacceptable. The occasional use of profanity is allowed as long as it is not directed at another user, but it should generally be avoided. Similarly, if a user specifically requests that no profanity is used on their talk page, their wishes should be respected. You are free to use profanity in moderation in your own userspace, but if it is decided that you have overstepped the boundaries of good taste, you may be asked to tone it down.
Profanity is not allowed when directed at someone or if there is an excessive amount of it. Not really something to give a warning for either way, unless it turns into outright flaming. If anything, it'd be a userspace warning. 14:24, April 13, 2019 (EDT)

Italics
Do you have any idea why the "References" section on the Yoshi (species) article is all italicized? I doubt it should be like that, and I'm having trouble undoing the italics. Dwhitney (talk) 19:55, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
- Super Smash Bros. Melee image in the gallery was missing an italics mark (which were redundant with the HTML italics anyway), and the coding was in the wrong order. It's been fixed. 19:58, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
RE:Personal images
The first one you can delete. The second one is used on this Mario Boards thread. I don't appear to have an attachment button when I post something on the forum so I resorted to uploading said image on the wiki and then linking to it. Wiggler and Flutter
Merge Wiggler with Flutter? I don't think that should happen, considering they're different characters. Even though a Wiggler turns into a Flutter, I think it's better for them to have separate articles. For example, a caterpillar turns into a butterfly, but it wouldn't look good to discuss the lives of both animals on the same article, would it? (Mentioning that a caterpillar changes into something else is fine, however.) Not to mention, Flutters don't appear in every Mario game that Wigglers do. What's your opinion? Dwhitney (talk) 23:26, April 17, 2019 (EDT)
- I'm already opposing the merge, but the conversation doesn't appear to be going anywhere... 23:27, April 17, 2019 (EDT)

Super Mario 64 DS
The mission Big Penguin Race on the Super Mario 64 DS article says that the player shouldn't take any shortcuts, or the Penguin will disqualify them. Technically, that's not true. There's one shortcut the player can take: The player can jump over the gap right before the hidden wall shortcut (if you know what I mean), and the Penguin won't consider that cheating, as I've done a few times. I'm not sure it works in the original game. Do you think this info is relevant to be added to one of these articles? Dwhitney (talk) 21:50, April 18, 2019 (EDT)
- I believe how the game knows the player takes a shortcut is because they are marked; if the player passes a certain trigger, the Big Penguin won't give the Star. Shortcuts that don't have these triggers, as in unintended shortcuts, would work I think. I drop off the ledge near the start and the race continues as normal, so it's really the tunnel that's a marked shortcut. I think that's something that can be added in a trivia. 00:53, April 19, 2019 (EDT)
- I seem to recall that taking the huge shortcut at the first corner (cutting out about like 50% of the slide) makes him made. That may have been removed in the DS version. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:38, April 19, 2019 (EDT)
The Health Meter in Super Mario 64 DS appears to be called the Power Meter. The Health Meter in this game and the original has "Power" above it, but can you confirm that the Health Meter is called the Power Meter in the original game? Dwhitney (talk) 12:14, April 20, 2019 (EDT)
Before I add the Power Meter name in the Super Mario 64 section on the Health Meter article, do you know if the Health Meter is called that in that game? (I would think it is.) Dwhitney (talk) 01:09, April 23, 2019 (EDT)

Uploading images
You said that if a user doesn't want to use the aboutfile template at all, he or she can simply remove it before uploading a file. When would you consider it acceptable to remove the aboutfile template? Dwhitney (talk) 22:30, April 19, 2019 (EDT)
- Using the aboutfile template is recommended, but not required. There really isn't a good reason to remove it from a file summary after the image is uploaded, that'd be pointless. 22:32, April 19, 2019 (EDT)
Is it okay to upload a videogame screenshot from another wiki? Dwhitney (talk) 23:31, August 7, 2019 (EDT)
- If it's relevant and proper credit is given, and it's an image you aren't able to capture yourself, sure. 11:01, August 8, 2019 (EDT)
I tried to upload a new version of the Game & Watch Gallery 4 title screen (one with the North American title), but its file page still shows the screenshot with the European title. So I tried to upload my image separately, but the upload log says it's a duplicate image of the previous one, even though both images have different game titles. Did I do something wrong? Super Mario Party images

But despite what some people may say, 3DS and Wii U Smash are not the same game (officially the 4th and 5th, respectively), and as such, should not have conflation like that, regardless of the amount of shared assets. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:03, April 24, 2019 (EDT)
- Yes, but we also cut back on the amount of Smash content we cover. The Pokemon page does not have any other 3DS screenshots, because the Wii U version shows them off just fine. We don't need multiple images of the same Pokemon here. 16:09, April 24, 2019 (EDT)
- It's still a different game with different models, and as such shouldn't take any less priority than having separate images for Snorlax in every other game. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:05, April 25, 2019 (EDT)
Vandalism
Boy, one user must've been pretty upset with you reverting his or her acts of vandalism (one of them being on the Health Meter page I'd edited), since that user created three similar accounts (one after the other), the third of which was used to blank your talk page content. I wonder if I'll have a chance to report an act of vandalism on this wiki, and if anyone else has blanked your talk page content out of upset-ness. Dwhitney (talk) 23:58, April 24, 2019 (EDT)
- There was an edit war on my talk page back in 2016, but that's the only instance coming to mind. It's pretty common for vandals to be upset at the admin blocking them, for some reason. 00:02, April 25, 2019 (EDT)

Need help 2
So I am trying to find some help to know if I should make SMB2 a disabuligation page but I can’t find any help on knowing what should be a disabuligation page. Please help. EDT: The reason is that we don’t know if the mean This or this! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits) 11:05, April 28, 2019 (EDT)
- First of all: "Disambiguation"
- Second: SMB2 doesn't need to be a disambiguation. Only two titles are called that, and one is called the Lost Levels in English.
- Three: A disambiguation is really only needed when there are too many things to fit in an {{about}} template, usually four or more. SMB2 already has an about on it's page linking to Lost Levels. 11:10, April 28, 2019 (EDT)

Mr. I image
Actually there is a problem. It was assembled from raw textures at their exact sizes without taking into account the fact that in-game, both are stretched by different amounts and then filtered. Ergo, it is inaccurate to their in-game appearance. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk)

Snake Blocks
For some reason, when I try to revert File:SMM2-SMB-SnakeBlock.png to its older version using the revert button next to the older version, the site does not allow the revert with it stating that "The current version of the file is already identical to the selected one.", which is not the case. May you please try? Doomhiker (talk) 18:25, May 5, 2019 (EDT)
- It is the case. Do a hard refresh with Ctrl + F5. 18:26, May 5, 2019 (EDT)
- I done the refresh although the file page only shows one revision (The older one) and stats that no pages link to the file. Doomhiker (talk) 18:30, May 5, 2019 (EDT)

- And now the file page correctly shows three revisions and where the file links to however it shows the third revision as the older revision instead of the unofficial recreation, uploaded with the same comment and by the same uploader before the refresh. I also exited my browser, coming back with the same effect. Doomhiker (talk) 18:36, May 5, 2019 (EDT)

Another edit revert concern again... (Princess Daisy article)
Just ran into the news that the edit that I was trying to "restore" got reverted (after someone attempted to take it out earlier because of reasoning of said details being "mentioned later in the [Princess Daisy] article"). IMHO, that part was still important to note in the Mario Party series section of the article in regards to when the current dress/overall of Daisy made its debut (although I do agree about the details of the design itself being reserved for later on in said article regarding what the designs looked like). Can you reconsider this, please? --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 17:35, May 7, 2019 (EDT)

Fan term redirects
I am sorry, but your comments here and here are trying to go against policy. While it is true that your argument about the conjectural part of the redirect policy is what most likely what the policy means, the current way that the policy is worded makes it so that Throw Block is a valid redirect that, unless the policy is changed or you have another reason for its deletion, should not be deleted. If the Throw Block redirect is deleted, then other unofficial fan name redirects such as SMO (An abbreviation that is not officially used to my knowledge) will also have to be deleted. Doomhiker (talk) 16:52, May 9, 2019 (EDT)
- I did not see you new edit on Pallukun's talk page when I wrote your comment, my mistake (However my arguments about why fan term redirects still stand). Doomhiker (talk) 16:55, May 9, 2019 (EDT)
- I went back on the deletion line on Palluken's talk, but I think the term "conjectural" on MarioWiki:Redirects is a little vague. Abbreviations like SMO are fine, since it still stands for the game's title. But I don't think creating fan terms as redirects should be allowed.
- Maybe I'll ask Porple to clarify later or a proposal or something. 16:56, May 9, 2019 (EDT)
- EDIT: Throw Block could actually be too general, as it can refer to any throwable block. 17:00, May 9, 2019 (EDT)
- Very good point. However if a fan-term redirect does not interfere with anything official or is too general, then I feel that there is no harm in having fan-term redirects as they do not affect the page itself, and a reader may only now a fan term for the subject, not its official name. Doomhiker (talk) 17:03, May 9, 2019 (EDT)

