Mole Miner Max
Mole Miner Max is the fourth boss in the Wii game, Donkey Kong Country Returns. As his name states, he is a notable Mole Miner, and the leader of his species. He and his army of mole miners are the bosses of the Cave world. When first encountered, Mole Miner Max's minions were seen loading the minecarts up with banana's from Donkey Kong's hoard. Max, himself, was seen doing nothing except, what appeared be, sleeping at the head of the Mole Train. However, the banjo-shaped Tiki hypnotizes Max, which forces him to start up the train and drive off with Donkey Kong's banana hoard. Max is about three sizes bigger than his minions. Like the other moles, Max wears a hardhat with a headlamp on it. However, he wears an orange and yellow miner's vest (whereas his minions do not). Max also has one, big tooth hanging out of his mouth, and freckles on both sides of his cheeks. His official artwork depicts him to have red eyes and black pupils, unlike his minions who appear to not have any eyes (or are covered up by their helmets). He is about the same in color as other mole miners; being slightly darker. During battle, his weapon of choice is a pickaxe, much like most mole miners. He uses the same fighting style as his minions, however he is a bit faster than them, and his attacks are more unpredictable. Sometimes he will throw his pickaxe at the player(s); other times he simply swings it at them, but won't throw it. After Mole Miner Max has been defeated, the train starts slowing down and stops short at the edge of the cliff. Whatever happened to Max, afterwards, is unknown.
