Super Mario 3D World page

Hello, I saw that you edited the Worlds section of the Super Mario 3D World article. How come you replaced the images for Koopa Troopa Cave and Chargin' Chuck Blockade? I was already in the process of replacing all of those images with higher quality pictures I took in Bowser's Fury. The reason why the construction template is there is because I'm not done yet. A Strollin' Stu in Super Mario Sunshine. 0blivion 17:46, August 3, 2022 (EDT)

I was going to get around to doing that and felt like I should make use of what I have, so I took emulator screenshots and uploaded those. Didn't realize you were just getting started on replacing these. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the MIME format doesn't match, since I use PNG and iirc those thumbnails were in png before they were replaced with higher resolution ones. I kept my Bowser's Fury screenshots in the .jpg format because I was previously asked not to change them to PNGs. I'd prefer being able to finish uploading my JPG images to the page for consistency's sake. A Strollin' Stu in Super Mario Sunshine. 0blivion 21:44, August 3, 2022 (EDT)
Yeah I saw, and I was going to say to not do that because it'll make reuploading earlier, but that's probably going to conflict with policy, so. Yeah, go ahead. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:15, August 3, 2022 (EDT)

Miyamoto

Its fine to keep Donkey Kong as a series Miyamoto created on his page correct? I'm trying to get through to a user that disagrees with that. Sdman213 (talk) 19:58, August 22, 2022 (EDT)

I think it's okay. We don't list Wario or Yoshi series as Miyamoto's. There can be further discussion on which components of the DK series we should be attributing to Miyamoto, as Donkey Kong Country is quite a different game and a bigger series than the original arcade games, but as a very general statement, there's little problem listing it. But unlike Pikmin, Star Fox, and Zelda, we don't have a Donkey Kong-centered wiki Mario Manga Reader (talk) 20:05, August 22, 2022 (EDT)
We do cover both Donkey Kong and Mario content due to a good overlap they have with each other but I do think it's worth emphasizing that the DK games did originate from Miyamoto and not necessarily Yoshi (though Miyamoto had heavy involvement in the Yoshi's Island series which are the main installment in the series) or Wario. Wario extermination squad

Hello. I would like to join. I don't have a userbox, but I would be happy to have one to start my tower. I found some Warios in my yard & I feel like you would like to get rid of them for me. I tried, but their farts were too much. At least I have free energy. Weird. Wario can violate the laws of conservation of energy & matter. I have some Waluigis in my yard as well, if you take those as well as Warios. Thank you in advance.SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) 13:56, February 21, 2023 (CST)

Sure. Is... there already a userbox concerning the Wario Extermination Squad? If not, silly me, I should've prepped one years ago! Anyway, the Warios are gone. The promise of free money that just so happens to be in an exhibit of hungry hippos did the trick. As for Waluigi, I'll post updates when THAT spidery menace will be gone, but it shouldn't take long. Thanks for calling up Wario extermination! Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:16, February 21, 2023 (EST)

I know how it is, I ate raw garlic before and I couldn't get the sensation away from my mouth for several days. Luckily, I've had this experience before. Just wipe yourself with Repel Gel to spare the embarrassment for a few days. And make sure you massage it reallllll good. Sandboxes

I saw some other users have sandbox pages. Is it okay for me to have my own too? The Smash Brothers lists set a precedent and inspired me to think about how third-party content lists would look, like for example Sonic, while at the same time not proposing it (at least not so early on) but rather giving users an idea on how the pages would look. But it's a delicate situation because to stay a super wiki (we're past Mario, now we're SUPER Mario), we need a super lot of articles, so making list pages would be for very limited circumstances. It's a complicated matter. CoolNintendo (talk) 14:17, June 27, 2023 (EDT)

Sure, you can have your own sandbox page. It's a good space to use if you plan on making consecutive edits to a big page, especially when you plan on making major contributions to it later and don't feel it's ready for other users to edit yet. User sandbox pages are also great places to test templates too. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:13, June 27, 2023 (EDT)

It's not a licensed toy. Something about blocking access on mobile, which is weird cause any links I have leading to my talk page leads right to my talk page and not to any of the archives I have set up. I reviewed the userspace policy and I'm not seeing violations. You can have multiple subpages as long as they're relevant to MarioWikis goals. You have sandbox pages and it would be counterproductive if the rules block you from doing this (and so that rule shouldn't have been there if it was an existing one). I myself have a draft and a signature page, and there are likely users who made multiple subpages on their userspace to test templates and whatnot. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. Thanks. I also went over everything and I don't think I'm violating anything. The only thing I thought of was when I moved my talk page content to my third archive and I'm not sure if something went wrong there, but as far as I'm concerned, nothing did. Talk page links lead to my normal talk page and I'm certain my archive pages aren't an issue either. In any case, thanks for the help! Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. "The Last Spark Hunter" Feature nomination past deadline

Back in July I nominated The Last Spark Hunter to become a Featured Article. It has been over a week since the deadline passed with no changes happening since. Do you know what happens now? Because I don't. Sorry I'm asking you about this; I don't know who to tell this to, plus you left comments on the Feature Page, and you're currently active on the Mario Wiki. link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks September 9, 2023 8:32 PM (EST)

Oh I remember now. I was going to relay to other users on Discord on helping deal with this, since I do have a schedule and can't immediately commit time to it. Technically the nomination is considered to have failed and you have to renominate it, but on the other hand, it does not seem fair to just cancel it for a lack of edits and whatnot and just wait a month again and then renominate with minimal changes (since there's no serious complaint on the thing). I'm going to probably bring up discussion on how to proceed. The rule was defintely intended to prevent stalemates, but probably wasn't meant to cover just slower activity in the nomination page (years ago, when the rule was added, it was more normal to see like 20+ votes on these nominations and plenty of comments; the Luigi nomination for instance had 50+ votes and was basically stalemated). Pages

Hi, I'm just removing some info on a few pages because it was not only too technical for the reader base here but also because a lot didn't have to do with Super Mario. I just hope you didn't think I was vandalizing. Super Game Gear (talk) 14:08, October 15, 2023 (EDT)