Throw Block
I have no official source, but I figured it didn't matter since the point of a redirect is to take people to the correct page. If some people know it as Throw Block - I've seen plenty of Youtubers and Redditors, plus it's the name given to it in the SMW hack program Lunar Magic - then lots of people are going to get lost looking for nonexistent page. The redirect is just to say "that's not what it's called, but I know what you mean". When I was looking for that article, I spent half an hour because I had never heard of 'Grab' Block. Beach Bowl Images
Emulator bug vs. correct behavior based on verifying the real console. The water effect correction may be related to the developers implementing "arbitrary mipmap detection" into 5.0-5745. Above 1x native broke the intended effect otherwise. This effect is distance-dependent. Water is clear close-up while water is opaque far away. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:59, May 10, 2019 (EDT)
- It's also part of the reason I was holding off mass-replacing Melty Molten Galaxy images. You can see the issue with Puzzle Plank Galaxy. I noticed this before taking pictures for Melty Monster Galaxy. The main reason was fatigue related to GCN/Wii screenshots. Dolphin just sucks at pictures in general. just my two cents, but i don't think this IP meant to do bad. he may have simply confused Bullies for another enemy and, being an ultra newbie, wasn't aware that his edit was reverted by someone else and thought it simply didn't register for some reason, and that's why he added it back. i remember making the same mistake at some point, but luckily i was already signed up so i wasn't blocked instantly. even so, it took me an embarassingly long time to discover that you can leave comments to your edits. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 16:32, May 21, 2019 (EDT)

Gayluigi1879
I do not see why the user should of been blocked due to their username. While it is true that the word gay can be used offensively, it can also be used in an unoffencive manner, which may of been the intent. Doomhiker (talk) 15:11, May 27, 2019 (EDT)
- It's not the first time. 16:03, May 27, 2019 (EDT)
- I don't necessarily agree with those blocks either (and not all of those users were blocked for having "gay" either. There's nothing offensive about the word "gay". Ray Trace(T|C) 16:14, May 27, 2019 (EDT)
- Looking a bit further, it seems Gay Waluigi was unblocked as the admins at the time decided "gay" wasn't unacceptable. Doesn't look like that's the case for the Gay Luigi variants, though. I agree "gay" isn't offensive in and of itself (one of its definitions is "happy", though that's not the usual one anymore), but I guess calling a character gay when they clearly aren't is a problem? Poor Luigi.
- I can ask the other admins, see what they have to say. 16:19, May 27, 2019 (EDT)
- I feel like in this case, it's better to wait and see what edits they make before blocking them. And...again this is the Mario series so people can have whatever canon of the characters they like. I personally think Luigi is bi myself, so yeah. Ray Trace(T|C) 16:23, May 27, 2019 (EDT)
- As the user has been unblocked shouldn't the other users that have been blocked exclusively due to their similar usernames also be unblocked? Doomhiker (talk) 15:49, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
- There's not really a point to that anymore, but we agreed on "gay" not being a blockable term unless obviously used in a derogatory manner. 15:52, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
- There is still a point to unblocking them. If you were one of those users and wanted to edit for some reason but saw that your old account was permanently blocked (If you remembered it which could be the case), then (even though they would not be blocked if they created a new account) they would think that they would never be able to edit on the site again, for something which is no longer a punishable act. Some users did not even receive the "create a new username message". It's quite unfair for them. Doomhiker (talk) 15:57, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
- "but we agreed on "gay" not being a blockable term unless obviously used in a derogatory manner." Turns out I misremembered, looking back. JC was the only one who said anything, who simply said to unblock and watch.
- The blocked accounts in question are around three years old, with the ones that aren't blocked being younger than that. Chances are, they've already made a new account within that time frame. Or if they made one today, we wouldn't be able to connect them as the IPs are removed from the account after a year. Even unblocking them now and letting them know they can use the account again, they probably completely forgot about it and their password. 16:08, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
- That is all based off assumptions. They could of not made a new account. They could of remembered their account and password (all of their internet accounts may have the same password, or they could of wrote it down). And the connecting ip thing does not matter, as they would not be reblocked anyways as they were unfairly blocked. As it not being decided about the word gay, not only is the word often inoffensive, but keeping those users blocked because of the use of the word gay is discrimination. Which is unacceptable. Doomhiker (talk) 18:15, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
- Those bans were regrettable, but going back and unblocking a bunch of accounts that, realistically, are never gonna see use again, would be a goofy and empty gesture at best.
Keeping a bunch of accounts blocked for (yes) invalid reasons is not an endorsement of the idea banning people for having "gay" in their name was ever really an acceptable practice, but that doing it for those accounts specifically is Not Worth The Effort. If someone is serious about editing the wiki under any of those names, they can (and probably would already have) contacted us. --Glowsquid (talk) 20:03, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
- Those bans were regrettable, but going back and unblocking a bunch of accounts that, realistically, are never gonna see use again, would be a goofy and empty gesture at best.
- There's not really a point to that anymore, but we agreed on "gay" not being a blockable term unless obviously used in a derogatory manner. 15:52, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
- As the user has been unblocked shouldn't the other users that have been blocked exclusively due to their similar usernames also be unblocked? Doomhiker (talk) 15:49, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
- I don't necessarily agree with those blocks either (and not all of those users were blocked for having "gay" either. There's nothing offensive about the word "gay". Ray Trace(T|C) 16:14, May 27, 2019 (EDT)
Alex the Toad's ip
Regardless of access to their account or not, they committed a blockable offence, and thus should be blocked on the spot. If he was logged into his account when he done the edit he would be blocked anyways, so what is changed here? Doomhiker (talk) 19:16, May 27, 2019 (EDT)
- I want to make sure he can actually get back into his account first. Once I have a definitive answer (either he gives an email, keeps editing with the mistakes, or manages to get back in himself), then I'll decide what to do. 19:36, May 27, 2019 (EDT)
- Now that he created another account, Amazing Super Toad Bros. (talk) shouldn't his new account be blocked temporarily? Just because he forgot his password does not excuse the fact the he committed a blockable offence that he did not get blocked for yet. Doomhiker (talk) 20:29, May 31, 2019 (EDT)

User talk:FireyYoshi#Last Warning
Shouldn't his last warning have been overturned as it was issued after he was blocked during his block? He technically did not do anything for a last warning, he just done enough to progress instantly from a regular warning to a block. Doomhiker (talk) 17:30, May 30, 2019 (EDT)
- It's still valid, serving as a permanent reminder not to that collection of violations again. 17:34, May 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Yeah, but a last warning does more than to remind a user. It affects how they get blocked. An action that would usually just grant a user a warning would instantly get them blocked even if they did not do that action before, if they have a last warning. However, if they just had a regular warning, they would just get another regular warning. So, him getting a last warning despite getting blocked beforehand without one will permanently and unfairly affect how he is blocked/warned. Doomhiker (talk) 17:38, May 30, 2019 (EDT)
- I suppose it could've been removed then, between the miscommunication of the admins. Yoshi876 was handing out the warning as I was blocking them. Then again, it doesn't really matter; if they do this stunt again, they'll just be blocked again anyway because of the information in the block log. They are on a last warning no matter what happens here. 17:46, May 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Yes, but what I mean is if he did not have a last warning if he, for example, enforced a proposal before it passed, he would simply get another regular warning due to it being a level two offence. However, due to his unnecessary last warning, if he done that he would be blocked instantly, despite him never doing it. As stated on the warning policy: "If you go to warn someone and find they have already been given a last warning for any issue, contact an admin, as that user most likely needs to be blocked for their latest misdemeanor." His unfair last warning will affect more that him doing that stunt: it will affect any other offence he may commit in the future. Doomhiker (talk) 17:54, May 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Alright, I get what you're saying. By this point, I certainly hope he's learned from that (it's been almost two years, after all), and I suppose the block itself was enough of a punishment. He hasn't had any major problems since, and since the warning and block came at the same time, I'll remove it. You're right, getting blocked for being on a last warning despite said warning happening during a block doesn't make sense. 18:03, May 30, 2019 (EDT)

This edit
Why did you alter that user's comment? The rules state that, per the warning policy, that you can only edit comments to fix coding and to enforce policy. Removing that part of the user's comment is like fixing other user's spelling errors in their comments. Doomhiker (talk) 19:12, June 1, 2019 (EDT)
- It was clearly intended to be the header. I could've just swapped it to be the header text instead, but I'll just put it back I guess.

Hey! Can you undelete Moon (Super Mario Maker 2)? I have work to do on it. -- FanOfYoshi 12:27, June 3, 2019 (EDT)
- Just recreate it. Reason it was deleted was because it didn't have a lot of information. You can make it again if you have more to add. 12:30, June 3, 2019 (EDT)
Owencrazyboys
It is not that they both start with the same regular name, it is that they both end with "crazyboy" followed by a number. Both names are spelt the same too. It is just too many coincidences to be one. Doomhiker (talk) 17:08, June 5, 2019 (EDT)
- It's also totally possible that this new person had the same idea as the first Owencrazyboy, but used a different number. I'm not the only user with "Alex" followed by a number, though Alex9S (talk) was a direct impersonator. If they start actually claiming to be Owencrazyboy9 outside of a password request, then there will be an issue. 17:13, June 5, 2019 (EDT)
Should I reupload these images?
File:Super Mario 3D World Climbing Cat Mario.png and File:SM3DWgrass.png are terrible quality. However, they appear to be pre-release with a few minor differences from the current game (e.g., the sign in the background of the Cat Mario picture). Since the galleries that link to these images do not dicuss the pre-release content of these images, should I replace these images, upload new ones alongside (like we did with File:SM3DW Bullet Bill Base E3.png and File:SM3DW Bullet Bill Base.jpg), or just leave them as-is? Here are my new images for comparison: https://imgur.com/a/gSqfPB7 --Super Mario Fan 67 (T•C•S) 16:55, June 6, 2019 (EDT)
- The quality isn't "terrible" in the slightest. But if they contain content that isn't in the final game, they should be kept, though moved to a pre-release content section or the List of Super Mario 3D World pre-release and unused content page. A final version should be uploaded separately and replace them in the gallery/articles. 16:58, June 6, 2019 (EDT)

