Rather than give it its own article, it is probably better to lump it here and give the article a broader name. The green valve in the game really mirrors these objects too and can probably share an article with them.)

Blue screws[1] are spinnable objects in Super Mario Galaxy. They are embedded into the terrain of industrialized galaxies, such as the Battlerock Galaxy and Buoy Base Galaxy. Performing a spin while on top of a blue screw embeds it into the ground and triggers a nearby event. There is a gold screw[2][3] variant (also called a golden bolt,[4] yellow screw,[5] and golden screw)[2] that appears in some of the same galaxies as blue screws. During "Heavy Metal Mecha-Bowser", blue and gold screws are imbedded into the body of Mecha-Bowser. Unscrewing them causes its body to fall apart. In Buoy Base Galaxy, a gold screw is attached to a Ball Beamer and disengages it when spun.

Blue screws are very similar to valves.