Mario
I don't think it's vandalism at all, since you did explain your edits in the edit summary. Usually, if people are going to revert edits like yours, our wiki strongly recommends everyone should assume good faith and explain why they undid it. If you ever have your edits disputed, do explain your edits in the associated talk pages of the articles you're editing. I haven't seen any edit disputes yet, but I do encourage you to make edits you believe are improvements, even major ones, and don't worry about feeling like you're vandalizing, because you're not. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 14:14, October 15, 2023 (EDT)
Also, to me when they talk about Super Mario games starring different protagonists as like Wario or Yoshi games, it feels like it complicates matters, so that's why I said Super Mario game gallery if that's okay. Super Game Gear (talk) 14:20, October 15, 2023 (EDT)
I redid the Nintendo Monopoly page. The previous revision had these awful-looking tables, and I felt that it had to go. I don't think it's a set rule yet but the List of SSB fighter page names are so long and hard to remember that instead of deciding to adjust Samus's link to that page, I instead linked it to Metroid wiki. I just want to make sure I wasn't breaking a rule there either. Super Game Gear (talk) 15:52, October 15, 2023 (EDT)
Yeah, a lot of these tables are done suboptimally on the wiki. The current table in that page isn't also ideal. I'm not fond of colspan and rowspan in the middle of tables most of the time. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:02, October 15, 2023 (EDT)
Okay so I'm still reworking some of the pages. I noticed the Virtual Boy one had considerably more information about the console (including prototypes) over the Super Mario games for it. May I ask, what's your opinion on small sections in articles? There's small sections of Super Mario appearances of Virtual Boy that have only one or two sentences and it's kind of visually annoying when theres subsections with too little sentences or information. Like I'm not discouraging the use of paragraphs but I don't like to see headers packed so closely together, although I don't think there's any hard rule on it. Super Game Gear (talk) 15:06, October 16, 2023 (EDT)
Yeah, it might be a better idea to summarize the sections. If the Virtual Boy appears in three Wario games, for instance, make a paragraph detailing the appearance rather than three one-sentence sections, kind of like how History of Mario deals with the WarioWare cameos in a paragraph rather than broken into sections. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 21:30, October 16, 2023 (EDT)

Tables

Some articles are still over the size limit as outlined in MarioWiki:Article size (I believe that's why the Mario, Yoshi, Wario articles got split)? For example, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. In its Objects section i was inspired by the Famicom Grand Prix article to try and sort the stuff by columns but the only problem is that it not only add more bytes to the page size but also that it takes longer to do all those table conversions. the edit was kind of experimental but i think it was bothersome moving my eyes between squished rows, probably for the same reason as reading between sections that are too big. what would be a good solution? Super Game Gear (talk) 11:49, October 17, 2023 (EDT)

If we need to shorten the page, I think the easiest candidates are those enemy and enemy tables. As for the nested tables, I don't recommend using those if a table closer to a list suffices. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:36, October 17, 2023 (EDT)
Yeah, it's because of the bestiary pages, correct? Nested tables do seem redundant, but I was going for the approach of organizing the information by columns like I've seen in some of the other game articles like Famicom GP. This makes me wonder if some sort of precedent can be set. Super Game Gear (talk) 18:42, October 17, 2023 (EDT)

Wondering

Hey, so as someone who'll be checking out the game later than sooner, quick question: what are Shovas and Gnawsher's internal names? They might just be romanizations, but if they're earlier names, that may help determine if they were meant to be somewhere within the Bros./Chomps.
Unrelated: something I've noticed is that some categories tend to "double-up". Like, for example, Category:Sonic the Hedgehog series is a subcategory of Category:Third-party characters. That almost makes sense, except not everything in the former is a character, and the ones that are already have the latter listed. So wouldn't it just make sense to remove the subcategory? LinkTheLefty (talk) 08:23, October 18, 2023 (EDT)

Shova's internal name is "Osukun" at least from the model archive file, and I found that the Gnawsher creature is "Taberukun", probably reference to 食べる (verb of eat). Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:39, October 18, 2023 (EDT)
As for categories, Sonic should be categorized only as "Category:Sonic the Hedgehog series", so yeah remove the instance of Category:Third-party characters. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:41, October 18, 2023 (EDT)

Super Smash Bros.

As is known here, Super Smash Bros. is a gray area, and there's still remaining Smash Bros. coverage on some of the remaining non-Super Mario characters that have appeared in some Super Mario games. If you check the Knuckles article, you'll see that I've reorganized the Super Smash Bros. series (revision) so that it links to the SmashWiki page and organizes him by role rather than game-specific appearances, but this one was easier to do because Knuckles is not a playable fighter in the game. I still have my reserved doubts about whether the content should be there to begin with, but hopefully this helps the SmashWiki page stand out more. Super Game Gear (talk) 10:13, October 28, 2023 (EDT)

It might take a proposal to reorganize these pages, but I do probably recommend down the line that we prioritize Mario & Sonic and other information from more Mario-involved crossovers over Super Smash Bros. (which probably means we eventually do away with the trophies and spirits that do take undue prominence in many of these pages) Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. Sections

Samus, using her B attack in Super Smash Bros.

I wanted to ask something else. Is there any rule about condensing sections? I'll go over a bit of my experiences and questions below:

If you check the history of the Lava page, me another editor briefly talked back and forth in the summaries about how the article would be best presented. But then I think your History of Mario article (the WarioWare section) showed everything under one section (something you pointed out to me in an earlier section). What I will say is that I definitely don't like when I see sections where two following ones just say like "has the same role in the first game" as it feels redundant to say it twice (like if something in Yoshi's Island games are the same in all three games). As for the Lava article, I don't really know what Nintendo officially considers Yoshi or Wario games, or rather Super Mario games that have them as the mascot, which would mean something else, so I wanted to for the safe route.

However, when editing the Gooble article, someone said it works better without a history section because it's only one appearance and a mention. Plungelos are similar in this regard, so I felt that I'd match it with the Gooble article.