Laptop
My dad recently got a laptop, but I don't know if I'll be able to edit my account onto it. I tried clearing my Google cache and force stopping Google, but I can't enter it. I want to use my original account, but I don't know if I can. Hopefully, I can do something about it with the laptop. Lord Falafel 2 (talk) 11:27, June 7, 2019 (EDT)

Black and White Yoshi
If this wiki were to talk about how to unlock Black and White Yoshi in Yoshi's Story, would you prefer it be discussed on the Yoshi's Story article or on the articles about the levels where the Black Yoshi Egg and White Yoshi Egg can be found? Dwhitney (talk) 14:10, June 9, 2019 (EDT)
- Both. I'd also say to add it to Black and White Yoshis' articles, but they got merged, so whelp. 16:07, June 9, 2019 (EDT)

In regards to the recent move...
The file move of Shieragutchi WL4 to WL4-Shieragucchi Sprite was not really to specify whether or not it was a sprite, but rather because the original file misspelled Shieragucchi (as Shieragutchi). Template:Octogoombas
Hey! Since this proposal failed, can you undelete Template:Octogoombas? It has an important history IIRC. -- FanOfYoshi 02:43, June 15, 2019 (EDT)
- That template was literally just the cateogy in template form, it was only on around five pages. Not worth keeping. 15:40, June 15, 2019 (EDT)
- I remember there being a split between the bosses and species, making it not just a category in template form. Plus there would be seven pages on the template (five species two bosses) and the template avoided Template:Goombas from being too crowded as if the template does not return the Octoombas will have to go on that template. So it is worth keeping. Doomhiker (talk) 16:43, June 15, 2019 (EDT)
- As a matter of fact, not all of them count as Goombas, and the ones that do are debatable anyways. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:00, June 15, 2019 (EDT)
- I agree with Doomhiker. We're starting to miss the point of navigation boxes: they are meant to make navigation easier. --DeepFriedCabbage 17:31, June 15, 2019 (EDT)

Well, this was a number of notifications.
Like Doomhiker said, there were only seven articles in the template. Navigation templates are meant to help with a large number of articles, a simple way of navigating between them. Seven articles is not a lot, navigation can be done through the category easily and it is immediately noticible what they all are and what their roles are. There's no hard limit on how many entries should be in a navigation template, but less than ten doesn't seem like a good number to me. 22:24, June 15, 2019 (EDT)
- Except that most non-user readers likely do not know how to acsess and to use categories, with the exception of the rare pages that directly tell the user to go to them. Templates are obvious in how to use them and what they are for, and they are on the same page as the subject making them easily acsessable. Doomhiker (talk) 07:12, June 16, 2019 (EDT)
- From MarioWiki:Navigation templates: "if a group of species only has a few members, a template might be excessive, especially if it is only a minor assortment of species and characters." I'm saying no, there are not enough members in the template. Aside from the basic Octogoomba, they only cover the Super Mario Galaxy games and can still be found in their respective templates. Species templates should be for major and multi-series-wide species, like Koopas. Octogoombas is too minor. 10:50, June 16, 2019 (EDT)

Yoshi Egg
LinkTheLefty requested a citation be added for proof of "egg" being capitalized in "Yoshi Egg" on the Yoshi Egg article, saying he hasn't seen proof of it. I couldn't find proof of it, either. Wario and Tatanga
It is never said or even implied in any official source that Tatanga was working for Wario all along. Every official source from the KC deluxe manga to the character encyclopedia's say he became a henchman of Wario after his scheme to marry daisy was foiled. Delsait (talk)
- "These Golden Coins are guarded by those under Wario's spell."
- This was in the reference you removed, which implies that Tatanga is also under the spell. It's from the game's manual.
- What sources are you finding? 22:15, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
- That implies Tatanga may have been hypnotized in the events of Super Mario Land 2, not that he was hynptozied in the events of the first Super Mario Land. The Perfect Edition of the Great Mario Character Encyclopedia and the Super Mario (Kodansha manga) manga all say Tatanga applied for the job as henchman recently to get revenge on Mario. The Land 2 guidebook which had new artwork also makes no mention of Tatanga invading Sarasaland under Wario's orders. Delsait (talk) 22:19, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
- Yeah, Super Mario Land 2 is the point here. There may be more info on being hired over being hypnotized, but that doesn't mean we can disregard one or the other. Should say Tatanga is hypnotized according to the manual, but was hired according to everything else, at least. 22:33, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
- Anyhow Tatanga being hired to kidnap Daisy in the events of Super Mario Land 1 is speculation with no basis in any media and deserves to be kept off the page. Tatanga possibly being hypnotized could be worthy of a mention, but Tatanga being Wario's henchman all along needs to be kept off until a source is given. Delsait (talk) 22:35, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
- What? Pretty sure it said somewhere that Tatanga was hired as a distraction so Wario could take over Mario's Castle (that also directly contradicts the hypnotism thing). I just checked our SML2 manual, and the only mention it makes of Tatanga is at the beginning, but makes not connection to Wario. So that's not where I heard it from... 22:41, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
- Nope Tatanga being hired by Wario as a distraction is simply a fabrication that has been on wikipedia and similar pages for who knows how long(I remember seeing it in 2008), yet no source from the manual to even the mangas supports this. You can see the discussion on it in the Tatanga talk page on our wiki. There's more support for the Giant spear man switching sides to Wario then Wario organizing the Sarasaland invasion. Delsait (talk) 22:45, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
- Well... That's disappointing. I guess I was one of those that looked to deep into it ^^; The line in the manual does seem to imply that Wario had some control over Tatanga, but I suppose that would be the spell of greed rather than an actual magical spell. 22:49, June 18, 2019 (EDT)

Please make sure Mario jc clicks those links you sent me and reads everything on those pages. He's not responding to me. He wants my citations, but they're right there, in that discussion post on my talk page. Please lead him to them. Lord Falafel (talk) 10:53, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
- By the time you told him to do so, he went offline. The message you already sent on his talk page should be enough. But you need to be referring to proper sources yourself. 11:18, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
About to quit
I don't care what happens to my additions anymore. You're all wanting sources from me and the only way I'm adding them is by reading their code and putting that reference in another place. I can't take the torture anymore. I'm doing my best to cite my sources and I put the information in the summaries and Mario jc says that's not enough. I gave you sources to so many games, but no one has time to look at that. I'm about to give up, so please encourage me to keep going. I don't know if I can deal with the constant stress. Lord Falafel (talk) 11:32, June 19, 2019 (EDT)

