In the Mario Party series, the group use the Dice Block to move around. It rolls from the number 1-10, or 1-5 when a cursed mushroom is active. Since the game is on the screen, the player needs to use the Dice Block to see how many spaces the player goes. The players can't use an ordinary dice to move on the screen.
Types of Dice Block
To make the game fun, the producers made more types of block to use:
- Plus Block: Allows the player gain coins depending the number the player hits the dice (1-10). It's a blue dice.
- Minus Block: Deducts the number rolled from the player's coins (1-10). It's a red dice.
- Slow Block: The player can only make at maximum to 1-3 moves. It's a yellow dice.
- Speed Block: The player can only make at maximum to 8-10 moves. It's a green dice.
- Hidden Block: This surprising block gives the player the opportunity of gain coins, an item or a star. A brown or silver dice.
- Halfway Dice Block: This is a dice block that is numbered only 1-5. It is found in Mario Party DS only.
- Warp Block: The player automatically hits this dice, randomly switches the player's position with another player. Multicolored dice. A similar item in Mario Party DS is the Warp Dice Block.
- Cursed Block: After using a Cursed Mushroom, the dice turns purple making the player only use the numbers 1-3 (in Mario Party 5 's Card Party and Mario Party 6 's Solo Mode) or 1-5 used as a regular item. Powerful when using against others.
- Reverse Block: After using a Reverse Mushroom, the dice lets the player go backwards. No "rolling number" damage used.
- Red Block: After using a Mushroom / Mushroom Orb / Twice Candy / Double Dice Set, the player get to roll twice which means more spaces to move.
- Golden Block: After using a Golden Mushroom / Super 'Shroom Orb / Thrice Candy / Triple Dice Set, The player can roll three times!