Lemguins only have two game appearances. If you check the article's history, originally I got rid of the History section, but then I added it back because I was uncertain how some of the other editors would feel, though it is true that not everyone agrees on everything while editing. However, the Lemguin article does need manga information, so I'd think two game appearances and manga appearance would definitely mean a History section is needed. Screen size is relative, but if all the information can be read on a single screen without having to scroll (as on the Lemguin article), having a History section seems unnecessary. Super Game Gear (talk) 12:39, November 3, 2023 (EDT)

No, there's no hard and fast rule. If you think information is organized better through a section merge, then go for it.
I merged pretty much Mario's Mario Party appearances due to repetitive information and plot details not really concerning Mario directly. The same goes for the WarioWare section because one paragraph is better organized than tons of one-liners of minor cameos This also used to be the case for Mario's Mario Kart appearances until I split it again to focus more on Mario-related content of the games rather than Mario's indivudual role. Individual discretion allowed here, and if someone disagrees with how an article is organized, they'll probably adjust it to how they see it and if you don't like it, discuss with them. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 13:50, November 4, 2023 (EDT)
Yeah, it's the one-liner sentence sections that bother me, and there's still not an easy solution in circumstances where there's two one- or two-liner sub-sections between larger sub-sections with more paragraphs because of that thing having larger contribution to the game's plot. I stated in a lava edit summary that i tried the tabber template to avoid 5 equal-sign headings. However, it didn't work out as I had hoped, and I realize it was specifically intended for use in infoboxes, not article text, which would've definitely gotten out of hand if that were allowed. Super Game Gear (talk) 14:17, November 4, 2023 (EDT)
The issue is probably the sections of "Wario franchise" and "Donkey Kong franchise" and whatnot. We may have to just simply merge with the Mario stuff so we have an extra header to spare. After all, we don't have Wario franchise subheaders in Mario's history. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:00, November 4, 2023 (EDT)
I hear the Yoshi platforming games are more complicated because the Yoshi's Island-branded games are very similar to the standard Yoshi platforming games. Super Game Gear (talk) 15:11, November 4, 2023 (EDT)
It's probably better to just sort like we do with the major character history pages, have Super Mario series, then Wario Land, then Mario Party, then WarioWare, etc rather than try to delineate between the umbrella series. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:13, November 4, 2023 (EDT)
What about Yoshi's Woolly World and Yoshi's Crafted World? Those unfortunately don't have their own Yoshi's World series, despite a shared similarity in the titles. Super Game Gear (talk) 15:15, November 4, 2023 (EDT)
Depends on the headers remaining. Either they get their own section (which would look disjoint, I get it) or they're grouped under the Yoshi series if you can squeeze all Yoshi games under there comfortably. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:16, November 4, 2023 (EDT)
I cannot think of any examples at the moment, but it would probably look the most disjoint if there's a large article on something with like 75+ appearances and then there's three equal-sign headings of Yoshi (puzzle game), Yoshi's Cookie, Tetris Attack, Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's Woolly World, and Yoshi's Crafted World, each having their own sections. I was gonna post about the same subject, but since someone already praised you for it, imma just do it here. I really like the work you put into them. (also side question: This wiki now allows fan-renders?) --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:51, November 4, 2023 (EDT)
Thanks! I'm not sure what the extent of fan renders are, but my reasoning was, we already allow t-posed renders, which are already technically fan renders to begin with (just with basic camera work and lighting). But I applied an official animation file to give it a more natural pose (so there's no often-stilted fan posing that usually gives it away) and whatnot and my involvement in the work is mostly camera angling and lighting. I also applied a subdivision to the model but the effect is minor, it just smooths out the shape slightly. I don't think we should be rendering out custom poses but if you can find a model, apply an official animation to it, get a decent angle, get some good lighting, I think it's fine and it's better than a t-posed model, since an animated model tells you more about the subject than a bind pose one.
Here are some renders by me by the way

Level pages

So I realized that some of the level pages have an excessive number of tables. If you'd like to take a look, I redid the Jungle Hijinxs page, and took inspiration from the Smiley Flower locations on some of the Yoshi's New Island pages. Super Game Gear (talk) 17:19, November 6, 2023 (EST)

MediaWiki galleries are desiged to suit images and need to be flexible to various screen widths, which means they could stretch over long horizontal distances on wider screens. Captions are supposed to complement these images, but don't quite form the focus of a gallery; textual information should otherwise be uniformly conveyed and organized in a vertically-flowing manner, and that's best done through any other MediaWiki function designed around that need, such as a table. I fail to see how the tables on that page are excessive; the same thing can be said about the gallery format, which additionally does a less-than-ideal job at handling relatively great amounts of text. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 17:44, November 6, 2023 (EST)
IMO tables are better suited for great amount of information that galleries would compress. However, the table isn't best suited for simpler lists. Rule of thumb: if a list or gallery is sufficient to convey information, it's preferred over a table. Advantages include much more straightforward code to construct the information, and the information is easier to edit.. A gallery is much better suited for enemy counts, item counts, and KONG letters since the information is relatively straightforward. The final part of the page should probably be converted to prose; the bonus levels section has no reason to be in a gallery when prose with an accompanying screenshot and separating <br clear=all> appear sufficient. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:54, November 6, 2023 (EST)
Would it be okay to restore the older revision, but with the Bonus Levels made into prose? Super Game Gear (talk) 17:58, November 6, 2023 (EST)

I decided to try something on the Bramble Scramble (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest) article, seeing as it's featured, where I converted the enemies, items, and objects (which I separated from items) into a gallery, but as I clarified in the summary, I left the tables with descriptions, like Bonus Area, because I think that's where the disagreement occurred. The items are all together, whether KONG, required, or regular items, because they had previously been scattered. "Secrets," which had previously been the heading, is too subjective of a term. Super Game Gear (talk) 12:33, November 24, 2023 (EST)
Yeah, the galleries look better. The tables should be turned into a paragraph or a list, and the accompanying images be part of another gallery. The key items, including KONG letters, should be a list. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 14:58, November 24, 2023 (EST)

I didn't reply because I'm mostly in agreement with LGM on this, though I still prefer the table approach with text-heavy content, like Bonus Area and DK Coin information, albeit only when there are screenshots to accompany each entry. In Bramble Scramble's case, not all such content (i.e. the KONG letters) has accompanying screenshots, so the way Game Gear handled that page is the best it can be for the time being. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 14:36, November 29, 2023 (EST)