There are still 2 more arcade games that are archived on the Mario boards: Mario world, which is the first Banpresto game shown in that collection and terebi denwa super Mario world misnamed televidenwa super Mario world and incorrectly corrected terebidenwa super Mario world without the space between terebi and denwa. Lord Falafel (talk) 20:53, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
- Super Mario World arcade doesn't need a reference back to the Mario Boards, but I added the other game. 21:00, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
Not super Mario world (arcade), Mario world without the super and it does need a Mario boards reference. Lord Falafel (talk) 21:13, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
Double donkey kong and donkey kong (2005) are on a website called international arcade museum and are findable at the same time if after you enter that website you search donkey kong and make sure you select all machines. There will be different categories that focus on different kinds of machines. One of those options is all machines. Select that option and then look up donkey kong. You'll find various donkey kong machines and 2 of those will be the aforementioned games. Lord Falafel (talk) 21:44, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
We must hurry! You have to find a Japanese citizen who speaks Japanese and English on the super Mario wiki quick! He needs to cite the source for super Mario seesaw takeover. The source is on Yahoo Japan and it's all in Japanese. It expires in 11 hours. Get a Japanese guy who lives in Japan and is on the wiki and get him to buy the machine and take pictures. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:04, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
It costs 120,000 yen. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:05, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
The auction ID is Q165133918. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:13, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
- I know some people, but probably don't want to spend 120,000 yen on that. Also, I can't find it. 22:15, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
Tell them to look it up. Maybe they don't have to buy it, but they can take a picture of it and upload it. Please tell them to. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:17, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
I added a citation, but it leads to nowhere. Shoot. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:22, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
I fixed the link! It's the 9th citation on the list of games organized by system! Check it out quick! Lord Falafel (talk) 22:28, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
I thought I fixed it. Find someone fast. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:29, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
Just tell the Japanese people to look up super Mario seesaw takeover on Ya-hoo Japan in their language. It has Mario and yoshi on it as well as a galoomba and it's made by Banpresto. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:33, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
- I already said something, I just can't give them a link. Watch your tone. 22:38, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
The listing area is Ishikawa prefecture. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:38, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
Maybe this link will help. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp Lord Falafel (talk) 22:50, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
It's a shorter url. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:50, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
If you can't give them a link, tell them to go on Google images or maybe just Yahoo Japan. We must do something. I don't wanna lose this game. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:52, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
Ok. That link works. Now the Japanese people just have to use their national language to look up the ride. Please tell them to. This can work. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:54, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
- The only relevant thing that comes up when I search Super Mario Seesaw Takeover is our list of games. I can't find any other information on this thing anywhere. 22:58, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
I want the Japanese speakers to find it on Google images or Yahoo Japan. Unless you speak Japanese, you'll probably not be able to find it. But if you do find it by some miracle like I did while searching "Mario kiddie ride" on Google images, then that'll be awesome. Maybe the jpg of the best picture I took of it will come through. Screenshot_20190617-185052.jpg Lord Falafel (talk) 23:13, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
- I'm finding several things for Mario Kiddie Ride, all of them terrible and very unofficial. 23:19, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
This one was made by Banpresto and it's very hard to come by. We must find it. I took a few pictures of it. Please keep looking until you find it. We cannot lose this. Lord Falafel (talk) 23:35, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
I found it on Google images. Go to Google images and look up @yamapen3 Mario and keep scrolling down until you see two anime girls on each side of a bubu Mario machine directly facing the camera and look at related images. The two anime girls are Lily Adams and Katie Forester from the yo-kai watch anime. Lord Falafel (talk) 23:52, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
- This funny looking thing? It doesn't look very official. 23:55, June 19, 2019 (EDT)
I'm seeing that bubu Mario machine I mentioned. Select related images to it and you'll probably find the ride I told you about. @yamapen3 puts their profile pictures all over some of their finds, by the way. But the ride I told you about, super Mario seesaw takeover was not posted by them. Please find the ride and then send me a link to a picture and I'll let you know if it's the right one or the wrong one. Lord Falafel (talk) 00:02, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
- 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 is all I'm finding. All look like some kind of knock-off, but maybe there's some authenticity here? 00:09, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
They're all official, but none of those are the machine. Keep looking for it. If you see blue wording that says related images, click that. The image has Mario, yoshi and a galoomba on the machine and it's by Yahoo auctions. Lord Falafel (talk) 00:13, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
- I found it: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/q165133918 Link sent to Mario Wiki Discord, but I doubt anyone will buy it. Regardless, I know what you're talking about now, so we'll see what sort of info we can dig up later. I'm going to be done for now, though, it's getting late. 00:21, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
If you're available right now, I'll need you to go to international arcade museum and cite the sources for double donkey kong and donkey kong (2005) for the arcade as well as cite the source for super Mario seesaw takeover and later I'll tell you where to find the rest of the machines. Lord Falafel (talk) 10:18, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
- Will later. 11:58, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
- Site says Double Donkey Kong is a modded hack of the original arcade unit. Unless that's officially endorsed by Nintendo, which it doesn't look like it is, it doesn't count for our coverage. The Donkey Kong 2005 arcade cabinet looks more like a compilation and can just be covered on the respective games' articles, doesn't need its own. As for Super Mario Seesaw, it looks more like a ride than an arcade, so it doesn't get an article. 14:01, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
Also, we have the wrong image for the donkey kong country pinball machine. The right one is on eBay and it shows the machine and the box. Also, we have the wrong page for the super Mario world pinball machine on worthpoint. Both are on worthpoint, but the right one dates the machine as 1992. When you have time, please do all that. Lord Falafel (talk) 14:02, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
Super Mario seesaw takeover has to get an article. It was released for arcades. Or at least don't give donkey kong (2005) or super Mario seesaw takeover their own pages, but put them in category: arcade games and please keep them on the list of games organized by system. They're important pieces of Mario and donkey kong history. Lord Falafel (talk) 14:10, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
Maybe we can put both games within pages. But both games need blue links. Lord Falafel (talk) 14:39, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
- Is the Mario Seesaw thing an arcade, though? It really just looks like you sit in the Yoshi and the base moves around. Y'know, like a seesaw.
- If they don't get their own page, then there's nothing to categorize. If it's not a game, then it doesn't go on the list. It can maybe get its own page, since it doesn't exactly fit in a merchandise list, but it wouldn't be categorized under a game category if it's not one. 14:45, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
First, there are lots of non games that are on the list of games organized by system. Second, both arcade titles should stay on that same list. Third, I decided they should get their own pages. Fourth, I'm almost positive I see a yen box on the seesaw. So, it has to be from an arcade. Fifth, it's probably a mechanical seesaw, rather than a manual one. One reason is usually, there would need to be two people to operate a manual one. Also, we should change those super Mario world electronic pinball and donkey kong country electronic pinball citations to the descriptions I sent you. Hopefully, they're easily findable. Lord Falafel (talk) 15:08, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
- 1. They should be removed and placed elsewhere. 2. If they're actual arcades, sure. 3. Not how that works, they need to fall within our coverage policies. 4. "From" an arcade and "actually being an arcade machine" are two different things. Just because it has a yenbox doesn't make it an arcade machine. Think Donkey Kong. 5. Likely.
- I'll change citations in a bit, if I can find them. 16:44, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
Try Google images. I believe in you. Lord Falafel (talk) 23:35, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
Keep trying. If you can't find anything, I'll look. Lord Falafel (talk) 14:09, June 21, 2019 (EDT)

Please block my old account
Hello Alex, I had had troubles logging in with my old George Jones account. I forgot my password and I didn't have an email attached to it to reset my password. So I'm asking you to block my old account Which is George Jones. White Lightning (talk) 14:16, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
- Do you have an email of any kind? Even if it's not attached to the account, Porple can still give you a password reset. 14:17, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
I have one associated to my Marioboards account. I didn't know that a password reset was possible if I didn't have one attached to my account. But, I'm thinking on using this one from now on. Well, I still have stuff to learn about the Wiki. White Lightning (talk) 14:21, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
- You can get your old account back, so you should do so. You can then request a name change if you want to at MarioWiki:Changing username. 14:22, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
Okay, I was just being kind of stupid, but when I get my account back, I will need a 'crat to rename this one so I can use it for my old one. So, I guess I will contact Porple on the forums. Yeah I lost the password due to my Wii U, my device that I had my password on decided to decide to put an error code for this site. If my Wii U didn't do it, I wouldn't be in this mess. So I'll contact him. Thank you for your help White Lightning (talk) 14:44, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
Electronic tabletop pinball
I added the correct citations for the electronic pinball games based on super Mario world and donkey kong country and removed the wrong ones. However, the links to my citations are broken. Please read what they say and look that info up on Google and you will be able to find the pages. Once you do, select them, capture their urls and attach them to my broken links. Please help me. Lord Falafel (talk) 17:14, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
- I finally found the Donkey Kong Country one, I think. But I can't find the Super Mario World one anywhere. 17:20, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
You did it! You indeed did find the donkey kong country pinball machine. Keep looking for the super Mario world one. It's there. It's on worthpoint. Maybe use a different platform. Like a phone or tablet or something. Lord Falafel (talk) 17:28, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
- I tried "Super Mario World pinball", "Super Mario World electronic pinball", "Super Mario World Playtime pinball", "Super Mario World 1992"... All gave me either Super Mario World itself or the "Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World" pinball game. Is that the one you mean? 17:30, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
No, not super Mario bros mushroom world. Select Google and type in these keywords: super Mario world pinball playtime worthpoint. Scroll down the page of results until you come across a post on www.worthpoint.com that says it came out in 1992. Lord Falafel (talk) 17:40, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
- This is the only Super Mario World-related pinball machine I am finding. I cannot find anything else. Telling me to keep trying is not bringing up any different results. 17:49, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
Select the link you gave me and scroll down to similar items. I just found it there. Lord Falafel (talk) 17:52, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
Excellent! Now with that out of the way, donkey kong (2005) by Namco is the next game to be sourced. It's on international arcade museum if (when you're in the site) you select all machines and then search donkey kong. Lord Falafel (talk) 18:00, June 21, 2019 (EDT)
Apparently, donkey kong (2005) doesn't exist. The pictures that are showing up on that page on international arcade museum are of the compilation known as donkey kong/donkey kong Jr/Mario bros. I'm removing donkey kong (2005) from the list of games organized by system. Lord Falafel (talk) 20:10, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
- I said that's what it was earlier: "The Donkey Kong 2005 arcade cabinet looks more like a compilation and can just be covered on the respective games' articles, doesn't need its own." 20:25, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
At least all machines by Banpresto, Konami, Sunwise and Fabtek I know are official. The first one to have the source cited that borp didn't know about is super Mario seesaw takeover and I tried to link it and used every exact key to cite the machine, but it didn't work. I'll try it again. If the source is broken, I'll need you to fix it. Lord Falafel (talk) 20:38, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
The link isn't broken! Yes! Lord Falafel (talk) 20:48, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Screen? Lord Falafel (talk) 20:55, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
When I accessed the link on the list, I saw the machine on the left. Unless you mean a screen like on an arcade cabinet. If you mean that, this is an apparent mechanical seesaw that seems to operate when you put yen in the box. Lots of these arcade machines don't have screens. Most of them are mechanical. But there's yet another Mario kiddie ride and it's already on the list. It's called tobebe Mario and I had apparently misnamed it tori Mario. So, I fixed that mistake I made on the list a while back. It also doesn't have a screen. But enough of that. Rather than capturing the website for tobebe Mario, I need you to only capture the appropriate image. It is a close up of the ride from the front. Cape Mario is the Mario part of the ride, but this image only shows the front of the ride. Mario has closed fists and there's some damage. Use the Google search engine to look up @yamapen3. Then look at images. One of the first images should show it and those characters from the yo-kai watch anime on the sides of the image. Select that image and then select related images and hopefully it shows you the close up image of the ride I told you about. And the website is once again Yahoo! Japan. Lord Falafel (talk) 21:12, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
The title of the image will partially be in Japanese, but the stuff I can read says cocolulujp2000. Lord Falafel (talk) 21:14, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
- ...Before I do anything else, I'm making this clear: The list of games is meant for that. Games. Not kiddie rides. Cabinets with screens and you input controls. That is what an arcade machine is. Not a mechanical ride you sit on. So unless you can play a game on these rides, with a screen and controls like you would see for Donkey Kong, the seesaw and tobebe things are to be removed. 21:17, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
First, I need the jpg for tobebe Mario so I can access it easier, please. Second, so I can access it on this talk page. Third, where will these go? I suppose I can put them on another platform on the list of games organized by system. But what should I call it? Lord Falafel (talk) 21:24, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Because the next 2 machines I'm telling you about are battery cars that you ride and they automatically drive on a course and aren't kiddie rides. Lord Falafel (talk) 21:26, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
I'll just make 2 more platform articles: kiddie ride and battery car. I have to keep the machines on this list because they have nowhere else to go and they're not toys. Lord Falafel (talk) 21:30, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
- Maybe I'll find the links later.
- I don't know where they would go, but they can't go on that list. These are not games, and we don't exactly have a list of officially licensed rides. Perhaps one could be made, but I don't imagine that being a big list. Next best is Gallery:Miscellaneous_merchandise, but they aren't exactly merchandise I think. 21:33, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Please send me the jpg for tobebe Mario and I will try to figure out where these rides and battery cars should go. Lord Falafel (talk) 21:46, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
I'll wait for the jpg. I'll tell you the information regarding those 2 battery cars. They are the Mario and yoshi versions of super Mario ride and they can be found on Google images if you search @yamapen3 Mario. Since they're battery cars, people can sit in them on seats. They're not pinned on a stand, they drive on an outdoor pavement. They both came out in 1993 exclusively in Japan and were made by Banpresto. The Mario version is a yellow battery car and it has a small Mario figure built on the top and on the front of the car is a white circle with a red M in the center. The yoshi version is green and uses yoshi's body as the base. The front of the machine is obviously yoshi's head. But on the left of the car are a built on galoomba under a toad head that has a candy cane-like patterned mushroom top and growing out of that top is a mushroom. Since I described them, it'll be easier to find them. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:28, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Sorry. The toad head is next to the galoomba. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:31, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
- I'll get to it tomorrow, maybe. Dealing with a number of things right now. 22:31, June 23, 2019 (EDT)