Daisy Images

continued from User_talk:TimonLeslieBerkowitz#Daisy_pngs

I got the images from a twitter thread that pointed out pretty plainly that they were cropped from the same video sourced when I uplaoded them. I don't personally see any alterations outside of the fact they were cropped out of the background of the video. I didn't do the original cropping or editing, but I'm aware the MarioWiki is filled with artwork not available in its original quality that has taken the same steps to make it more presentable. I think whatever changes were made must've been to accomadte for the fact it isn't in an original quality. Whatever alterations are present seem to me to have been done in an effort to provide it in a form more accurate to the original intention. It was also properly tagged with needing the original quality still, so anyone looking at it would know it wasn't a full representation of the uncomprimised original which remains unavailable. I think it should be obvious my uploading of these was done in good faith, and I don't even think anyone would've had a problem with this art had someone else uploaded it. I didn't do anything to this art, but I find the things you've pointed out that whoever cropped it must've done were again to present it as it was intended to be seen and shouldn't be getting scrutinized like this. This also has nothing to do with when I uplaoded previous artwork without a source because these were very openly sourced and do not appear to be tampered with in the degree that is being suggested. I won't bother trying to provide the wiki with new content in this regard because I don't care to carry the burden of unjustified scrutiny and I'm sure it would've ended up on here at some point without such ridiculous levels of policing as a ton of the artwork already on here has. TimonLeslieBerkowitz (talk) 16:17, November 22, 2023 (EST)

Twitter/X is not a reliable site to be getting apparent official images due to its high prevalence of misinformation on there, hence why I advise great caution getting any assets from that site that isn't directly from an official account (which can be even more difficult to ascertain because of how easily impersonated accounts are). As I've explained, the image you uploaded is not merely cropped; the colors were changed (her hair is noticeably darker, her shadows are darker, her dress is more saturated; it looks like a histogram change) and there's visible sharpening around the eyes. The scale of the cropped image is also higher scale but still low-resolution. I also noticed a bit a of a squiggle at the hem of the dress which also suggests a paintover. Either way, the image is tampered with, and we recommend to find the original source of the image and get the image from this source rather than any content on Twitter/X besides the official handles. You also need to demonstrate how the Daisy image from the video itself requires the edits prior to uploading. I do not believe there is enough evidence that the coloration in the original video is a mistake. We have dealt with edited Daisy renders for quite some time on this wiki, such as this case (see edit history) where the uploader ALSO edited Daisy's face including but not limited to thinning her jaws (edit; actual render), and we don't want to be a host to these tampered images that are easily mistaken for official art, hence some editors bring up concerns about tampered renders and vector art and whatnot. History of Wario

I wanted to say some things about the History of Wario article (or any History pages, for that matter). Even though it's split, History of Wario is still over the article size limit (100,000 bytes), as well as History of Mario. For one, I removed the Yoshi's Island DS section, because it's already covered in the background, and I got rid of the Subspace Emissary subheading. What are some other ways to improve the article? Do the history pages need to be split again? Super Game Gear (talk) 09:16, November 25, 2023 (EST)

In the future we will look at other candidates (Super Mario series may need another split in Mario's case) but I want to dust around this to settle first. Deletion request

Hi Mario! Sorry to bother you, but can you please delete these two images I uploaded? I already asked BBQ Turtle this message on their talk page, but I don't think they got it. Would it be okay for me to delete that message?

Anyway, the images I need deleted are File:MLPFIM Trixie.jpg and File:SMRPG Golden Belome statue.jpg. The first one is a personal image that I accidentally uploaded in JPEG format. I need that deleted so I can upload the image in PNG format for transparency. The second image is a duplicate image of the Golden Belome statue that I had no idea was already uploaded. Item tables

What's your opinion on item tables? I know you said you like to use tables in minimal circumstances as possible, which I agree with. On the Koopa Cruiser article, I converted the items table to list form. Come to think of it, I could maybe readd the sprites, but the specific locations were why I didn't do gallery form like with the Donkey Kong level pages. Super Game Gear (talk) 12:59, November 28, 2023 (EST)

I think a table works fine here but I'd personally design tables in a way to avoid colspans/rowspans in the middle of the table all together IMO. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 01:18, November 29, 2023 (EST)

1-Up DX

Good point made about tabber. I think I only added it because the images were already all in the infobox. I settled for the most recent sprite in the infobox and put the rest in a gallery. Also, how do you feel about the "List of appearances" section? Do you like it more as a bullet list or as a table? Since the 1-Up DX is an item in all of its appearance, a "Role" colum in the table would be redundant, so I settled upon a bullet list. Super Game Gear (talk) 14:09, November 29, 2023 (EST)

We usually put list of appearances in a table but we usually don't use appearance tables for smaller articles and the information will be redundant mostly anyway (as you said). I suppose list works fine. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:02, November 29, 2023 (EST)
I think a List of appearances section would especially benefit cases where a subject has incredibly similar roles throughout the series. For example, the Diamond page, the main role as "collectible items" were consistent in every Wario Land games, and I think it could all fit together (especially if the subsections previously had like only one or two sentences). For the Big Fuzzy page, instead of listing "this thing acts the same as before" in every subsection of the Super Mario series, rather only name it once and list their individual level appearances. The "List of appearances" will fill in the void when the table of contents used to provide the benefit of subsections. I decided not to go for table, but rather clarify Fuzzies as enemies in the New Super Mario Bros. games and as obstacles in the Mario Party games. Question about a watch.

When I got kidnapped(yes, I got back, the details are on my talk page), I had(and still have as of now) a watch that later I found out was made by you, your previous Mariosonas, Bazooka Mario and LeftyGreenMario, and the main universe version of Mario(the plumber, not you), and it, for some reason, contains "everything". What's the deal with that? SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) 17:05, December 1, 2023 (CST)

Everything? It must be just my personal belongings that exist on this wiki. Yes it's all digital so I had to mark it with "everything". Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:20, December 1, 2023 (EST)

Ah, they're roommates. We kind of try to live our lives on a lot and pay the bills every now and then. Bazooka Mario is a veteran, knows his bombs and all by the way. It's been a bit, but you know those games, consoles, timeline charts, etc. that were in the same place that I was when I was kidnapped? Somehow they are with me. A Free Splounder

Congratulations! You've just won a free Splounder! You have 2 choices: Either you keep it as a pet, or use it as an ingredient for your next dinner. What would you do? (Oh, and btw, this was on behalf of Wario, who was casually fishing in Donut Plains) WarioMK64 win.png --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 01:45, December 2, 2023 (EST)

A Splounder from Super Mario 3D World.
A fish, of which an I.P (which was me) asked for a source for its name, all those years back.
I would never eat that for dinner! Pet it is. I'd definitely save this FROM Wario, it doesn't know better about WHO fished it up after all. Can it talk? Boy, I hope it talks. And speaking of talking I did respond to you in that talk page it means! Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 03:04, December 2, 2023 (EST)

By the way, Wario wasn't the only one to have proposed "dinner" as an option for the helpless fish's fate. Wendy and guest star Usapyon agreed on this too! Thankfully enough, me and my Yoshi clan took care of them. While they mostly took "care" of Wario, i went for Wendy and Usapyon (emphasis on Usapyon) out of pure spite. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 05:33, December 2, 2023 (EST)

Oh, the other Yoshies somehow managed to strap Wario to a tree, and repeatedly beat him with a bat until his grown-ass cried for mommy XD. As for me, i don't wanna mention what i did to Wendy, but i'll say, i was incensed beyond belief while taking care of Usapyon. Although the "eating the Splounder" part did contribute to it, please read the reasons of my hatred of this bunny on FOR2007's talk page. You probably won't take me seriously, but here. Model/render request

Hi there! I'm a big fan of your work here, especially the custom renders you've done! I have a request that I thought might be in your wheelhouse, if you are interested and whenever you might have time, involving Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Being totally unfamiliar with your process for ripping in-game models/renders (really just the process in general), I'm not sure if the tools that you use are applicable for that game or not, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask!

The Rocky Wrenches in MK8D (specifically, the ones that appear in Tour Rome Avanti) have a model that seems to be brand new and, for the first time since NSMBW, actually resembles the original design from Mario 3. They've got the long white claws, the pointy snout, and even the black shell (I'm kind of obsessed if you couldn't tell lol)! The problem is, it's really hard to get all these distinct features across via in-game screenshot, especially because Rome has dark lighting and the RWs are only fully visible for a couple seconds at a time. I thought a clean render of the model would, if nothing else, make for a great addition to the gallery section of Rocky Wrench's page, so that these adjustments from the standard modern design made can be better documented on the wiki! I have... no idea how to access that, but I thought, with your previous work on the wiki, you might be able to get one.

Sincere apologies if this comes off as rude, and feel free to ignore if this isn't something you are interested in working on! Or, if you know of any other wiki members/staff who might be interested in this, please let me know. Thank you for your time :) User:Okapi 04:48, December 4, 2023 (EST)

Mario in Club Nintendo Classic.
Hello, thank you for your positive comment, it's very kind of you. Yes, Switch Toolbox, the program used for extracting Super Mario Bros. Wonder files, is more than capable of extracting files from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (for the record I have also extracted model and texture assets from Super Mario Odyssey, New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, Super Mario Party, Mario Party Superstars, and Mario Tennis Aces, and Super Mario 3D World: Bowser's Fury. I haven't extracted from Super Rush yet, but it should be able to. Mario & Sonic Tokyo 2020 can also be extracted, but you need decompile scripts for Sonic games to a useable format. I have also used it to extract Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash too (and I'm sure there are others I haven't touched on). Super Smash Bros. Ultimate afaik requires other means of extraction. I'm not sure about the other games like Luigi's Mansion 3 and Battle League, either I haven't tried to extract it or other people have mixed results (for instance Luigi's Mansion 3 has a broken rig afaik and Battle League has gray textures people weren't figuring out what to do with at the time, but this may be old news). Yes, I expect the files for Rocky Wrench are able to be extracted with a rig and with useable textures and an animation. There are detailed guides on how to extract files actually and they just require reading instructions carefully.
My only issue right now is that the models are part of an update which I haven't gotten around to installing on my computer (I generally just find these online these days because it's more convenient than updating files and dumping them onto an SD card) but once I do I'll get back. My other issue is that I need to continue rendering enemy images from Super Mario Bros. Wonder; I've done a pause on it due to people bringing up questions on the legitimacy on having these images on the wiki (they can be easily mistaken for official art) and I believe we since have a green light on them. If I take too long on the files you can also try to see if Rodmjorgeh (talk), who rendered a lovely Torpedo Ted (image), is active and message them on this matter.
Thank you, and take care! 💖 Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 20:22, December 4, 2023 (EST)

I recommend not relying too much on simple quantity of the article and instead figuring out if the current page is so big it's impacting usability the way Mario and Bowser's pages were. Try to cut down the article first, such as reducing the amount of images, and try to see if the resulting split page is substantial (Mario's and Bowser's were, it might not be the case for Toad (species). Currently, you've been doing some work on the BJAODN pages. VB question

I was issued a reminder on my talk page for removing a section on the Virtual Boy article largely unrelated to Super Mario (the production section) and was told that not having it would be "unprofessional." I realize the graphics and commercial failure has some connection to Super Mario, but for detailed technical history on Virtual Boy, I'd more expect to read about it on Wikipedia or NintendoWiki. What's your opinion on having the section? Super Game Gear (talk) 18:29, December 15, 2023 (EST)

I'm not sure if a reminder was apt but when it doubt, do bring up major changes you're willing to make on the article talk page. Here[5] should've been the cue to take it to either the talk page of the article or with the user that's disputing your edits. The content you're removing wasn't too off-topicy by being excessively detailed IMO so it's fine if it stays. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! Mario Party gone wrong

Remember the time i gave you a free Splounder? Well, this isn't the first time where the Yoshi clan had to reason with Wario. I can't help but recount the instance where he mentioned a specific November challenge in front of a younger Yoshi: CHECK IT OUT YOURSELF!The older Yoshi was clearly not having it, but Wario reacted with his usual dismissive attitude. Hell, we had to tell the young Yoshi that it was "a game where you can't eat peanuts during a whole month" to salvage the situation... After the game ended, the Yoshi clan had a "friendly" conversation with Wario about the situation. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 11:52, December 29, 2023 (EST)