Questions
First question. If an editor is banned from the super Mario wiki or any other NIWA wiki, can they still look at the wiki? Lord Falafel (talk) 21:31, June 22, 2019 (EDT)
- You can view a wiki even if you are banned on it. You just can't edit it. 00:39, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Second question. If an editor's Google account is terminated, can said editor still access his wiki account after creating another Google account? Lord Falafel (talk) 01:00, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Third question. Will an editor get banned if he retires? Lord Falafel (talk) 01:08, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
- No, you don't get blocked for simply leaving. Blocking is only used to prevent or stop a problem. 01:11, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Not to sound like a psychopath, but just curious. Have any super Mario wiki members died other than walkazo? Lord Falafel (talk) 01:19, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
- Not sure. I think a few have, but none come to mind. Off Mario Wiki, I know about Axiomist and Matthew Pyke. Life goes on. 01:23, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Because I sent walkazo my condolences. Next question. How many individuals have been banned from the super Mario wiki? Lord Falafel (talk) 01:27, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Alright, I think that's everything. I hope I'm not spamming your talk page. Lord Falafel (talk) 01:35, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
I have another question: was the super Mario wiki the first NIWA wiki? Lord Falafel (talk) 16:56, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
- It, Zelda Wiki, and Bulbapedia are what formed the NIWA group. You can learn more about that at MarioWiki:Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance and the various related links. 17:01, June 23, 2019 (EDT)

A ride and battery cars
The electronic tabletop pinball talk page is moving far away from electronic tabletop pinball machines. When you have found the jpg for tobebe Mario, post it on this talk page. I want it to be sent in a more appropriate place. Lord Falafel (talk) 11:58, June 24, 2019 (EDT)
- I found both a YouTube video and a JPG of the Cape Mario ride, but I think I found this one earlier. 12:21, June 24, 2019 (EDT)
It's because of that stupid picture on the ride that @yamapen3 put on there that we can't include that certain jpg on any list or page. But there's another video of that ride that you can find on Google images and it's posted by someone with a Japanese username and shows the ride moving and the title screen theme from super Mario world is being generated by that ride and there are pitch errors in this rendition of the theme. But the video you gave me is enough to prove that this ride exists. If you have time, please give me the jpg of tobebe Mario with no anime girl in it that I said is on Yahoo! Japan. Next, I need the jpegs for both versions of super Mario ride without any anime girls. But they were probably posted by the same people. Lord Falafel (talk) 13:32, June 24, 2019 (EDT)
- Spent about an hour searching and I'm coming up with nothing. I don't know how you found these, but since you seem to know where to look, I recommend waiting until you have proper access to a computer so you can copy the links correctly. Progress was made here, but I can't keep spending my time to look for obscure Japanese stuff when I have much more important things I need to be doing. I'll help you with wiki matters, but this is rather tedious. I'm sorry, but I have to be done here. 14:42, June 24, 2019 (EDT)

- "Use the Google search engine to look up @yamapen3. Then look at images. One of the first images should show it and those characters from the yo-kai watch anime on the sides of the image. Select that image and then select related images and hopefully it shows you the close up image of the ride I told you about. And the website is once again Yahoo! Japan." I did this. Nothing different showed up. 01:07, June 25, 2019 (EDT)
Sometimes it's hard to find that image of tobebe Mario. I struggle finding it a lot. But do it every day and you'll find it. While scrolling down through the related images, keep on scrolling slowly. Lord Falafel (talk) 01:28, June 25, 2019 (EDT)

He is asking to me to find a picture with a rideable Japanese Cape Mario sent by his friend, and won't give up. I tried to look for it for the past hour, but nothing came to it. What should we do? Solution
I found an easier way to find those battery cars. @yamapen3 still needs to be typed and entered into Google images, but there's a color option that you can click to see the images you want to regarding their color. You wanna help me test this? If so, you'll need to read the details of the battery cars I sent you, look up @yamapen3 on Google images, choose red for the Mario battery car and green for the yoshi battery car, look for pictures of those battery cars with no anime girls in the pictures, send me the images, wait for me to see if they're the right ones and if so, the next step will be to turn those images into jpg or png files and then I'll put those images in the miscellaneous merchandise section. And then we can finally get them out of the way. I don't know who else to ask. Lord Falafel (talk) 00:00, June 27, 2019 (EDT)
That sucks, cuz there's one for me. There are different colored rectangles. I guess they're exclusive to mobile. Lord Falafel (talk) 20:57, June 28, 2019 (EDT)
Citations
Hi. You posted on my user talk that "punctuation goes after the reference tags". Is this an established convention? To be pedantic the "Citations" page doesn't actually say whether citations should be used before or after punctuation, and the actual usage would seem to indicate that neither is preferred - both styles seem commonly used. Amazing Super Toad Bros. It's the annoying file guy again (and again and again and again)
Hello. Seeing as you respond best to these types of questions, I was wondering if you could help me a little bit here. As I tried to wrap up Mario Party 8, there were a few files that were left that were too big for me to feel good about attempting to accomplish. These files are as follows:- File:YoshiMP8Artwork.png (make lowercase) (Now found at File:YoshiMP8.png)
- File:MarioMP8Artwork.png (make lowercase) (Now found at File:MarioMP8.png)
- File:MP8 Yoshi Icon.png (rename to MP8 Yoshi Icon to be consistent with other renames, for capitalization and specific game naming) (Now found at File:MP8 Yoshi Icon.png)
I was unsure as whether just ask you or someone with similar 'replace text' powers to move these files, or to have a full proposal on the matter. They are fairly popular pages, after all. Thank you for your time. Trig - 13:45, June 30, 2019 (EDT)
- No need for a proposal. I'll take care of the links when I can. Those are used in user signatures, which makes a lot of links to the image. 16:13, June 30, 2019 (EDT)

Hello it's me again. I was wondering if you would allow me to use my test image as a part of my file name changing demonstration on your talk page here. It would be created as a new section below. Should anyone else want to be a part of the test, please feel free to respond below this here as well. Trig - 22:04, July 4, 2019 (EDT)
- I would prefer any tests you'd like to happen not be on my talk page. I'm not sure what test you have in mind, but any tests should be in your own userspace, not someone else's (your own talk, sandbox, etc.). 23:18, July 4, 2019 (EDT)
- The goal was to have the image linked to more than one page (my own), to show the different ways a file may be used on a page to be changed if someone needed to. Luckily, someone else was happy to help this demonstration. See this segment for more information. User:Trig Jegman - 08:02, July 5, 2019 (EDT)
Sorry for not ever going away, but I was curious as to whether or not it would be okay to tag my notes section with {{image-quality}} similarly to how Wildgoosespeeder's Quality Request or The RAP test apply theirs? Quite a few of mine deal with the quality of images, and even nod to specific ones. Trig - 19:24, July 6, 2019 (EDT)
- No need to apologize for asking a question ^^ Theirs' are on talk pages, which allow the list to be edited by others. If you want to add a list of images that need fixing, that's fine. But others need to be able to adjust it. 19:27, July 6, 2019 (EDT)