I had no idea Wario also knew what "No Nut November" was. Or any Mario character for that matter. I don't think such a concept would exist in the universe. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 00:44, January 2, 2024 (EST)

number of images in article sections

Hello, I remember you took away some images in the Goomba article due to an overabundance of them, and it made me think of a precedent. When scrolling down, I feel the Squawks article has a few images too many, so if I spot an overabundance of images, am I allowed to remove them (and relocate to gallery)? I go by the idea of: 1) does the image show or compare any prominent difference than seen earlier? and 2) is it focused on the subject? On Squawks article, the Donkey Kong Country: Rumble in the Jungle image focuses on three of the Kongs and Squawks, not Squawks solely whilst the Club Nintendo comic illustrates a particular point of him meeting the Kongs. The DKC3 screenshot has a similar purpose as the DKC2 screenshot, just in a different level setting. One could say he's not carrying Diddy and Dixie, but that's also possible in the original DKC2. Then in the DKC Returns section, it shows Squawks' artwork for said game, something that's already done within the infobox, just with a different artwork. Super Game Gear (talk) 14:35, January 2, 2024 (EST)

I don't think the article has an awful ton of images to the point I'd remove some. I would probably change or remove the art of Squawks holding a lantern but only because the infobox leaves little room for it. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. Luigi in the Mario lookalikes category

MeleeSamus.jpg

It was pretty much agreed upon in my proposal that Luigi, Wario and Waluigi shouldn't include the respective lookalikes categories, so I would like to remove it from Luigi's article again. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 06:21, January 3, 2024 (EST)

I'd claim that Luigi would technically qualify in the proposal's provisions,[6] that the categories should concern "[...]solely on subjects that are actual copies or clones of these characters such as Dark Bowser or Dreamy Mario." Luigi started out as a clone, albeit a named clone, but from a gameplay perspective, a clone for multiplayer. I'm reviewing what's currently in Category:Mario lookalikes. He could be in a similar vein as Prince Mushroomkhamen, where both are, for all intents and purposes, a kind of Mario, but were given names to distinguish themselves. Same goes for Giuseppe, who isn't a cloned/copied Mario and doesn't even exactly look like Mario, just a resemblance to Jumpman. The proposal seems currently in effect, but if not I think you either remove some of these different characters that "happen" to look like Mario, limit them to just direct copies and clones such as Shadow Mario, Cosmic Mario, Metal Mario, and Dreamy Mario, or you include Luigi. It's otherwise not entirely clear to me why Giuseppe but not Luigi, but perhaps there's a good reason. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 20:39, January 3, 2024 (EST)
I do think "second-player palette swap who later diverged into his own character that can't really be considered a lookalike nowadays" and "reference to Mario's original design who talks with Mario's original game voice" are apples and oranges, but if we do exclude Giuseppe, we should exclude Red and Green as well. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 21:59, January 3, 2024 (EST)
I know Luigi in general I wouldn't consider to be a Mario lookalike but in the context of his early appearances, he seems to qualify? If the newer games didn't exist, if Luigi hadn't developed into his own character, if Luigi remained a Green Mario in promotional material, he'd probably be in this category. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 13:51, January 6, 2024 (EST)
That's a good point, but that's not the reality we're living in. If we're counting Luigi as a lookalike based on only some of his appearances, I don't think he should be in the category at all. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 14:33, January 6, 2024 (EST)
As a wiki, though, we do appear to take past categorization into consideration. It's why Birdo is classified as a "bird" despite no modern media stating so, Mario was categorized as a villain despite his role being in even less games (before the category was deleted) than Luigi clonery (Mario's categorized under "king" and "pirate" too), or why the Rocky Wrench is a, uh, well, a Koopa and a Mole uh, well... and we got into debate over that. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:58, January 6, 2024 (EST)
Ah, guess I was thinking too much from Camwoodstock's opinion and Swallow's recent redefinition of the elemental creature categories... :P I know it sounds ridiculous to have a proposal on whether or not a single article should be included in a single category, but it might be something to consider. Japanese game covers

I was disappointed that the proposer canceled the proposal about showing more than one game cover in the game infobox templates. I saw someone say they think it could be narrowed to Japanese game cover, which makes sense since Super Mario is a Japanese franchise. I added in Famicom game cover in Super Mario Bros. (without tabber because that conflicts with the proposal) and explained myself in the edit summary. I hadn't seen any opposition to my decision. Was this okay? I was given an informal reminder that I was changing too much, so I hope this wasn't a violation of that. It's hard to know the fine line between what's changing too much and what isn't, but I'm assuming it's applying a change on a multitude of articles in a set. Super Game Gear (talk) 13:00, January 5, 2024 (EST)

No. We have to be selective in the game infobox templates. You don't need to add more. And as a bonus, Rosalina blew up the entire Wario's Gold Mine track with a superpowered Blue Shell so that no more Warios could get here until they rebuild the course (if they have enough brainpower to do so). In any case, the Warios won't be able to come back for a while, which was the goal. -- Artwork of Rosalina used for her amiibo. Love the username

I hadn't said this yet, but I really like your username. It has a simple charm to it and directly states the main character of the Super Mario franchise: Mario himself. I did go by it several years ago, but this one is like an extended April Fools joke from 2023, but I don't really want to change it even after a year of waiting. Anyhow I think it's amusing that Mario's a sysop on MarioWiki. It's like Master Hand being a sysop on SmashWiki or Kirby being a sysop on WiKirby. Music score

Hello, Mario. I am playing Super Princess Peach and I saw there is no article for a music score. If you do not mind an article being created, what name do you think should be the official article name? Two names are Music score (Super Princess Peach) and Score (Super Princess Peach). I referenced from two quotes: Perry states "Did you know that if you collect a lot of music scores, you'll get more and more members? Yeah!", and after collecting a music score, the game refers to it as a score. Derekblue1(talk)Daisy Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga-styled sprite 06:38, January 15, 2024 (EST)

I think "music score" is more descriptive. Simply saying "Score" suggests points and whatnot. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 21:53, January 15, 2024 (EST)

Status

Okay, I've been working on quite a number of developments on the wiki lately.

For one, I'm making effort to get rid of the tabber template outside of the approved cases. I've just finished removing it from all of the DKC levels.

Secondly, I've been creating various templates to display the data more conveniently. The List of Mario profiles and statistics page, for instance, had a lot of outdated markup, particularly in the Baseball and Smash Bros. sections. Still has to be sorted by order. I've also created template for conveniently displaying trophy data around a few Super Smash Bros. games. I hated the red and light blue backgrounds all over the Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U tables, and thankfully they're now gone.

Third, a few of the templates I made invoke the use of two languages, particularly {{DK64 German website character}} (for the five playable Kongs in DK64 only) and {{PBMCD profile}} (for links in Perfect Edition of the Great Mario Character Encyclopedia).

Fourth, the {{SMG2 boss}} template inspired me to start making quick reference templates for bosses in other games. Like {{DK boss}}, for example. Allows for quick reference, like how many hits the boss takes, which boss comes next in sequential order, and a few parameters that wouldn't fit into {{character infobox}}, like boss level name and world name. I think in general, templates like these could help with issues, like I think a Mario 64 location one needs to made to resolve issues with sections like this: Bob-omb Battlefield#Statistics_from_Super_Mario_64. Super Mario RPG (talk) 14:59, January 20, 2024 (EST)

Seems like you're all over the place. I recommend you focus on a particular area in case you run across disagreements. For instance, your efforts on tabber have been comprised of you and others undoing your work, so you want to avoid committing to big changes that you don't know if the community necessarily agrees to. Good point, which is why I put a list of them on my user page to help me keep track. I finished the DK64 German website character profiles for the five Kongs, for example. Super Mario RPG (talk) 11:26, January 23, 2024 (EST)

another template idea

First of all, thank you to you and the staff team for lowering the warning tier. Secondly, may I create a consistent wikitable template for the "List of appearances" sections? It's on many articles, and I've seen some inconsistencies like column width, some columns titled "Release date," others saying something like "Year of release." Then some say "Summary" whilst other column equivalents say "Role." Super Mario RPG (talk) 15:42, February 9, 2024 (EST)

It's probably beneficial to do that. We do need to standardize the wikitable template. I've personally followed Wiggler#List_of_appearances. That being said, I'm not sure if we need to list the format the appearance is on. Also, we probably will need to consider appearances in other media, such as cartoons, movies, etc.. While it's a video game centric wiki, we probably need to include appearances on Mario media (we probably should leave out cameos outside of MarioWiki coverage, that'll easily clutter the table). Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:46, February 9, 2024 (EST)
I was considering separate templates to fulfill such a purpose. I didn't think one could fully integrate the functionality of the Cite template into a single one, for instance, but they managed to prove it's possible (really glad we have that template now, since I wanted professional citation format for a while now). The other media appearances one is tough, and such a section hasn't been standardized. I'm thinking a format like this if a "List of appearances" section has more media:
==List of appearances==
===Video games===

===Television and films===

===Manga===

Super Mario RPG (talk) 15:56, February 9, 2024 (EST)

Okay, I've made {{appearances list}}. I decided to add an automatic number parameter since I saw it on Waluigi's List of appearances section. Super Mario RPG (talk) 13:06, February 10, 2024 (EST)

Cluckboom and Bone Twister

This may say more about how I personally interpret these things than anything concrete, but Cluckbooms are called "Bomb Coo Coo" in Japan, whereas Plurps are called "Coo Coo". Due to (what appears to me to be) a derived name, their similar designs, their similar behaviors, and the fact that the teams for Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy included a lot of the same people, my interpretation is that Cluckbooms are a type of Plurp, not just a similar-looking or related enemy. I think Galaxy has more derived elements from Sunshine than are widely understood, so I thought it was worth mentioning this relationship on the Cluckboom's description on the Super Mario Galaxy page. I have a similar (but admittedly weaker) impression of Bone Twisters. If not a direct type, than I think those guys are at least suppose to be related to Sunshine's Wind Spirits. They have similar Japanese names ("Wind-kun" for Wind Spirits, and "Sand Wind-kun" for Bone Twisters) and they are both whirlwinds with big silly eyes. – Nintendo101 (talk) 14:23, March 16, 2024 (EDT)

The similarities are noted in the articles themselves, but I think it's haste to establish an explicit connection in the manner the enemy summaries are doing. The Japanese are somewhat shared but not particularly direct evidence for a relationship given the general reliance on generic onomatopoeia given as basis for these names. I'm sure there's several examples in the wiki with shared Japanese names that involve onomatopoeia. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 14:29, March 16, 2024 (EDT)
That's fair. I agree that names do not imply a relationship between enemies on their own. I feel like relationships have been suggested elsewhere on those grounds that I don't agree with. (I really don't think Chargin' Chucks and Boom Booms are related beyond both being Koopas.) But for Cluckboom specifically, do the other things I mentioned not make that interpretation grounded in objectivity? If Cluckbooms and Plurps were chicken enemies that behaved differently or looked nothing alike, that would be one thing, but they are very similar. Similarly proportioned. Similarly sized. Similar warm color schemes. Similar flight patterns and behavior. They both need to be hit indirectly to ground them. The biggest difference to me is that Cluckbooms drop bombs, whereas Plurps drop goop. Those details, in combination with having shared game staff and sharing "Coo Coo" in their names... I feel like this is all too much to suggest its coincidental or a subjective interpretation. – Nintendo101 (talk) 14:59, March 16, 2024 (EDT)
No, I can see where you're coming from. I don't think it's an unreasonable interpretation. I just don't agree with the wording. Perhaps just mention "Plurp-like" or "Similar to its Plurp predecessor", so you can note the similarities without drawing too much of a direct link. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. There's currently a conflict over the deletion of Super Smash Bros. redirects on an administrator's talk page. Even though a handful probably did not think that the redirects would be deleted outright, the proposal passed nonetheless, the proposer reportedly intended for the redirects to be deleted, and it is one of the proposals yet to be enacted. Regarding last warning