Was looking at the wanted pages section and found Talk:List of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door beta elements had a few links. Since this was changed to Talk:List of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door pre-release and unused content, I was like oh well let's change it to look the same but link to the right place instead! ...and most of it is old shroom stuff I can't touch. I was wondering if you could replace said links to correctly route as such: Talk:List of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door beta elements. Trig - 18:17, July 9, 2019 (EDT)
I have the page for Plunger written and ready to go, but still would like its Talk page deleted. Nothing paper mario links through it, as it seems to have been a search based redirect, and it is not necessary for the enemy. I will add an about temp just in case. Trig - 17:12, July 10, 2019 (EDT)
- There's no reason to get rid of the talk page. The main page, while no longer an actual article, still exists, and any discussion can still continue on the talk page as is. 17:16, July 10, 2019 (EDT)
Much like existential dread, I never seem to go away. Today's 'how-to-approach" is the file File:Super Mario Galaxy NA Box Art.jpg. The name of this file is pretty bad and I would most prefer it as "Super Mario Galaxy NA Box Art.jpg". The problem is that a majority of it is a user image. Should I propose it? Should I try and see if the legendary all-seeing all-knowing Porplemontage will help? If not either, how should I approach this issue? Trig - 16:57, July 13, 2019 (EDT)
- Wow, that is exactly 100 pages. As per our Category:Pages to be deleted page, userspace does not need to be edited to fix links, that's mainly up to the owner. I edit sigs anyway, because those can be transcluded to a number of pages and can be fixed with a single edit. You can leave those links broken or talk to Porple for a bot edit so it doesn't send a userspace notification, up to you. 12:09, July 14, 2019 (EDT)
Hey, so what's the deal with File:Pauline background.jpg and File:SMO Art - Pauline Card.jpg? Yeah, they're different sizes but besides that they are the same image. Do we really need both, or can we chuck one of them to the trash? Trig - 21:52, July 19, 2019 (EDT)
Would it be okay to replace File:Bowser on Koopa King kart MKDD.png, a BJAODN-only image, with the virtually identical File:Bowser and Jr Mushroom City MKDD.png? I don't think having both is necessary (and the latter is better named). Trig - 15:25, July 26, 2019 (EDT)
- The reason why I kept both is because the first one is humorously edited. I explain why here. 17:17, July 26, 2019 (EDT)
- "("This file was edited to remove the spikes on the front-right wheels, despite everything else still having the spikes, including the opposite wheels, to look... less menacing, I guess? This is what the image is supposed to look like.)"
The description of the file in BJAODN explains its entire purpose. -- Lord G. matters. 17:25, July 26, 2019 (EDT)

Arcade games
Hi, there. We have 3 arcade games left to give credible sources to. They are numbers 10, 15 and 16. If you're interested in helping, then awesome. They should be easy to find if you search @yamapen3 Mario on Google images. Easier than it is to find the battery cars. If you want to help, please let me know. I'll give you the basics. I don't want to go too in depth. Lord Falafel (talk) 20:13, July 4, 2019 (EDT)
RE:Renaming for clarity
I meant "RFC" as in "renamed for consistency," as that's apparently how Trig Jegman uses that abbreviation lately. I renamed those files mostly to be consistent with most of the other YWW enemy images. I wanted them all to be in the format "YWW Enemy Name.jpg" to make them easier to keep track of when adding to pages. I plan to upload about 20-30 new ones that will all be in that format. Also, many of the enemies appear in multiple games, such as SMW2:YI, so I felt that having them named "Enemy Name.jpg" wasn’t specific enough, especially with how distinct the appearances of objects in YWW are. --Super Mario Fan 67 (T•C•S) 00:42, July 6, 2019 (EDT)
- Yeah, I recently changed RFC to be consistency to further distinguish it from RFA (renamed for accuracy), as a majority of the ones I was doing was somewhat the same. I don't expect to change any more of my terms anytime soon though. Sorry bout that. Trig - 10:07, July 6, 2019 (EDT)
"BigTiddy" account name
While "tiddy" can mean small, the phrase "big tiddy" is indeed a memetic alternate way of saying "large breasts." Now, I don't think it really deserves a ban, but just saying. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:57, July 9, 2019 (EDT)
- I only looked up "tiddy", because I wasn't sure what that meant. But looking up "big tiddy" now is bringing up a lot of big breasted goth girl memes, so... Hmm, I'll talk it over with the others, I guess. 17:04, July 9, 2019 (EDT)

Issue
We have a serious problem. The super Mario world and donkey kong country pinball machine images have been removed from the list. We must get them back. Lord Falafel (talk) 23:05, July 9, 2019 (EDT)

@yamapen3 arcade games
Should something happen to me, I want you to have the basics regarding the remaining arcade games in a shorter note than my missing games discussion board on the list of games. Pika Pika Mario will be in between a sailor moon arcade game and a set of stairs. Super Mario's Rock-Paper-Scissors will have hands all over it and OXX lights as well as figurines of Mario and Yoshi on the top that look like what they do on the Mario undoukai machine. And Guru Guru Mario will have a red number 14 on the top right. These can be found on Google images in the related images of tobetobe Mario as well as the related images of each other. If you search @yamapen3 on Google images, tobetobe Mario should be one of the first images. Select it and look through the related images. If one pops up, good. If the other 2 don't, look at that image's related images. Lord Falafel (talk) 00:33, July 14, 2019 (EDT)
- I don't know what you're thinking would happen to you, but okay, I'll look back at this later. 12:10, July 14, 2019 (EDT)
Also, I need help with an image. The way the super Mario 64 electronic pinball image is a jpg image on our site and not a link to some weird website, I need that done with the super Mario club image that is the first image on an imgur link that has the super Mario club title screen as the first image that appears. It's the image with Japanese text over a black background. I don't want that link to be in the image section. I want the image itself in the image section. Why? Two reasons: it makes logical sense to have an image there of that title screen and below the image on the imgur post, there are some suggestive images. I don't want to get kicked off the wiki for uploading links with inappropriate images, nor do I want people to see those bad images. I want someone to help me screencap that first image and turn it into a jpg file for and on the wiki. But I don't know who to ask for help. The link is on super Mario club's page. The TV series, not the debugging program. Lord Falafel (talk) 18:10, July 14, 2019 (EDT)
- I'm not in the right state of mind to focus on looking through internet databases at the moment, so I'll get to it when I can. 18:29, July 14, 2019 (EDT)
We got the super Mario club logo uploaded. Lord Falafel (talk) 11:19, July 15, 2019 (EDT)
A quick question
I've issued a warning to TheRaoul1992 due to removing the new subject template to pages directly after a game has been released, and not a decade after. I now kinda think that warning was unecessary. Is it a problem? -- FanOfYoshi 11:01, July 14, 2019 (EDT)
Considering they've been given a reminder for it already, nah.EDIT: Never mind, I just saw the appeal, we'll look over that. However, I was told {{upcoming}}/{{just released}} and {{new subject}} are to be removed after a month, not a decade (that is way too long). There's no time frame actually set in stone, but directly after release is too soon, yes. 12:13, July 14, 2019 (EDT)- Oh, of no fault of FanOfYoshi, TheRaoul1992's reminder and warning are kind of invalid as the text on the upcoming template both implies that you can remove the template day 1 (See my proposal) and it does not give a removal date, so there was no way that Rauol could know that removing the template after a day was wrong, and the FanOfYoshi was right. Does it matter?
Hi. About borp's finds, I can click on the images and it will tell me the name of the jpg file name. Since the Mario boards forum is a subsidiary of the super Mario wiki, can I just add the jpg file name from the Mario boards to a gallery or something on the wiki without having to create a new file on the wiki? Will it already be available? Lord Falafel (talk) 19:18, July 17, 2019 (EDT)
- A gallery will not display an image through a url, it will just display the url text. The image should be hosted on the wiki. 19:37, July 17, 2019 (EDT)
Should I move these files
Many of the files liked on Gallery:Nintendo 3DS are an absolute mess of filenames, some of the worst examples are File:Ss preview 23hq4.jpg.jpg and File:20110218 00005.jpg. However, many of them are linked on numerous Userpages. Is it worth moving them and breaking so many user pages, or should I leave files that are linked on a lot of userpages alone? Many of those user pages belong to inactive users and already have many broken filenames anyway. --Super Mario Fan 67 (T•C•S) 14:13, July 18, 2019 (EDT)

Yoshi Comparison
Hey there, there has been disagreements with Yoshi's design comparison in his Physical description section, which image do you think works better for the article?
I was just wondering because I am not trying to start an edit war, thanks!
--Sdman213 - Profile 23:49, 18 August 2019 (EDT)
- (I deleted the image on the right, but I guess Mister Wu wants to keep it :P) Definitely the left, though I think File:YoshiMP8art.png works better than both of them. However, the left and center images in that section should already be enough to depict Yoshi's changes; there's nothing different between the center image and the right image aside from art style. 00:07, August 19, 2019 (EDT)
- Alright... so Use the MP8 for center and the Yoshi Excited image for the right for the comparison?
--Sdman213 - Profile 00:13, 19 August 2019 (EDT)
- It really just needs the Super Mario World artwork and either the MP8 or excited image, imo. The color pencil-like image is accurate, sure, but it's specifically stylized for an event and not representative of any major changes. 00:17, August 19, 2019 (EDT)

I think they passed the trying to learn line. Look at this edit. They, again, tried to readded Rortress, which is what they got blocked for in the first place. Plus, their second sandbox was a copy-and-paste of a template. I know that we should not assume bad faith, but in this case it may be assuming good faith too much. Doomhiker (talk) 21:24, August 19, 2019 (EDT)
- Taking a closer look a their edits, it involves a lot of random template placing along with whatever "Rortress" is. The template copy-paste is weird, but since it was only on the Sandbox, it wasn't detrimental. I was not aware of the deleted pages, I just saw those. With all that, the guy has offered nothing constructive at all and seems more interested in making jokes. 21:30, August 19, 2019 (EDT)
Help
Alex, I found a Japanese McDonald's game watch for Luigi's Hammer Toss. Ireallydontcare123456789 uploaded images of other Japanese McDonald's game watch games such as Mario's Egg Catch and Princess Toadstool's Castle Run. But he got mad and left the wiki. You must find him. Find out if he has a YouTube channel or a Facebook account or something. I tried getting in contact with him, but he didn't reply. We have to get him back. He needs to help us. He must upload that image. Lord Falafel (talk) 00:10, August 20, 2019 (EDT)
- Nothing I can do about that. If he doesn't want to come back, that's up to him. Wiki editing isn't an obligation. 11:15, August 20, 2019 (EDT)
Colons
In the "Released" section in infoboxes, should colons come after the game console names? Dwhitney (talk) 00:49, August 20, 2019 (EDT)
- {{format}} and {{input}} do it, so I don't see why the released section shouldn't. 11:15, August 20, 2019 (EDT)
Re: Images
Hi!
Sorry about the mess-ups involving uploading images. Going forward those issues shouldn't happen.
I understand how it all works now so hopefully my contributions will require less maintenance. Thanks for letting me know as well as throwing me those tips! ~TV (talk · edits) 00:07, August 22, 2019 (EDT)
MarioLover54's block
Shouldn't MarioLover54's block be one month instead of three weeks, considering that he was blocked for 2 weeks before? Doomhiker (talk) 16:15, August 22, 2019 (EDT)
- It was a minor thing he was reported on, and though he was blocked for it before, it only happened once.
- Though he has pretty much only been on talk pages... 19:17, August 22, 2019 (EDT)
- I reported more because they seemed to have learned nothing from their previous block (and talk page messages) than because of that one small thing. On its own, I would have simply reverted and not given it a second thought, but this was after they left numerous messages on talk pages proclaiming their hatred for the changes to the species infobox and were told off for it multiple times. RE: Dr. Mario World artwork
Hi,
To answer your question regarding the artwork for Dr. Mario World, I got Dr. Daisy's artwork directly from the Nintendo Life site, which was later seen on the We Are Daisy Fandom page (they beat me to the punch,I just cropped it for perfectionism purposes), and the other three I got from this wiki, I just had to very carefully remove the white background and changed them to PNG format. But apart from that, I was extremely careful to keep the quality in all four of them.

Crash image
Actually, it's showing one of the carnivorous plant enemies in that game (this one floating on the surface of the water). Ultimately, it's just a carnivorous plant; the ones that seem closest to Piranha Plants are the ones in the second game, which at least have white spots (though the main flower is more of a purplish black color), and some in the third game that are red with white spots, but spit seeds instead of chomping. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:09, August 25, 2019 (EDT)
- Oh, well, there's still the mushrooms? Would that make the image usable or no? 18:56, August 25, 2019 (EDT)
- Red one that spits seeds is in the second game as well. I hardly think both the plant and mushrooms are supposed to be referencing Mario. Mario JC 22:33, August 25, 2019 (EDT)
- Alright then. 22:37, August 25, 2019 (EDT)
- It was the second game, not the third game, yeah. There arn't any real carnivorous plants with that coloration, but Fly Agaric mushrooms are very common in fiction. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:16, August 26, 2019 (EDT)
- Alright then. 22:37, August 25, 2019 (EDT)
Appreciation
Thanks for backing me up, Alex. I've been blocked before. It's not fun. I don't want to go through that again. I will do everything I can to defend the valid edits I make for this wiki. And I will make sure everything official sees the light of day. I owe you one. Lord Falafel (talk) 23:20, August 28, 2019 (EDT)

Not having the full title everywhere makes us look unprofessional Lord Falafel (talk) 20:51, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
- It's stated in the first sentence that "Doki Doki Panic" is used, and even in official material like Smash Bros. Wii U. Looking at the boxart, "Yume Kōjō" is not actually present as part of the game's title, it's there as a promotion (but is still part of the title, I know that sounds confusing). 21:33, August 30, 2019 (EDT)

What counts as a boss in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
I don't know why people keep reverting my edits on the Smash Ultimate template for no reason, when these "so-called" bosses are really not. Why is this the case? Well, let me count the reasonings:
- Giga Bowser, Galleom, Dharkon, Galeem, Marx, Dracula, Master Hand, Crazy Hand, Rathalos and Ganon have health bars at the top of the screen, which aren't the same as damage percentages or the Stamina mode health bars.
- The above bosses don't have the announcer say "Ready? Go!" at the start of the battle. This only applies to regular character encounters, which the Giant Donkey Kong and Palutena and the Metal Mario encounters are. This also applies for Mega Man's final round to a lesser extent.
- The "so-called" bosses at the end of Classic Mode (those being a Giant Donkey Kong, a Giant Palutena and a Metal Mario) have none of these things. Not only that, they just use a permanent Super Mushroom or Metal Box, just like other opponents found in other character's Classic Modes (like Kirby fighting a Giant Yoshi and a Giant Wario or the Dragon Quest Hero fighting a Giant Charizard after defeating Robin for his final round).
- The actual bosses in Classic Mode, depending on which character is selected, are not always fought for the final round. Some characters fight the boss before the final round (Mega Man, Bowser and the Hero come to mind); the actual final round for some characters is against a regular character or two regular characters, one after another (Bowser, Mega Man, Jigglypuff and Bayonetta come to mind there too).
Those are my reasonings as to why Giga Bowser, Galleom, Dharkon, Galeem, Marx, Dracula, Master Hand, Crazy Hand, Rathalos and Ganon are considered bosses and why Giant DK, Giant Palutena and Metal Mario should not be considered bosses. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 13:09, September 7, 2019 (EDT)
- Forgot to add some more reasonings. These points are on Doc von Schmeltwick's talk page, too.
- The "so-called" bosses (e.g. Giant DK, Metal Mario) aren't treated differently by the game at all. They are treated the same as a regular playable character before the battle begins. For example, in Kirby's Classic Mode, he has to fight a Giant Yoshi in Round 2 and a Giant Wario in Round 4. Before the battles, there's nothing that indicates the opponents are going to be giant-sized until after it starts. Same with the "so-called" bosses (although in Bowser's case, the Metal-Boxed Mario spawns after the regular Mario is defeated).
- In the same point, Doc von Schmeltwick's reasoning is flawed. "They're bosses." No, they're not. If the game does not treat them as such and treats them like a playable character in a Mega or Metal Smash in Custom Smash, then they don't count as bosses under any circumstance. If every giant or metal rival in Classic Mode was a boss, then every single one fought in that mode would be on the template when in actuality, the bosses with health bars at the top of the screen should be the only ones on there in the first place.

A second console with more than two forms of backwards compatibility
Hey, me again! About the part on the GameBoy Advance about it being the only console by Nintendo with more than two instances of backwards compatibility, wouldn't the Wii and/or Wii U fall under that category, as it features the Virtual Console, and certain Wii models feature GameCube slots? I may be wrong again, but I just need some clarification. Thanks! --MikhailMCraft (talk) 14:07, September 19, 2019 (EDT)
- Backwards compatible means being able to run the physical cartridge/disc of an older system game on the newer system. The Virtual Console doesn't qualify as it runs the games through emulation, not the physical copy of the games themselves. Earlier Wii consoles are backwards compatible with GameCube games. 14:10, September 19, 2019 (EDT)
- I see. Looking here, though, I don't see anything that specifically states that it has to be a physical object that runs backwards compatibility. I may be wrong, though. --MikhailMCraft (talk) 14:20, September 19, 2019 (EDT)
- The system needs to have the specifics needed to run the game, not just emulate it. Like, the Wii's disc drive is able to read GameCube games, but the Wii U's is not (though I know it was planned). The Wii U and Switch are capable of reading the GameCube controller through the controller port extension, but not the games themselves. Whereas with Virtual Console, there is nothing in the Wii's hardware that is able to read NES, SNES, or N64 cartridges or controllers, the games are downloaded directly to the system itself. 14:27, September 19, 2019 (EDT)
- Okay, so if the GameBoy Advance can qualify as hosting two backward compatible systems, wouldn't the Nintendo 2DS then be able to qualify as well, hosting backwards compatibility for the DS as well as the DSi? --MikhailMCraft (talk) 14:36, September 19, 2019 (EDT)
- No, because, aside from the lack of 3D, the system specs are the exact same as a 3DS's because it's the same system. So it's backwards compatible with the same games. It's just a 3D-less 3DS, not a whole new generation of systems. 14:42, September 19, 2019 (EDT)
- Ohhhh, I see now! Thanks for clearing that up, I appreciate it! --MikhailMCraft (talk) 14:51, September 19, 2019 (EDT)

Consistency
What I meant by consistency is that most of the images for Mario Kart Tour have "File:MKT Icon [English Name, all one word].png" I was trying to fix that so it's easier as I'm updated the track pages. SwampyGator (talk) 19:55, October 3, 2019 (EDT)
- I didn't move Diddy Kong because there was already a file called MKT Icon DiddyKong.png, at least there was earlier in the day. It's fine for the most part, it's just easier for me because I get used to have them as one word while updating the track pages with the starred characters and such. I'll move the abbreviated ones. Would it be possible for me to make a template for the icons like the one used for buttons? SwampyGator (talk) 20:04, October 3, 2019 (EDT)