Hi, sorry for the late response. I'm okay that you gave me a last warning, since I did go overboard without understanding what the scope of the proposal was about, and I generally think that this is probably why proposers should enact the proposers. And I think the last warning will help me be more careful about what I do on the wiki from now on. Super Mario RPG (talk) 11:39, April 25, 2024 (EDT)

sections

Just wanted to ask if I handled something appropriately, since I'm being extra cautious with my last warning in place. I made a proposal in response to some users preferring to sort the sections by franchise, rather than by series, even though I felt (and I'm going by my personal opinion) that sorting it that way was opening the way for headcanons in sections (and how convenience isn't always reflection of official confirmation from Nintendo). So anyway, besides the point, rather than edit war like over the Cog (obstacle) article, I made a proposal about a conflict I got in (and did some months back over the Lava article). Was this a good way about going about it? When there's conflicts over how an article is done and no corresponding proposal has been done, I think the response is to make a proposal on it. proposal question

Are proposals (to a degree) a way for users to discuss some things that they wonder about with the Super Mario franchise? For example, I felt mixed on whether Super Mario Bros. Movie was introducing more forms of media into the Super Mario platforming series and voted both options (though I later changed to oppose, but had to in any case since that's the policy for two-option proposals). But anyway, I was mixed on the idea, but now it helps to see community input. Super Mario RPG (talk) 15:08, May 12, 2024 (EDT)

Proposals usually do call discussion more than other subjects, so it is normal to use these to solicit opinion. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:15, May 12, 2024 (EDT)
Someone thought my proposal was a joke, which hurt my feelings a bit. I do wish I had executed it better on the first post, since it was brainstorming aloud with digression and trying to make connections that weren't necessarily there. Now it's, as you said, "soliciting opinion" from others (including myself) as to the film's mainline status. The film was so successful, I thought it was reasonable and not a joke to assume it could be going into mainline of the Super Mario franchise. I wouldn't be opposed to if that had become the case, so that it can help Super Mario have more fans than just people who play video games, but I want to assure the proposal wasn't created as a joke. You probably need to hash it out with Hewer that the question was a bit disrespectful. In my opinion, if you do think your ideas aren't very strong enough for a proposal, it might help to create a talk page discussion first on the appropriate page. main page

Samus on the boxart of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

Since you're an admin here, I was wondering what your thoughts are on this idea. It's a discussion that I started about updating the main page design, and I cited a few things that I felt could use with improvement (such as how the List of references article, is grouped with wiki pages). Since this would be such a big decision, I wondered if at least one staff member could weigh in and give comment. One user expressed interest and another wasn't opposed but seemed otherwise neutral. All of us agree the main page design in my sandbox isn't finalized and just a preliminary version that I'm presenting to others. Super Mario RPG (talk) 13:04, May 15, 2024 (EDT)

Appeal attempt

  • [This final warning was completely unnecessary. Because the games where all listet from oldest to newest already. I just put them in one section. This has nothing to do with a proposal.]

You will need to format your appeal in MarioWiki:Appeals. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 11:42, May 17, 2024 (EDT)

was my proposal clear?

I made a proposal some minutes ago about standardizing the use of History in the Super Mario franchise on articles meeting certain criteria. I don't think there's anything in the rules against formatting the headings as such, so when I say "standardize, it's referring to "if someone changes it, their edit has to be undone."

The Dinosaur article had the "History in the Super Mario franchise" heading undone. The way I handle the situation is that it stays reverted unless the proposal passes, otherwise a dispute could form. Super Mario RPG (talk) 14:43, May 17, 2024 (EDT)

You should gauge from the amount of engagement your proposal is getting. I'm not entirely sure why the proposal was made, and I don't think the amount of options makes it particularly clear what's exactly going to happen. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. Did this make it more clear? Super Mario RPG (talk) 13:03, May 18, 2024 (EDT)
Unfortunately, no. Your proposal in general is vague (I don't understand what the issue is and I still am not sure what the proposal is trying to accomplish) and seems too similar to an earlier proposal regarding organizing those history subsections in the article? There are too many options in your proposal too which often overwhelms people. At least, this is why I'm not really voting on there. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. Okay, I've made some changes, including to the description. I streamlined the proposal to a simple support or oppose, if that helps. Super Mario RPG (talk) 14:00, May 19, 2024 (EDT)

gamecube

A user began a discussion on my talk page over a file that I questioned the applicability of to this wiki, since it's a lot more about Nintendo than Super Mario. It's the Nintendo GameCube menu screen. From what I know, the Nintendo articles are supposed to provide better focus on Super Mario. The menu screen is generic and doesn't show anything related explicitly to Super Mario, while some sub-menus like the game start up or Memory card could be a better case, since those depict icons of Super Mario games.

I think the GameCube menu screenshot is basically about as relevant as the Memory Card article, which had to have a talk page proposal to split it up into separate pages since it wasn't relevant enough for a page on its own. Super Mario RPG (talk) 23:11, May 19, 2024 (EDT)

I've been away for a while. Did something major change while I was gone? I also checked a recent proposal that permitted removal of non-Mario content for Super Smash Bros. (series). I've argued that for years we shouldn't cover it. I was just late to the party. Heh. Depending on case, I am on-board supporting removing non-Mario content. Before that, I just gave up trying to argue it. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:15, May 19, 2024 (EDT)

New BJAODN categories

Hello again! Fellow user Arend has created three new categories for BJAODN: Files and galleries, List articles, and Vehicles. Could you please add these three to the main BJAODN page? SolemnStormcloud (talk) 14:48, May 20, 2024 (EDT)

Okey dokey. Please tell me I didn't fudge it up this time. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 20:44, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
"Lists" should be "List articles" to match the title of the page proper (unless we want to rename that instead). That's the only mistake, though. Thanks once again! SolemnStormcloud (talk) 21:38, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
I thought "lists" would benefit from brevity but if "list article" is much clearer, then we can use that. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 21:49, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
Mm-hm. We can always discuss a rename another day. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 21:51, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
By "another day", apparently I mean tomorrow afternoon. EDIT: Arend went through with the rename, so you or Porplebot will have to update the piped link anyways. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 14:29, May 21, 2024 (EDT)