Fright Mask Spirit being a Bowser doppelgänger
I can say that I do understand for the Bowser Statues to not be a doppelgängers of Bowser I got it confused since they sometimes act alive in a way. But the shadowy spirit clone of Bowser from both the Fright Jar and Fright Mask seems kind of unfair due to the fact that a shadowy Bowser clone gets released when the items are used so I don't see a really valid reason why it doesn't qualify to be a Bowser doppelgänger even coming from just a simple item. Also I noticed in the category page for Bowser Doppelgängers there is both Belome and Bowser Clone but they have the same link and should just be one link to that page, more specifically Bowser Clone since Belome is the clone maker and a unique boss. How do you add italic links to a category page, I couldn't find a source for it in the editor. I could do the same for like let's say Cosmic Luigi for example? gamermakerguy
- Well now how am I going to name the Super Paper Mario version of "Dark Bowser's" name in Bowser's doppelganger category to not conflict with the one from Bowser's Inside Story? It's quite unorganized that Dark Mario, Dark Peach and Dark Luigi have redirect links but that version of Dark Bowser doesn't? gamermakerguy (talk)

Okay, I'd like to add this image to the Super Mario World article, but do you think it should be under the "Story" section, under the "Gallery" section, or nowhere on the article and on just Gallery:Super Mario World? Dwhitney (talk) 22:55, October 5, 2019 (EDT)

Bosses
Are the Octopus in the G&W game Octopus and the Boss Bass in the Modern version of Parachute actual bosses? The Octopus's arms can be stunned in the Modern version, but it can't be defeated. The Boss Bass lurks in the water, chasing a character who falls in, but it can't be defeated, either. I read your quote saying that a videogame boss is someone who stands in your way of a goal, which is what the Octopus does but not so much the Boss Bass. If a videogame character tries to keep you from achieving something but can't be defeated entirely, is it still a boss? Dwhitney (talk) 12:08, October 9, 2019 (EDT)
- I wouldn't consider those bosses. They aren't something you fight against, they're more of an annoyance than anything. You can't defeat them, so they aren't much of a boss, more just a regular obstacle (for the octopus) or something that doesn't really effect gameplay at all (the Boss Bass). 12:49, October 9, 2019 (EDT)
RE: Scuttlebug images
I don't know where it's from, but it's definitely not official. SM64 is such a popular game and it's so well-covered on this wiki that I doubt we have any official artwork left to find, and the image is way past the N64's graphical capabilities; look at the detail on the legs. Partners in Time enemies thing
Last I checked we had started discouraging pluralizing non-numbered enemy lists like that, namely due to it being more of a general way. Many times people have pluralized enemies in these lists where there's only one of said type of enemy, which is extremely aggravating. It's also totally unnecessary extra coding whenever piping is needed for pluralizing. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:41, October 11, 2019 (EDT)
- I agree with pluralizing being an issue when there's only one of that enemy in the level, but for these edits there weren't. Where has it been said to discourage this? 13:43, October 11, 2019 (EDT)
- Well I mean there's the whole "some anon keeps getting repeatedly banned over it" thing... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:46, October 11, 2019 (EDT)
G&WG series appearances
LinkTheLefty and I seem to have a disagreement about links. The Modern versions of certain Game & Watch games have many Toads and Yoshis, but we don't agree on whether their appearances should link to the characters themselves or their species. Manhole, Fire, and Parachute have many Toads, and Fire, Parachute, and (in a way) Chef have many Yoshis. But these games (excluding Chef) also have many Donkey Kong Jrs., which have no specific species (neither does Mario in Manhole). Because of that, because there are no different-colored Toads and Yoshis in these games, and because their appearances in the Modern games are discussed on the characters' articles themselves (which I think makes more sense), I believe their appearances should link to those articles. As for Chef, because the game starts with one Green Yoshi, I think its appearance should link to the character's article. LinkTheLefty, however, doesn't think so. To prevent us from having an edit war, please tell me your preference about this. Dwhitney (talk) 19:55, October 12, 2019 (EDT)
Because Toad's and Yoshi's appearances in those games are discussed on their articles, would it be okay to link to the characters just under "Character appearances" on the Game & Watch Gallery articles? (I'm not trying to argue with you.) Dwhitney (talk) 22:31, October 12, 2019 (EDT)
Baby Yoshis don't appear in the Modern version of Fire, so I'd like to remove that info from the Baby Yoshi article. But I'm I allowed to remove the Fire Yoshi image from the Baby Yoshi article? Dwhitney (talk) 20:37, October 30, 2019 (EDT)

Edit summaries
Why is putting long ellipses in edit summaries said to be passive-aggressive? Dwhitney (talk) 13:24, October 13, 2019 (EDT)

"Toys do not have genders"
Technically speaking, yes, but generally people will refer to a doll or action figure by the gender its character is intended to be. Besides, the minis have some amount of sentience. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:09, October 13, 2019 (EDT)

- And they do, but not without character or user input first. 19:16, October 13, 2019 (EDT)

- Correct gender terminology for sentient toys lol what is this discussion
- I suppose that makes sense, though R.O.B. is also classified as an it (though admittedly doesn't look like either gender). I'll think about it. 22:53, October 13, 2019 (EDT)

So, I am about to complete the remake of Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and I noticed that the remake doesnt have Clothing page. Since I looked and it said you deleted it before, I wanted to ask if I could create this page. One more thing.
I almost forgot. I wanted to ask one more thing.
During this year, I was creating pages for item locations in Mario and Luigi series. Yesterday, I completed the last one. I was happy to help (also because I like to have my games 100% completed) :D
The question is: The are two pages about Super Mario Odyssey, which they're only a compilations of lists (Moons and Regional Coins). I had an idea that I could make similar page, but with the item lists from Mario RPGs, so people can find it more easialy in the future.
What do you think?--Mid188 (talk) 16:22, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
- I think we might have some of those pages already, but what you thinking of? 16:26, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
So these two pages are compilations: Lists of Power Moons and Lists of regional coins. My idea is that I would make similiar page, but with lists from Mario RPGs. And maybe on that page sort it by date of release or type of item or by game.--Mid188 (talk) 16:31, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
- Why don't you make a sample in a sandbox page first so I can see what you have in mind? 16:35, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
Ok, so this is a little embarrassing, but I don't know how. I am not a native speaker, so sometimes I don't understand how to do things, can you show me how to work with this "sandbox"? --Mid188 (talk) 16:37, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
- Just make this page and do what you want with it: User:Mid188/Sandbox. Essentially, a sandbox is a term used for personal workspaces :) 16:42, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
Something like this? User:Mid188/Sandbox --Mid188 (talk) 17:08, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
- Ohh, a list of lists... Yeah, sorry, we avoid making pages like that. People can usually find the list of a specific game by looking at that game's page. Making a page just to list lists actually makes things a bit more complicated and is usually ignored. Category:Lists is also a thing. 17:11, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
Ok, I won't make it. --Mid188 (talk) 17:12, October 16, 2019 (EDT)

And they are regular bathrooms. there's no need to add that information or to point out that Nintendo may not be for gender neutral restrooms because our readers may consider that a fault on Nintendo's part. - Well, it'd be misleading to imply that they are unisex restrooms when they clearly aren't. We gives facts here. 22:11, October 16, 2019
That is not implied at all because restrooms are not fundamentally unisex. The majority of public restrooms are gendered. If anything you should clarify when restrooms are unisex. It is absolutely a fact that they are indeed restrooms and you don't need to add the extra fact that is damaging to Nintendo's reputation. --Awesomehippos (talk) 21:16, October 16, 2019 (CST)
- I don't see how saying the restrooms are divided is reputation damaging in the slightest. I can agree with the rest of what you said, though: unisex public restrooms are the oddity. Fair enough. 22:21, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
Many people believe that Nintendo's lack of represetation in games as well as not being completely inclusive of everyone in their games is bad. I personally don't agree with that but this could only further that idea. It obviously wouldn't have much of an effect on Nintendo and their sales just because of how big of a coorporation they are but some may find it offensive that the restrooms in Luigi's Mansion 3 are gendered binomially. --Awesomehippos (talk) 21:28, October 16, 2019 (CST)
Can I keep the edit or not?

Thanks :)

Kōichi Yamadera
Can you please add this voice actor to the wiki. I foudn that he voiced as the color commentator in the Japanese dub of Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 and some Pokemon; Mew for every Smash Bros game starting with Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Roles Edit Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 - Commentator (JP) Super Smash Bros Brawl - Mew Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U - Mew, Genesect Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Mew, Marshadow --Roselyn7 (talk) 21:58, October 17, 2019 (EDT)
About that revert
I only reverted that because adding a youtube reaction meme comes off as childish and really doesn't add nothing to the discussion at all. The edit was completely unnecessary considering it was the only thing he really did in that. But whatever. --CastleResearch (talk) 15:35, October 21, 2019 (EDT)
- Probably. But it's not up to you to remove it. 15:37, October 21, 2019 (EDT)
- (Shrug) I've just been waiting for an opportunity to use one of my favorite movie quotes, and a case of missing the point by a huge margin seemed like an apropos situation. I'm not taking this personally. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:43, October 21, 2019 (EDT)
My latest report
I realised after I posted that report that it was a (slightly) different IP address from one that did the same thing with the Captain Toad Treasure Tracker article a few minutes beforehand (and put it back after it was removed). Mario Sakuraba (talk)
- The other IP does fall in the same range as the one I blocked, but it's too varied to do a range block afaik. If they keep up, I'll just block them individually. 19:52, October 25, 2019 (EDT)
RE:Screen Clean
At the BJAODN, it has been added. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 13:25, October 26, 2019 (EDT)
